I agree 100%. Two of my favorite things in the world, music and motorcycles, have changed a lot since I was 20-something. Corporations exist to make money, not to please ever-aging me. They need to appeal to a younger, more diverse customer base. The old men currently complaining about HD's attitude will be dust (as will I) long before corporate closes down.

Great vid Man, I share your opinion, I too have been a Harley enthusiast for many years, there are 3 in the garage and I wouldn't ride anything else. I think all the agitation is caused by a minority of people who don't even ride Harleys. What is sad is that the new policy created by Jochen Zeist is destroying the company from the inside and will put many American workers out of work. Since its arrival, we have seen a decline in quality, a restriction of ranges and choice and a drastic increase in prices, which is also turning people away from the brand. All of this is due to a deep misunderstanding of the core customers who made the company's heyday, but this German manager has no use for all of that, he is in the pay of shareholders who want short-term profit. And this company is no longer run by motorcycle enthusiasts but by financiers. The "woke" movement has been underway for a while now in society to impose minorities as a norm to the detriment of majorities as most companies do today, but in my opinion this has nothing to do with the backlash suffered by Harley, it's just pointless agitation. As I said above, it's the excessive prices, range restrictions, abandonment of iconic models and new models copied from Polaris that keep people away from the brand. This is how the world goes, we won't be able to do much about it anyway, and at my age of 65 I will soon be one of the "has-beens" whose opinions no longer count, but I don't care , it doesn't hold my passion for the brand and as long as I can ride, it will be on a Harley. I have been pissed at local dealers rediculous price hikes for decades. I am pissed with any company that deals with American made priducts then ships production to Mexico and Taiwan. So when Harley goes gay and gets politicial, I say F them.
The fact is all Harley owners will have to examine their values and make a choice. Some will make compromises backed up with excuses and some will move on and never give Harley another penny. I think Harley should offer more style of engines why in the world does Harley not offer an inline 4 cylinder race bike? Why aren’t they racing motogp? Ducati and BMW both prove people will by expensive race bikes. It’s confusing. I like the warranty and dealership network. It makes for a place to get to if your long distance riding.

Most Harley advertisements are solo riders on motorcycles with no way of knowing if that rider is straight/gay or otherwise. It’s an assumption. I don’t recall ever seeing a couple on 1 bike in a Harley ad. Probably because they need to emphasize that women can ride their owns bikes. So they have it all covered already. United we Ride or something like that. Solo seats for everyone.
A couple points/beliefs that deserve being thrown out there: - The “woke” stuff in HD isn’t new, it’s just being recirculated to a new outrage market. I doubt there’s a corporate board in any company that doesn’t behave in a similar fashion. Like Hollywood and regardless of any opinions, corporate levels are echo chambers with little interaction with the consumers. - the Pan America, not to diminish your experience on your bike, is widely regarded as an amazing competitor to some of the most established adventure bikes. The rev max is widely regarded as a great engine, and it’s a shame Harley axed the Bronx and seems to have moved away from the engine. The Pan America is proof Harley can make extremely good bikes in other markets than cruisers, and many of us just want them to break into those markets. The Indian FTR is a great example, and Harley’s Bronx could mop the floor with that bike. - Harley’s primary issue is the price relative to the capability of the bike. While some of it has improved (better suspension, frame, etc., on some models), the bikes generally are extremely heavy, poor-braking, and handle in a sub-par fashion, not only in comparison to similarly priced bikes, but in comparison to other cruisers on the market. Most important is in relation to the price, however. Why save double for the Harley when you could get a Rebel 1100 new for almost half of many of Harley’s offerings, or even less for a Moto Guzzi California or Audace on the used market, which are lighter than most Harley’s and handle much better? While they don’t have the Harley character or charm, they also don’t have the price tag. All of that to say, Harley “going woke” (which I don’t necessarily believe is happening as has been characterized) will probably harm them in the short term, but the biggest challenge is that most people couldn’t afford the bikes anyway.

Harley, as large as they are, are a niche market of motorcycles, so everyone that loves them will have a hard time replacing them because they’re too unique. If I had to give the most satisfying answer I would say Indian or Moto Guzzi. Indian is a smaller company, and you would have to find the Guzzi’s on the used market, but that’s it really.

I need to get another yellow lab - there the best - great grouse and pheasant hunters as well as just great dogs. as far as harley. i don't know - they make good machines in my opinion. I have 120K on my fatboy and I ride it like a dirt bike. just slamming gears, speed shifting. etc. just basic maintenence as well. it's been a darn good machine is all I know. But my favorite is my rz 500, close second is my cr500.

Harley would be doing their shareholders a disservice by not marketing to them. I personally don't care what you do. I appreciate every other rider. Why should a company exclude millions of possible customers? Because uncle ted gets the willies when he thinks about their sex life? That's insane to expect.
@@CWright72167 I understand but assumptions are being made all the way around. Most Harley advertisements are solo riders on motorcycles with no way of knowing if that rider is straight/gay or otherwise. It’s an assumption. I don’t recall ever seeing a couple on 1 bike in a Harley ad. Probably because they need to emphasize that women can ride their owns bikes. So they have it all covered already. United we Ride or something like that. Solo seats for everyone.
A couple points/beliefs that deserve being thrown out there:
- The “woke” stuff in HD isn’t new, it’s just being recirculated to a new outrage market. I doubt there’s a corporate board in any company that doesn’t behave in a similar fashion. Like Hollywood and regardless of any opinions, corporate levels are echo chambers with little interaction with the consumers.
- the Pan America, not to diminish your experience on your bike, is widely regarded as an amazing competitor to some of the most established adventure bikes. The rev max is widely regarded as a great engine, and it’s a shame Harley axed the Bronx and seems to have moved away from the engine. The Pan America is proof Harley can make extremely good bikes in other markets than cruisers, and many of us just want them to break into those markets. The Indian FTR is a great example, and Harley’s Bronx could mop the floor with that bike.
- Harley’s primary issue is the price relative to the capability of the bike. While some of it has improved (better suspension, frame, etc., on some models), the bikes generally are extremely heavy, poor-braking, and handle in a sub-par fashion, not only in comparison to similarly priced bikes, but in comparison to other cruisers on the market. Most important is in relation to the price, however. Why save double for the Harley when you could get a Rebel 1100 new for almost half of many of Harley’s offerings, or even less for a Moto Guzzi California or Audace on the used market, which are lighter than most Harley’s and handle much better? While they don’t have the Harley character or charm, they also don’t have the price tag.
All of that to say, Harley “going woke” (which I don’t necessarily believe is happening as has been characterized) will probably harm them in the short term, but the biggest challenge is that most people couldn’t afford the bikes anyway.

Harley, as large as they are, are a niche market of motorcycles, so everyone that loves them will have a hard time replacing them because they’re too unique. If I had to give the most satisfying answer I would say Indian or Moto Guzzi. Indian is a smaller company, and you would have to find the Guzzi’s on the used market, but that’s it really.

Well, youre wrong if you think theres no competitors for HD, theres lots. Harley owners are dying out. The youngsters are not buying. Thats #1 for slumping sales over the past several years. Look at sales for the past decade. HD is no longer the American icon it once was. They started losing loyal owners when they started putting foreign made parts on the bikes, then quit supporting owners with bikes older than 10 years, then started pricing out the middle class American.
