  • BE BRAVE: "We urgently need new solutions to fight poverty. Social entrepreneurs choose to see opportunities instead of intangible problems."
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Being unreasonable is a pre-requisite I would think to being a successful social entrepreneur. The concept of using business acumen to solve world problems is an unreasonable idea right there.

Being unreasonable is something that's been pretty much brainwashed out of us as a child. Parents often telling us to be reasonable. Share this with your brothers or sisters. Don't be unreasonable they always tell you. However, without unreason, we would not have the innovations or the thought leaders we have today. Creativity is pretty much the same way. A lot of children do not have parents that nurture creativity. In fact, some people today do not have the support groups necessary to allow their success. Are you going to be more unreasonable and creative this year?

You can't complain about the distribution of wealth and advertise “market based” solutions for the problem at the same time...

I'm sorry, maybe is because I come from a 3rd world country that this kind of speeches sounds without ANY SENSE... our world is in these conditions exactly for "unreasonable" people... people who are exploiting other people and the nature in the name of their interests... But a good storyteller makes to you say "be unreasonable"... I feel that it's totally wrong :( The non-social entrepreneurs are also very UNREASONABLE PEOPLE!!! :-/
