Yes but you need the one with multiple needle sets I'll leave a link amzn.to/44Be1t2 So this is the same gun just updated version but it comes with a 1.7 tip and needle set an that should be big enough for epoxy.
Thank you for making this video. I am getting prepared to do my first paint work (hopefully this summer) and I am interested in this gun. The info you share on pressures, spray distance, and speed great. I am curious to know how this gun would fair with laying a drop coat for a metallic paint.
Luv it. Q: Because a lplv gun sprays slower, if I’m doing a full car should I use a slower reducer so I can finish a side before one end begins to flash over/dry?
You mentioned using the Clear Coat Fast Activator, but the can in video was Standard Activator. Does that make any difference in the application as you described it?
It's all personal preference. For base you want it a bit lower 15-25 for clear generally 28-30 depending on gun and type of clear your using. I will adjust my base coat pressure according to temp and color high metallics I perfer the air pressure a bit lower for metallic orientation.
I think the air consumption is way overstated and wrong on these types of spray guns. I use a Husky air compressor rated at 4.5 gpm and these guns based on the R500 no way uses just 3.5 to 4 per minute. Another TH-camr said these guns actually use 7.5 to 8 gpm of air. That explains why I can’t get a constant flow of spray paint for any considerable amount of time. Would be nice to have an episode on actual air consumption is compaired to what the manufacturers claim it is.
How do you manage to get 30psi at the gun while spraying, especially with the added bulb filter? On mine I'm lucky to get 25psi regulated if I send the full 110psi of tank pressure (20gal/2HP), using 25ft of 3/8" line. I do have a wall-mounted oil+moisture filter in the way, but still...
@@GarageNoise Thanks, it was already open. It ended up being the cheap regulator I had on it. I overnighted the same square blue digital type I saw on yours and that fixed it!

It's not overkill, this gun will preform Ethier way. You could use any gun with your compressor. Just depends on you needs. Cost, skill level, pro or hobbiest

So i'm not looking for hundreds of dollar gun. What gun should I buy for my needs?n I have a 8 gal thank, 1.5HP, max pressure 135
Great video! Looks like these guns spray very nice. When compressor size is not an issue, would this be a better gun when compared to the HF black widow or an entry level Iwata? I ask because I will be spraying a classic VW van using an inflatable booth, that is slow removing the overspray. The van bolt on panels will be sprayed first then later the roof and then the body. With the R500 gun would I still get good results with the larger panels on the van. Would the parts dry time be an issue with a smaller fan and possibly spraying at a slower speed? I will like to be able to follow the paint wet edge without the clouds of paint in the air and it looks to me that one of the benefits of this gun is not having a thick cloud in the air. Greatly appreciate your advice.
You do get less overpray with the R500 but do sacrifice a bit of speed. You can increase your speed with the R500 by reducing the spraying distance. For your situation I think I would use the R500 on the loose part and the black widow on the body of the vehicle. You can get just as nice of a finish with the R500 tho. It sounds like a fun project shoot me some photos after paint. I might be able to share with the community. Garagenoise247@gmail.com
@@GarageNoise thank you for your advice! Would the R500 be able to do the body as well? The roof will be the largest panel i will be spraying first by itself. I ask because I will be afraid of having different texture using two different guns. I saw another video about the R 500 a few years old, and the person did not recommend this gun for a complete job because it doesn’t have enough volume and will leave dry edges when working large areas constantly, according to him. Looking at your videos looks to me that is capable. I think spraying a little slower may help me focus on how things are laying down, don’t know if that makes sense. I will definitely send you some pictures of the process. Thank you again!

Hi great video. I’ve read for paint spraying the minimum cfm is around 12. Would this gun work with a small compressor, if so can anyone recommend which size/brand. Which compressor was used in this video, please. I’ve been looking at HVLP turbine units for painting but compressor/ gun setups seem quieter, give a finer finish and are perhaps less costly.
Personally I would go with a compressor gun set up. Yes , this gun will only require around 5 cfm's of air to spray properly, that's what's so unique about this gun. So most 20 gallon compressors will work well. I always recommend getting the most cfm's you can afford. I use a large compressor and don't have any recommendations for a small compressor at this time.hope this helps appreciate the support!
What’s the most used size on your masking paper I’m looking at buying a masking stand not sure on what sizes I’d use most currently I just use 3m plastic to mask but paper would be handy here and there
I perfer the upol just because I usually buff the next day if it needs it and the finish1 is still a little soft the next day it will buff out but it takes longer. Both are great tho.
@Garage Noise - I was thinking of spraying the basecoat at 28 psi but now seeing the finish on your truck im doubting myself if I should go lower(painting my whole hatchback) 😅
@Garage Noise it sounds like you've been using these lower CFM guns for a while now, do they keep working upon cleanup just as well? In fact, could you do a video on cleaning your guns? My brother and I have this debate because he doesn't break them down saying it's bad for the tip, he just fills the cup with lacquer thinner and sprays it out a couple of times where I break them down and try to clean the tips and pieces. 🤷 What is your experience in this area?
I break them down when I need to. Usually when it's not spraying right🤣. About once a month i break them all the way down. Otherwise a quick clean does well. It doesn't hurt anything tho break them down and clean tho.
Hi I’ve just been given a compressor to use to spray my van and it’s got 1.5hp / 6L / 115psi / CFM 7 / FAD 4.5 is the compressor ideal for this spray gun you’re using? Cheers

It's all personal preference. For base you want it a bit lower 15-25 for clear generally 28-30 depending on gun and type of clear your using. I will adjust my base coat pressure according to temp and color high metallics I perfer the air pressure a bit lower for metallic orientation.
Dang son! Hammer time 💧
👍👍👊👊
I think the air consumption is way overstated and wrong on these types of spray guns. I use a Husky air compressor rated at 4.5 gpm and these guns based on the R500 no way uses just 3.5 to 4 per minute. Another TH-camr said these guns actually use 7.5 to 8 gpm of air. That explains why I can’t get a constant flow of spray paint for any considerable amount of time. Would be nice to have an episode on actual air consumption is compaired to what the manufacturers claim it is.
I think your right. I believe these guns are around 7-10 as well. The orig R500 is on the low end on that number tho
Make sure the air adjustment knob on the bottom of the gun is open allrhe way.
@@GarageNoise Thanks, it was already open. It ended up being the cheap regulator I had on it. I overnighted the same square blue digital type I saw on yours and that fixed it!

What is the model and stuff for that adaptor and cup you are using on this gun
The adapter is a 57505 spectrum from harbor freight or a 3m legacy #2 adapter. Here's a link to the disposable cup kit amzn.to/3GZgzqq
Appreciate the comment and support!
Can get the standard clear and hardener at O'Reilly's for 80$
Yes you can get it at oreillys.
Hi mate I really ❤ your video
👍
Can this be used with something like a 6 gallon or should I just stick with rattle can
You need a compressor that produces at minimum 6 cfm's of air.
I have a 60 gal.125psi, 13.5cfm compressor. Would that be over kill for this gun? Or Would you recommend a different gun for my compressor?
It's not overkill, this gun will preform Ethier way.
You could use any gun with your compressor. Just depends on you needs. Cost, skill level, pro or hobbiest
is the paint gun better then the little astro gun? clear looks good
It's as good as the astro. The astro is a great gun but this is more versatile since it uses less air. Both spray great tho. Appreciate the comment and support!
My local store only stocks the UP2882, can you use that as well? What's the biggest different between that and the UP2892 that you mention?
What are the specs on the air compressor you used for this? I’m interested in a lvlp gun/ small compressor setup for my garage. Any help is appreciated.
Hi I bought a 27 gallon fortress compressor will it be enough for a bumber or a hood I bought a 80$ harbor freight paint gun
Should be, I don't know what gun you bought tho. Some of those hf gun use alot of air.
@@GarageNoise I got the black widow from harbor forgot 11.8cfm @35 psi gun is 14 to 35 psi input have another gun central pneumatic 15 cfm @ 40 psi honestly ima return my 27 compresser and get a 60 gallon I should be good with a 60 galllon rite dewalt 3.7 hp 155 max psi 13.4scfm at 40psi and 11.5 scfm at 90 psi I don’t wanna risk the small 27 gal ima upgrade to a 60 gal
How much flash time do you allow between the clear coats?
Nice job!!!
👊👍
Very nice!👍
Thank you! Appreciate the support!
What needle size and can this gun spray solvent paint????
1.3 and yes it can
What size tips are you using. Thanks
Spot job looks good 👍 gun sprays well. What temperature did you paint??
Thank's brother, It was about 75-80°
Me I just want a gun for small job, like motorcycle fender. Not the entire fender but rader deep scratch so you understand what i'm saying. it's once and a while little job. So i'm not looking for hundreds of dollar gun. What gun should I buy for my needs?n I have a 8 gal thank, 1.5HP, max pressure 135
You may want to cosider a good touch up gun astro makes a good one.
@@GarageNoise thanks. Astro gun will be
Great video!
P.s. R500 Fan size I don't find to be an issue. About 10 inch

Thank for such an amazing video. Just curious ..what is the difference between this clear and UPOL 2882?
2882 is a overall clear if you painting an entire vehicle .
@@GarageNoise Ahh, ok. I'm painting a motorcycle gas tank so it's not a very large area but do you think the 2882 is the better choice? Just need something good yet forgiving. Thank you
@@scottdilalla 2892 is the better choice because its for small parts one or two full panels, it will dry quickly . 2882 will work tho .
@@GarageNoise great!! Thank you!
@@GarageNoise many thanks Happy New Year
27 gallon Fortress from harbor freight produces 5.1 CFM
That’s what I’m using with an R500 works just fine
What pps adapter work with this? I have the original pps which works with the harbor freight knock off stuff which is nice if I run out on a weekend.
Not sure of the size but it's a female adapter that i got at harbor freight. I want to say 3/8
@@GarageNoise thank you keep up the good work I’ve painted a dozen cars from learning on your videos
Do I need a gun adapter for the disposable cup set you have listed in description. And are the adaptors universal?
Yes you do, the adapters are not universal for every gun. I got mine at harbor freight. I think it it the 3/8 female don't quote me tho.
What’s the most used size on your masking paper I’m looking at buying a masking stand not sure on what sizes I’d use most currently I just use 3m plastic to mask but paper would be handy here and there
I use 18inch and like you I mostly use plastic. Appreciate the support!
@@GarageNoise thank you for the reply! Do you ever use the small like 6-8in say for like inside mirrors or tail holes
What do use to mix the paint base coat with??
Not sure what you mean?
Chris which clear do you like better? The Upol or the Finish 1 FC720
I perfer the upol just because I usually buff the next day if it needs it and the finish1 is still a little soft the next day it will buff out but it takes longer. Both are great tho.
What compressor was used please?
why the primer just partially on the door?
How much paint in a 2 stage base, clear would it take to paint a hayabusa ?
Depends on the color and paint line but a quart will get it done.
@@GarageNoise Thanx, what I was thinking.
💪💪💪have you tried the clear 2:1 with this gun?
No, I'll have to test it.
What about shooting primer?
It's great for primer. I use the 1.5 tip for high build and if your spraying something thicker you might step up to the 1.7
@Garage Noise - I was thinking of spraying the basecoat at 28 psi but now seeing the finish on your truck im doubting myself if I should go lower(painting my whole hatchback) 😅
Yeah for basecoat you can probably go with less pressure 15-20psi
@@GarageNoise even if its a pearl basecoat I shouldnt have any issue spraying it at 15-20psi?
@@luisdiaz9142 even if it's pearl base, the color should not effect how the basecoat sprays. Unless you've added some coarse metallics.
Just in case I missed it ,but what size tip is on your spray-it spray gun?
It's a 1.3 appreciate the support!
Nice video brother, Would you say this Sprayit gun is better then the Orange Astro gun Lvlp ?
I would say it's definitely more versatile because of the low air consumption. Both are great budget guns .
With the LVLP gun, how much clear are you using on each panel?
Roughly about 6oz
@@GarageNoise thanks brotha 🙏
Thanks!
Welcome!
How many coats of clear should you put on
2 coats Is really all you need
Can you use this clear coat to paint an entire car? Why does is say for spot panels?
Yes, you could but they have an overall clear as well. The overall dries a bit slower for more working time.
Here's a link amzn.to/3RYRkMb
Hi I’ve just been given a compressor to use to spray my van and it’s got 1.5hp / 6L / 115psi / CFM 7 / FAD 4.5 is the compressor ideal for this spray gun you’re using? Cheers
It will work, may have some air fluctuations if painting multiple panel or a full car but should get the job done.
@@GarageNoise yeah i think I may just buy a bigger air compressor like a 50ltr😂 thanks for the reply
Nice video. What size needle and fluid tip did you use? Reducers and their percentages?
1.3 fluid tip. Paint reduction for nason is 2:1 clear is 4:1
@@GarageNoise No reducer in the clear, just the hardener?
@@michaelbell7465 no reducer in clearcoat. I know others do it but I feel it lessens the effectiveness of the u.v. protection and in turn the durability. Honestly it's not needed for most clears. If you feel you need to always check the technical data sheet. Good question, appreciate the support!
Perfect
It seems like ther was a lot of overspray with this gun. Do you know of one that will produce less overspray? Thanks
It may of seemed like it but it truly produces much less overspray than any other gun on the market.
@@GarageNoise OK, Thanks
What regulator were you using on that paint gun? I like the digital gauge. My current gauge is a little foggy due to cleaning the gun and the gauge has a plastic face!
That is a harbor freight air gauge.
@@GarageNoise I havent had luck with the harbor freight digitals. Ive had to return 2 of them 🤦🏻so i ended up getting the analog one instead
@@luisdiaz9142 yeah, I had to return one as well. I have like three of them. Sagola makes a great one for $50
what do you think on using this gun with single stage paint
I think this gun would do just fine. I don't shoot a lot of single stage these days but have in the past with guns that are similar with no problem. Appreciate the comment and support!
I have a compressor thats 3.7 which gun can i use
