Speaking as a fat woman who is working on it, a lot of doctors do really blame everything on BMI to the point of not looking any further. Yes, we know it has an impact on a lot of health conditions. But it didn't cause my endometriosis and lowering my BMI won't cure it either. And same with some other medical conditions. It gets really frustrating.
Doctors make a prognosis off what they see, then ignore what they hear. They see someone large come in and it's weight issues, when I went in mine thought I wanted drugs... I had an infection, so I guess yeah I wanted drugs but specific ones xD. I think it can be a little bit difficult however for a doctor, weight can cause a lot of issues, and if you come in heavy then the doctor will need to ensure the weight is not the problem. Sometimes, information can deter a doctor from the weight due to it not actually make sense in the case, but there are a bunch of things affected. Basically, I understand a doctors POV in the weight issues, however I also understand your POV as your issue had nothing to do with weight.
While I'm not overweight, in fact I'm underweight, it must be so infuriating and disappointing for what could be conditions that have nothing to do with BMI get shoved over and then the doc just ends up with, "Lose some weight." Like that's going to do anything to the condition! [And yes, obesity does have an impact on some health conditions BUT not all]
I caught that too. Medical gaslighting is the worst. All of my problems would disappear if I lost some weight and just decided to not be sad. This does not address my fibromyalgia, my ptsd, or my chronic headaches and migraines. My fibromyalgia took years to be properly diagnosed. My daughter has been dealing with a lot of gaslighting too, but she’s not considered overweight. It took almost 20 years to learn that she was autistic!

It’s so funny, I’ve been a nurse for over ten years and quite often I’ll have family and friends ask about this or that or what abnormal lab results could mean and most of the time I will very quickly spit out an answer off the top of my head or explain a certain disease or disorder off top of my head and when I fact check myself and realize I was exactly right I get JUST AS EXCITED! Lol sometimes it just amazes me how much you really remember from school when it was so long ago lol

@@DoctorMike I'm rather disappointed in you Doctor mike, why are you promoting this garbage hyper-processed gunk from quest nutrition? You in a lot of debt or something? I thought you were all about "not taking predatory sponsorships" or where that only for "cure products"? Well your "debunking" of lunchables are now null and void cause you are no better, shame on you, don't you make enough money? I'm in a lot of debt myself, mostly due to taking a moral stance of not misusing people and gaining money for myself on the misuse of others. You might think it's a choice for people to buy your product or not, thats not how it works. People WILL buy what you promote no matter what, so is that really a choice then? In my mind, no, cause that's already chosen. People who cant afford the things you promote WILL buy them if you promote them just because it's you, mr "im so high and mighty moral doctor". I don't view you much different from those tv doctors now, and that makes me sad, how far the mighty have fallen. Don't stray too far from the beaten path or you might find yourself lost. Trying to fill the void in your heart with money will only make it grow larger, STOP NOW before it's too late, before it gets worse... Please.
Alot of my symptoms get worse at night and keep me awake so I end up doing things in the afternoon and at night to distract myself from pain and discomfort including most of my housework. I then end up sleeping in the morning from dawn to lunchtime... I also nap when I can. I live with a rare type of bipolar spectrum disorder. My inherited susceptibility to develop bipolar spectrum disorder was triggered by months of pain, discomfort and not getting much sleep at all. For years I tried to change my sleep habits and sleep like the average person. I ended up worse off to the point I didn't want to be here anymore. I developed Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome because I pushed myself so hard to try to get back to normal. Instead of getting better from a bad back injury I ended up bed bound with my disabled mum looking after me. Years of slowly losing the ability to do anything for myself. Then i gave up on having a "normal" schedule and started sleeping when I was tired and could get to sleep. I'm still recovering from being bed bound ten years later, still basically house bound. My abilities will never match up to the normal/typical/average person my age but I'm aiming to be the best I can be. If you are still reading this I have one piece of advice: If you have to sleep or nap whenever your body/mind cooperates then do it and shape the rest of your life around when you sleep the best. There are a lot of work / tasks that need doing when the people who work during the day are sleeping or jobs that you can do no matter the time... Find what works for you in this season of your life and do it. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
slp here! this is so nuanced but i believe loud sounds typically damage the cilia / hair cells in the cochlea over time which is what causes hearing loss from noise exposure (and cannot be repaired). the eardrum is usually safe from long term exposure to loud sounds (but it can rupture - which is typically immediate hearing loss, or there’s damage to the middle ear bones). figured id drop that tidbit of information here:)

8:53 I'd never heard about "nap-a-latte", and what I found was this : "you cool down a cup of drip coffee, which has the highest caffeine content. You drink it very quickly and then you take a 20-minute nap. The caffeine hits your system approximately 20 to 25 minutes, you get enough stage-one, stage-two sleep and you're good for four hours". That "has been shown to improve alertness and mental acuity in several studies", but it's important to remember that "it cannot replace a quality night of sleep".

09:25 There’s dynamite because it’s _Bizarro_ and every comic has the same set of items you have to find around it. I only remember the following five off the top of my head: > a stick of dynamite > a slice of pie > a UFO > a screaming rabbit > an eyeball
My boss mentioned that there were Christmas decorations at the local superstore...in early October. So, I have been inspired to create the ultimate Halloween costume: Time Flies. It consists of: an ugly sweater with a deer on it (I'm from a state where November 15 is considered a holiday, too), a pair of Thanksgiving turkey earrings, an eyeglass chain with bats on it, and a New Year's tiara.
The problem with the 60% thing is that completely depends on what headphones and what device you're using. So just keep it as low as works for you. If the environment can easily drown them out even on max either your device is one built intentionally low powered to protect your hearing and you're using open back headphones or you need to live with hearing protection.
Another issue is that video/audio files have different volume levels. For one video 40% is the same as 60%, and in a different video it's 80%. I wish to use dBA instead of percent.

Bad news, if you damage your hearing, your brain say "hey usually I'm able to hear stuff better, why's it so quiet? Guess I'll fill in that blank with this tinnitus". Also, are you possibly on the spectrum? Someone close to me is autistic and they are also particularly sensitive to sounds.
I have read many books, I listened to many TH-cam videos by many of the world's leading gurus and health experts but nothing came close to “the hidden herbs” by anette ray. I recommend everyone giving it a read.

So yeah. Thanksss❤❤❤❤
5:07 lol this one made me laugh then it made me sad 😆 Every doctor I’ve ever seen has basically told me to go away and come back when I’m less fat. (I’m not even that fat🥲) 5’7, 180 LB. I’m only a little fat 😅 Pretty sure being chubby isn’t why I have ADHD and insomnia or why I get panic attacks or chronic ear infections.
I have an allergy to pollens since childhood and it gets worse during changing seasons. So, one time I started sneezing and my mother counted it to be around 64 non-stop sneezes 😂
7:00 Well, the very easy solution is: Do not eat fish. There is loads of other food options out there and the omega 3 you can get from algae, e.g. Omega 3 oil made from algae. (Fun fact: Fish are rich in omega 3 because they eat those algae. Why not go to the source directly?)
I’ve had some really horrible experiences with doctors. Mike helps me to remember that some doctors are just smart dudes that care about people. I actually watch Dr. Mike videos before I go to the doctor to help me remember to let the doctors help me.

1:17 and thats why i have my decibel limiter for my headphones set to 70db. Thats as high as they will play, even on full blast. I was shocked, because when i opened the soundcore app, it said i was listening at 85 Decibels, and it was normal for me. After a few weeks my ears adjusted, and now i usually listen to music in the 50-60 db range :)
1:08 I would say bellow 85 dBA should be what you aim for, not really 60%. for example my computer at 60% is 75 dBA on big head phone but 82 dBA on my smaller headphone. so definately should get a check for it, not really aim for a percentage, but 60% do be quite accurate a lot of the time
What’s the best way to determine the dBA on AirPods if you know? I’ve been following the 50-60% rule in trying to manage tinnitus and hyperacusis but this makes me want to try for dBA instead
Another issue is that video/audio files have different volume levels. For one video 40% is the same as 60%, and in a different video it's 80%. I wish to use dBA instead of percent.
it just the general idea, but if you don't have measuring tools, just let it match the level of a conversation or your ears don't feel discomfort. it's hard to truly determent without tools, so like I said, just put it bellow 60% should be fine like Dr.Mike said

@@porfiriodiazcarrillo7551You meant… Oh wow wow wow…………………………………wow.
@@porfiriodiazcarrillo7551 Look I'm going to need you to get all the way off my back about a wild Ryan George appearance.
This. Honestly the fact that he's addressed fatphobia in healthcare and didn't get the meme is a little shocking.
It took almost 20 years to learn that she was autistic!
and in my case, he’s useless so everything is heartburn… I have heartburn rarely and know what it’s like and that’s not what’s causing my endo or my hEDs or anything like that…
4:15 the Walmart I work at already put up Christmas decorations for sale and it's not even October.
Our supermarket had Lebkuchen, types of yule logs, cinnamone stars and other christmas sweets since the start of September 🙃 how
-Not complaining about the Lebkuchen tho, the chocolate ones are delish-
Kmart has both Christmas and Halloween stuff on display and it's such a clash
"The Christians are oppressing me by suppressing Halloween with their Christmas stuff!" -me if I were as sensitive as the "don't say 'happy holidays'" folks
TBH, it’s not like Christmas stuff is very Christian anyways

It’s so funny, I’ve been a nurse for over ten years and quite often I’ll have family and friends ask about this or that or what abnormal lab results could mean and most of the time I will very quickly spit out an answer off the top of my head or explain a certain disease or disorder off top of my head and when I fact check myself and realize I was exactly right I get JUST AS EXCITED! Lol sometimes it just amazes me how much you really remember from school when it was so long ago lol
I hate that nightshift meme because THAT'S HOW I FEEL IN THE MORNING. Night shift is HEALTHY for certain people while morning shift is not.
That’s what I say in the video!! :)
@@DoctorMike Exactly and I love that you recognized it. So many people look at that meme and go "yup that's right 100% of the time." We gave morning people too much power lmao. Why is it not okay to be too tired at 7am but it's okay to be too tired at 7pm
If you are still reading this I have one piece of advice:
If you have to sleep or nap whenever your body/mind cooperates then do it and shape the rest of your life around when you sleep the best.

5:48 Night shifts are so much better. I have NO idea how people can manage to wake up before noon! That's WAY too early and I just feel miserable 😂

1:03 dude, I’d PREFER to damage my hearing, I hate how sensitive it is, I need to use noise cancelling headphones, and I always listen with like 5% - 20% volume cause it HURTS to have it any louder

Bad news, if you damage your hearing, your brain say "hey usually I'm able to hear stuff better, why's it so quiet? Guess I'll fill in that blank with this tinnitus".
