Great review! 👍I've tried out the 4a and the 5 (black) and now I've ordered the 4a 5g that is on its way to me. All three phones are great at their various price points. I'm very surprised that the 60Hz screen of the 4a is so great that i can't say that the 60Hz screen is a deal breaker. Normally i would have said so. A little disappointing are the speakers of the 5 that sound worse than the speakers of the 4a but if you never use the phone's speakers and are constantly connected to bluetooth speakers/headset then that doesn't matter. I'm however a little bit hesitant whether I think $699 makes the 5 worth buying considering the competition out there right now, the s20 FE and the iphone 12. What makes the Pixel interesting for me was always the cameras and if the camera is what matters, well then you can get it for $499 , the 4a 5g. With that said , if the 5 had come with some extra camera goodies then it had been a more attractive purchase, like perhaps taking the step starting to putting in new and improved camera lenses. I think Google has reached the limit for what software can do and now they need to try out new camera hardware.

The biggest difference in price between the two is the millimeter wave 5G that pushes the Verizon version of the 4a 5G to $600 instead of $500. Couple that with the fact that the international versions of the Pixel 5 without it also cost $100 less... Thanks US Carriers. The actual difference between these phones is only $100 at either tier with both of them having the same cellular breakdown. THAT'S the real difference then. The screens, water resistance, wireless charging, and metal vs plastic build is only about $100, NOT $200.
Indeed, you have been talking a lot about the higher refresh rate 😄. I wish there was an actual try at explaining why it is better as opposed to “wow look.. the app drawer moves so smoothly” 😏😄😄😄😄 Especially when you yourself say “people don’t really notice it” and “I notice it sometimes” 😏
I do not notice 90Hz or more and that is because I rarely fast scroll through anything. If you slow scroll, anything above 30Hz is a barely noticeable improvement, it is only in fast-moving situations that you may notice an aesthetic improvement In scrolling. I really do believe that 120Hz is simply a way for OEMs to get the teen market to upgrade quicker. I am unsure why people that hype 120Hz, show fast scrolling on Twitter or their browser to prove their point! I tend to slowly move down a feed and why would I care if it looks nicer (it does not to me), if I am not reading it, just fast scrolling? I get it with fast-moving games as the trained gaming eye can notice the higher frame rates, but as a non-gamer my 120Hz is disabled and until someone convinces me of its benefit (science does not) then it will remain off. Anyway, the long and short of it is that 90Hz on the Pixel 5 is not worth upgrading for, nor 5g if you do not have it. The rest of the Pixel 5 is mainly downgrades (speaker and SoC) so if you have a Pixel 4XL don't bother. If you are choosing between the 4a 5g or the Pixel 5 I would probably go for neither as in Europe there are far better choices. Despite the hype, mainly in the US, I do not see this year's Pixel's as likely to change the general decline in Google's smartphone business; Google expects 800k Pixel 5 sales, that may be pushing it after the initial fans grab their phone. It is a shame, but Google has lost its way. Praising it for going mid-range is faint praise, their flagships never sold, they had little choice. This is also no revolution by Google, mid-range or cheaper account for 90% plus of all smartphone sales, and in Asia and Europe, we have known that flagships are not the be-all and end-all for years for the average consumer. It is nice that the YT community also finally gets it!
Plugging it in at night when you're sleeping is not good for the battery. You'll need to unplug it at or before 100%, otherwise it'll quickly ruin your battery.
@@samuelvarga3223 I just charge mine with the boxed charger. If you're worried about fast charging, you always have the option to do wireless which is naturally slower anyway.

I don't trust google hardware any more. The Pixel 3 was the most expensive phone I've ever purchased and it also lasted the shortest of any phone I've owned.
well... in 2020 most other phones are more expensive. Also, keep in mind that the pixel 3 was built by an entirely different team since the HTC engineers took over about 18 months ago.

I wish there was an actual try at explaining why it is better as opposed to “wow look.. the app drawer moves so smoothly” 😏😄😄😄😄
Especially when you yourself say “people don’t really notice it” and “I notice it sometimes” 😏
I dont get why charging speeds matter when battery will go all day. Plug it in at night
Plugging it in at night when you're sleeping is not good for the battery. You'll need to unplug it at or before 100%, otherwise it'll quickly ruin your battery.
@@Bry.89 But fast-charging is bad for your battery too! I actually like Google's approach here.
@@samuelvarga3223 I just charge mine with the boxed charger. If you're worried about fast charging, you always have the option to do wireless which is naturally slower anyway.
@@Bry.89 I highly doubt that, please state your sources.
@@davidmccarthy6061 My sources? Bud.. wireless charging is 10-12w for pixel wireless charging devices and standard charging is 18w. It's obviously slower. Wireless charging is slower in general, on all phones. Where you been?
Why you never Reviewed LG velvet even though you did bought it
LG Velvet review is coming. We've just been overwhelmed with the number of new devices these past few months.
It's funny you guys are why I decided not to get pixel 5.. I let Google know via customer satisfaction. That sending out free phones to all you tube people before customers were allowed to order them was a bad idea. All your reviews did not go well ,overheating , no telephoto lens, no face Id ...so I thanked Google . They sent out 7000.00 worth of free phones just to get bad reviews that led me to go with samsung this year. Saved me the Hassel and buyers remorse .. hats off to Google for shooting off their own foot again.
foto processing too slow..deal breaker
You’re a the best friend!
Thanks!
Wow i like pixel
Apple is topping charging at 12W if you dont pay for their new 20W USB C charger

@@polancoloammi6938 same. Hopefully it gets shipped her sooner
Great to see an adult reviewing a phone instead of a kid that wants a Xbox with a Nikon camera in their pocket.

Is this a review or a spec sheet recitation??!!
Ummm... a review. With all the specs, I also told you how each of them perform after testing them for two weeks.
I had the Pixel 3XL and indeed it was a bad phone. Had a few issues but the poor RAM management killed it for me. There are really no bad phone since 2019 apart from the Pixel 3XL and having used it for a year I had to ditch it. Took a big loss but glad I upgraded to the Pixel 4XL, a far better phone, though I paid a lot less than retail.
@@phandroid good to know. Unfortunately, I don't trust them any more. If they pushed out a bad phone, they should support their users. Instead, I'm left holding the bag for their production quality issues. Don't want to take that chance again.
@@LarsLiden Having a regular Pixel 3 since March 2019, i have absolutely no issues with it at all ! And get about 6hrs SOT 😋
@@maxoo._ SOT?
No Flagship phone is a true damn flag ship! There no flag and no ship wtf
In the UK the pixel 4a 5g is £499 and the pixel 5 is £599 so not much more for a better device
