    An appeal to the greatest chess analyst in the world (at least on TH-cam) - these rapid games are all fine. Would love to see you go in-depth on the Kasparov-Karpov, Kasparov-Kramnik and Anand-Kramnik championship matches as we all wait for actual classic games to start.

    The position at 14:00 is indeed a "KNIGHTMARE"

    This is one of the most instructive games I have seen in a long time. Very digestible positional concepts that the amateur can incorporate into his game. Very, very satisfying.

      Only the Kf8 move is tricky to imcorporate. More often than not it will be bad.
      Since we only can calculate some forced varriatons, but often a slow move will kill the advantage.
      But in general indeed brilliant concenptual game, with a nice topping of Kf8

    Well this is fitting! I actually have been playing that a6 move in QGD as black for a few years now even without really studying it that much. For me the possibilities of expanding on the queenside just makes the move feel natural. Less clamping and somewhat more space, good squares for my bishop and knight behind the pawns.
    So glad to see a humble 1900 or so rated like me manages to occasionally come by with similar ideas with the World Champion!
    Again thanks to GM King for the video!

    Thanks for the fantastic analysis as always! Do you think you might analyze any bishops gambit varations of the kings gambit? I play that as white in Blitz and have tremenous success. Everybody seems to expect Nf3 and so get caught off guard

    At 9:44 what if White plays g4, as the knight is pinned to the other one behind it?
    I don't know. These two play such subtle games.

    • @456death654
      @456death654 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I was to guess “g4 nxg4 hxg4 nxe4 and by the looks of it I wouldn’t want to be white but maybe white is okay, our man Daniel should have maybe covered this

    • @comic4relief
      @comic4relief 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@456death654 @Leigh Kaposi You mean Nxe3, I guess. Yes, maybe Naka chose not to go in for that.

  • @marcwordsmith
    @marcwordsmith 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    At about 9:44, Mr. King shows us that if Black captures a pawn with Nxf5, White has compensation after Nc5 etc. But after Nxc5 in that line, won't White just win a knight after g4?

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After 20...Nxf5 21 g4 Black gets a huge attack after 21...Nxg4 22 hxg4 Nxe3.

    This is somehow reminiscent of a Karpov game the way that Carlsen just completely shut down Hikaru’s play.

    I'm wondering instead of BxB on d6 why can't white play bishop back to g3 or even Nge2 in this position?

  • @thomaskember4628

    I have just been looking at Alekhin's first book of his games. In it there is a game where Rubinstein play 3..a6. It is slightly different to this game because Alekhin had played Nf3
    instead of Nc3. He says ..a6 is a loss of time and he played c5 and goes on to win a marvellous game. Has c5 been shown to be not so good?

    If white queen take in b7 after black council, there is rook f to b8 and the queen is lost (more powerful than knight to a5)

    Recently I've seen a great game between Aljechin and Keres on a russian chess chanel.

    The real problem for W is not the Black knights but rather he has that horrible bishop stuck inside a light square pinball machine :)

  • @Electronite1978

    Either Naka overestimated his changes after f4 or he simply over pushed. He was leading the second day and had no reason to go all in as draw in this game would have been a good result. His decision to play so aggressively was rather suspicious.

  • @jozecudeen78
    @jozecudeen78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Naka always gets impatient and tries to win vs Carlsen by force, that's why he loses most of the time. If he wants to have any chance at all against him he needs to learn to play sound and solid, kind of like Nepo is starting to practice more and more, that's another reason why he has risen up the standings. I love Naka because of his attractive playstyle but he should get more serious if he ever wants to contest for the world championship.

    Not a Naka fan, but I am put off a bit by Daniel always referring to him as a speed specialist. Nakamura has been one of the top classical players in the world for 15-years. He got as high as number 2 in the world in classical time format. So, he is hardly just a speed specialist.

    • @comic4relief

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Of course Nakamura is an excellent classical player, but he is also a speed specialist. And at the moment, that is practically all he does!

    Strange how every single move Magnus makes gets a compliment, and Hikaru's moves get nothing, yet the computer evaluation says game is completely even. Daniel is a good commentator, until it comes to Magnus games, where he becomes a fan boy (as children say)

    • @jasondoe2596
      @jasondoe2596 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did you even watch the video? He praised Naka's moves many times.
      Also, it's possible to keep the tactics in check and maintain a computer evaluation close to 0, and yet be outplayed strategically... Which is what happened here.
