I’m a current opiate user and she has some of them telltale signs of opiate abuse But she’s no longer with us anymore now though

I am a recovering addict myself and still struggle with low self esteem. I hope she finds better influence than other drug addicts. The first thing I thought is she looked anorexic. Especially when I saw her ribcage cleavage. Yes, this patient is definitely not stable and not suitable to undergo any surgery, not to mention it's plastic surgery. Any surgeon with a bit sense of responsibility should refuse her request and point her in the way to use that eye surgery money on rehab/fixing anorexia/psychiatrists...
She probably spends money that isnt hers along with her own money. I wouldnt be surprised if she sells drugs or is a sugar baby to someone. Maybe her "boyfriend" is really her sugar daddy. Aw I genuinely feel bad for her :( Its so obvious she lacks confidence in herself and thinks she is uglier than she really is. I have the same issue but its just even sadder to see it on someone else. The way she avoids eye contact and always looks down...her sad eyes - you can tell she's been through a lot. Anorexia can be a very debilitating disease. I can understand how doing the photo shoots and modeling can help her with her self esteem. She's so cute and so sweet, she's such a beautiful person and I hope she realizes this fully one day.

Kirk Holt I believe her, if you were anorexic, you loose your hunger feeling after some time, so it's pretty easy to forget to eat and it's hard to eat more if you already feel totally full and like you have overeaten after a small portion of food and it takes a really long time to don't feel guilty anymore for every bite of food, it took myself years for that (I was anorexic myself, on some days I didn't eat and on the days I did it wasn't more than a maximum of 3 bites and even for that I felt guilty) I'm not anorexic anymore, but I'm still very thin, even though I feel I eat a lot I'm not getting hungry ever, so if I'm busy I tend to forget to eat and just remember that I have to eat when it's already 9pm or so, even though I haven't eaten one bite the whole day :/ That I often feel like I have already eaten a ton of food, while I have eaten nothing and every bite feels like my collom is about to explode cuz of overeating doesn't help either....
@Floofi Floof yep, so true. like if you were severely anorexic and even if you get help for it, youll still have some symptoms afterwards just not as severe as before. for instance, youll always be mindful of what you eat but you wont count calories like you used to. youll still have a workout routine but it wont be as strict as before. all in all youll still have a love/hate relationship with food.
Anorexia is an illness not a body type... you can be anorexic and not be very skinny and be very skinny and not be anorexic. Clearly she’s still very very thin but i think she definitely knows and understands more about her own mental and physical health than you do.

Unfortunately, it appears that sometime in 2017/2018 she began to do drugs with her boyfriend, & deteriorated quickly after their split. It was reported that she passed away sometime in 2020. Such a shame. She was such a pretty, sweet & intelligent girl. Unfortunately, her mental health issues & drugs got the best of her. PS That doctor should be ashamed of himself.

Poor Ophelia is now deceased (as of April 18, 2020; aged 34). There's a coroner's record from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office with her birth name on it that's available online (aka Lisa Zhang; she was public about her birth name so I don't think I am doing anything wrong by posting it). I had a brief online conversation with Ophelia once, and she seemed like a nice person. It's a shame that her life went as it did.

What scares me is that this doctor is ignoring her health and performing surgery on her. I honestly don’t know bc I haven’t been under the knife but I would think you would have to meet certain health requirements to be under any form of anesthetic or cut and lose any amount of blood. She didn't go under general anesthesia, thats why. He just numbed her eyelids. I'm sure he asked her if she has any bleeding disorders and made her sign paperwork.

Yeah, I don't think it's wrong for plastic surgeons to perform eyelid surgery in general. But i do think it's wrong to perform plastic surgery on someone with a plastic surgery addiction. Some people have so many surgeries that they begin to endanger their health. She talks about her struggles with self esteem and anorexia and says she uses plastic surgery to give herself confidence. I feel like she's looking for something she'll never find in plastic surgery because confidence doesn't really come from your outward appearance.
its not unethical as long as it is consented and patient is informed of the dangers and side effect that would happen to them. medical school is very expensive so of course some doctors would take cases like this to pay off their debt even if it isnt their cup of tea. not all doctors would want to accept such cases and most would reject. but these cases arent very common, people do minor surgeries but not to this extreme. Its only unethical if it was done by an unlicensed practitioner or the surgeon did not follow proper protocol rules. There were instances of illegal surgery done where the poor girl could not close her eyes shut to the point she attempted suicide because she could not sleep peacefully at all
Despite the way she talks (no matter the cause) she seems like an intelligent person who is artistic, self aware & could really bloom. She is aware she has not fully recovered from anorexia & had the balls to come out & say she wants to look Caucasian but she is too emotionally unstable to link her problems & stop herself from acting on these unhealthy thoughts & obsessions. I hope she focuses on healthier long term goals, money towards therapy would help her more than any surgeries. I hope she gets happier & can become her true self I can see peaking through this shell she has created; I really wish the best for her.

They refused to give them if they are doing for their boyfriends/girlfriends, depression, and many more. Except she really doesn't. Anyone familiar with psychology knows there is wayyyyyy more going on for her than what she said with her mouth. She's not just "trying to improve her self-confidence" or wanting 4-6 ribs removed after supposedly "not having an eating disorder anymore". Additionally her need to not JUST 'look like Barbie' but *specifically* "look more Caucasian" is also evidence of way more going on for her underneath that she completely left out (and may not even be aware of herself). She is definitely not fully in touch with why she wants the things she wants.

I have to disagree. When someone demonstrates very severe body dysmorphia and has a history of an eating disorder (one they also seem to be in denial about in regards to their recovery), it is a trickier situation. It's one thing to engage in body modification as a means to take ownership of yourself, do what you want, and customize yourself to be the best you However, it's another to have procedures that are bred from severe negative self-image, body dysmorphia and a repeated insistence to not JUST to look like Barbie but very specifically "as Caucasian as possible". I've no issue with people doing literally ANYTHING to their bodies in the name of identity, agency, confidence, etc. But, any plastic surgeon will tell you that if you have no confidence or security in ANY part of who you are as is, and are looking to body modification to fix that and GIVE you that confidence, it will never work. You will just need more and more surgeries bc you'll never be satisfied. It's the same mechanism in eating disorders. Aiming for a goal weight, getting there, and realizing it's still not enough; you still hate yourself, still not good enough. It's a mental health issue here, not a secure/stable person looking to enhance or alter. Also, the laundry list of procedures that she said she still wants - like FOUR to SIX ribs removed, skin bleaching, etc - is severely concerning. She displayed all the signs for someone who is not a safe plastic surgery candidate and actually seems to be *lacking* a considerable amount of self-awareness. It may SOUND like she knows what she wants and why, but is actually leaving out crucial elements. There are others "hooked on the look" for whom I think it's silly, but they are of sound mind, just DIFFERENT mind. This is someone with a mental illness - self-admitted - who is looking to body reconstruction as a means to become a literal different person bc they cannot tolerate the person they are right now. That's not healthy, and we can actually FIX that issue....without putting her life at risk a million times and _still_ leaving her unhappy with herself.

I went down the rabbit hole regarding this woman and wow. She has had a tragic life. She passed away, looks like about a year ago from this posting. She had Grave's disease, which is why her eyes look wonky in the pre-op pic, and she was a heroin addict. I wish she would have loved herself more; maybe she would still be here today.

The first thing I thought is she looked anorexic. Especially when I saw her ribcage cleavage. She also sounds and looks like she was twitching throughout much of the documentary, whether that's from drugs, anorexia or some kind of disability I don't know, but I would say it's irresponsible performing surgery on her.

Aw I genuinely feel bad for her :( Its so obvious she lacks confidence in herself and thinks she is uglier than she really is. I have the same issue but its just even sadder to see it on someone else. The way she avoids eye contact and always looks down...her sad eyes - you can tell she's been through a lot. These surgeries are definitely not going to make her feel any better about herself but I hope one day she can be comfortable in her own skin and be happy

Kirk Holt I believe her, if you were anorexic, you loose your hunger feeling after some time, so it's pretty easy to forget to eat and it's hard to eat more if you already feel totally full and like you have overeaten after a small portion of food and it takes a really long time to don't feel guilty anymore for every bite of food, it took myself years for that (I was anorexic myself, on some days I didn't eat and on the days I did it wasn't more than a maximum of 3 bites and even for that I felt guilty)
I'm not anorexic anymore, but I'm still very thin, even though I feel I eat a lot
I'm not getting hungry ever, so if I'm busy I tend to forget to eat and just remember that I have to eat when it's already 9pm or so, even though I haven't eaten one bite the whole day :/
That I often feel like I have already eaten a ton of food, while I have eaten nothing and every bite feels like my collom is about to explode cuz of overeating doesn't help either....
You can still look anorexic after you overcome anorexia. I personally know that from experience.
@Floofi Floof yep, so true. like if you were severely anorexic and even if you get help for it, youll still have some symptoms afterwards just not as severe as before. for instance, youll always be mindful of what you eat but you wont count calories like you used to. youll still have a workout routine but it wont be as strict as before. all in all youll still have a love/hate relationship with food.

Unfortunately, it appears that sometime in 2017/2018 she began to do drugs with her boyfriend, & deteriorated quickly after their split. It was reported that she passed away sometime in 2020. Such a shame. She was such a pretty, sweet & intelligent girl. Unfortunately, her mental health issues & drugs got the best of her.

There's a coroner's record from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office with her birth name on it that's available online (aka Lisa Zhang; she was public about her birth name so I don't think I am doing anything wrong by posting it). I had a brief online conversation with Ophelia once, and she seemed like a nice person. It's a shame that her life went as it did.

What scares me is that this doctor is ignoring her health and performing surgery on her. She didn't go under general anesthesia, thats why. He just numbed her eyelids. I'm sure he asked her if she has any bleeding disorders and made her sign paperwork.

Yeah, I don't think it's wrong for plastic surgeons to perform eyelid surgery in general. But i do think it's wrong to perform plastic surgery on someone with a plastic surgery addiction. Some people have so many surgeries that they begin to endanger their health. She talks about her struggles with self esteem and anorexia and says she uses plastic surgery to give herself confidence. I feel like she's looking for something she'll never find in plastic surgery because confidence doesn't really come from your outward appearance.
its not unethical as long as it is consented and patient is informed of the dangers and side effect that would happen to them. medical school is very expensive so of course some doctors would take cases like this to pay off their debt even if it isnt their cup of tea. not all doctors would want to accept such cases and most would reject. but these cases arent very common, people do minor surgeries but not to this extreme.
Its only unethical if it was done by an unlicensed practitioner or the surgeon did not follow proper protocol rules. There were instances of illegal surgery done where the poor girl could not close her eyes shut to the point she attempted suicide because she could not sleep peacefully at all

Despite the way she talks (no matter the cause) she seems like an intelligent person who is artistic, self aware & could really bloom. She is aware she has not fully recovered from anorexia & had the balls to come out & say she wants to look Caucasian but she is too emotionally unstable to link her problems & stop herself from acting on these unhealthy thoughts & obsessions. I hope she focuses on healthier long term goals, money towards therapy would help her more than any surgeries. She's not just "trying to improve her self-confidence" or wanting 4-6 ribs removed after supposedly "not having an eating disorder anymore". I have to disagree. When someone demonstrates very severe body dysmorphia and has a history of an eating disorder (one they also seem to be in denial about in regards to their recovery), it is a trickier situation. It's one thing to engage in body modification as a means to take ownership of yourself, do what you want, and customize yourself to be the best you However, it's another to have procedures that are bred from severe negative self-image, body dysmorphia and a repeated insistence to not JUST to look like Barbie but very specifically "as Caucasian as possible".
I've no issue with people doing literally ANYTHING to their bodies in the name of identity, agency, confidence, etc. But, any plastic surgeon will tell you that if you have no confidence or security in ANY part of who you are as is, and are looking to body modification to fix that and GIVE you that confidence, it will never work. You will just need more and more surgeries bc you'll never be satisfied. It's the same mechanism in eating disorders. Aiming for a goal weight, getting there, and realizing it's still not enough; you still hate yourself, still not good enough. It's a mental health issue here, not a secure/stable person looking to enhance or alter.
Also, the laundry list of procedures that she said she still wants - like FOUR to SIX ribs removed, skin bleaching, etc - is severely concerning. She displayed all the signs for someone who is not a safe plastic surgery candidate and actually seems to be *lacking* a considerable amount of self-awareness. It may SOUND like she knows what she wants and why, but is actually leaving out crucial elements.
There are others "hooked on the look" for whom I think it's silly, but they are of sound mind, just DIFFERENT mind. This is someone with a mental illness - self-admitted - who is looking to body reconstruction as a means to become a literal different person bc they cannot tolerate the person they are right now. That's not healthy, and we can actually FIX that issue....without putting her life at risk a million times and _still_ leaving her unhappy with herself.

I went down the rabbit hole regarding this woman and wow. She has had a tragic life. She passed away, looks like about a year ago from this posting. She had Grave's disease, which is why her eyes look wonky in the pre-op pic, and she was a heroin addict. I wish she would have loved herself more; maybe she would still be here today.

I was thinking the same thing. The anesthesiologist is supposed to turn the patient away if she has drugs in her system. The combination can be lethal.
That is why people who take drugs should be honest to the doctors because drug addicts respond differently to anesthesia. No one wants to wake up in the middle of the surgery 😂
