    Daniel, everyday I teach chess to my father now and I always drink some tea just to say: "let me take another slurp of tea while you think" haha. Thank you!

    The variations shown complement the game so well, not to mention the recall of Tal Botvinnik WC game with a similar knight maneuver. Excellent commentary as always. Long live the King!

    1.30 in the morning. Looking through games in the Skilling Open. Come across Nakamura - Firouzja, round 14. Looks amazing, how can I understand this game better I think to myself. Wonder what Daniel King has chosen to comment on today is my next thought. I check it out and it's this game. Posted 13 minutes ago... Thank you Danny!

    Beautiful queen sacrifice, beautiful knight, and beautiful commentary. Thank you GM King.

    Wow... even though that queen sac didn't lead to mate, the dominance of Nakamura's knight once the dust settled for the endgame was amazing. In the heart of the opponent's position, stopping Alireza's knight, king and pawns from moving all at once. I hate it when I get down to an equal-material endgame and then realise just how good the opponent's pieces are... and it happens often! Hindsight is 20/20.

    You called the cluster of pawns on c3,c4 and d4 a pawn constellation. Missing the opportunity to lay claim to a portmanteau I rather like. A pawnstellation.

    Thanks for showing this game. Them Knight moves and preventions is a great lesson to show Novices about why and how you should use the Knight.

    Probably one of, if not Naka's best game. Just how that queen sac didn't lead to a direct win, but how he had to be precise for the win. That knight at the end was worthy of an immortal.

    💯 percent sure if I had white @16:45 would have snap played Nf8+ to fork the king and the pawn. Didn’t even look at c5 but man what a move. So logical after looking at it. Thanks mr. King for the commentary.

    What about ...Qa8 rather than ...Qc8, with the idea of defending via ...Nc7 protecting pawn on e6 and bringing the king around as per the game, but with more of a fortress?

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are not being rude at all, and I am aware of how it ought to be pronounced in Norwegian: I have successfully ordered reinkjøtt in Norway and I know how to pronounce the name of Manchester United's manager! But the Norwegian presenter of the event says the anglicised 'Skilling', and I am going with that. I have made my choice, and it isn't out of (complete) ignorance.

    Mr. King please do not use the Islamic regime's official flag (with the spider emblem) for Alireza.
    He does not play under this flag, so no reason to use it. Usually he is represented just with FIDE flag.

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flag is generated by the ChessBase software and it hasn't caught up with political developments!
