After I seen this video I instantly contacted the lease company and have asked them to confirm I will be getting the facelift version :) Pictures and videos of the E class don't do it justice, I visited my local showroom recently and seen an E AMG Line Night Edition Saloon in the flesh, the car is absolutely stunning! Hi Thomas, first thanks for another great review. Just one thing; you seem to have sped up a bit. :o)
    In any case, I have owned a E 350d for almost three years now with cool specs, here is a sample:
    - Callaite Green (elegant color shifts in blue/green depending on the light!)
    - designo beige/espresso brown interior with matt brown wood (opted out on the glossy walnut)
    - Exchanged the standard grille for the diamond grill
    - 20 inch wheels (same as in this video)
    - Air suspension
    - Keyless Go
    - Engine protection plate (great investment)
    - Multi LED
    - Burmester Surround (not the 3D-version...)
    - and more
    I'm happy with the facelift, except for the lights, both front and back. In my opinion it looks a little too "babyish" for the E-class. They look a little bit too much A-class sedan. I think they are nice, but E-Class needs more sophistication.
    The steering wheel looks sporty and elegant (difficult combo to achieve) and I'm happy to see that the leather is still on the wheel, because it gives great grip. The downside that I see is the move to touch-controls, where MB is not alone. My opinion is that touch screens and touch controls do not belong anywhere near the driving seat! Worst place possible is the steering wheel - how are you supposed to know what you are tocuhing/pressing without looking down? Mechanical controls you can feel and identify while you don't have to draw your attention away from the road.
    I am so looking forward to acquiring the E 300 de in the near future, but if I understood the engine talk correctly in the video, there is/will be a hybrid electrical engine also with the 6-cylinder?
    Thanks again for being the best car reviewer channel on TH-cam...in full screen and full HD! :o)

    • @robertninic5555
      @robertninic5555 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps it just needs to be seen live in complete version. Another thing, though...those 20 inch wheels - not to recommend in Scandinavian countries or other northern countries where spiked winter wheels are used. The roads erode every year, quickly become bad and make poor circumstances for these kind of wheels. On the continent in Europe - no problem, since the roads are very good and always even.

    it looks worse (that double spoked one is FUGLY as hell), it works worse. current steering wheel with alu buttons is the perfect one, i cant imagine a better steering wheel. this is a HUGE step back, HUGE!

    As an owner of a W212 I put 220,000 miles on I can tell you that at least 90% of the parts that failed started with "204" meaning they are C-Class parts. A trend i dislike is the E-Class is becoming a dumping ground for 204/205 parts that simply don't last. Like the W213 and W212 use the same W204 Blower motor that seems to break like clock work around 175K miles.

  • @SDav21
    @SDav21 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mercedes MUST focus on the material quality and ESPECIALLY the BUILD quality. The current desperately needs it. It didn't feel solid and that shiny centre stack piece NEEDS to go ASAP. It cheapens the experienceif it is not in a wood grain or something else other than that glossy black plastic. I see here it is wood and I hope that's standard across the range. The W212 facelift felt more solid inside. Even the door closing sound. I'm glad they've stretched the rear lights again. Makes it look wider like the elegant W212 facelift. I hope it has some form of 2 led strips to distinguish it though. But Mercedes, BUILD and MATERIAL quality please! Focus. It's why after i test drove the W213 I decided to rather stick with my W212. Sad though that there's no more normal V8 model. The inline 6 engines should at least be the base engine.

  • @scrumcristian
    @scrumcristian 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The new steering wheel looks cheap, the tailights are going to DECREASE it's class and style factor and take it into sad CLA/A-class sedan design territory, BIG/HUGE mistake if you ask me, and to be honest, the Mercedes cars of 2018 look WAY better!! They are the best and will remain so until the company goes full-electric, which will happen in the next 3-5 years, or else they'll be gone and I'll have to explain to my kid why Dad was fan of a car manufacturer that no longer exists...

    the outside of this car is BORING and bordering on fugly!! and that steering wheel belongs in a child's pedal car. call me a relic, but just about the only epic cars that Mercedes Benz have produced since 2000 are the GT-S and the SLS. the first C63s were impressive also, but the C and E class have only gotten progressively boring in outside appearance. they will not stand the test of time. the S class roof lines are ridiculously stupid. anyone over 5'10" needs to wear a helmet when climbing into the back seat in order to avoid a concussion. and please stop calling anything a "four door coupe". it's stupid since the actual definition of a coupe is literally a vehicle with two doors. i grew up in a Mercedes Benz family and was riding around in the back seat of the old fintails before i could walk. I'm disappointed in the bland look that most of the Benzes have adopted over the last two decades. and it's still too early to tell, but i wonder what will become of all the tech in these cars in 20, 30, or even 50 years from now. my last Benz was a pristine '89 560SEL which was fully functional and serviceable even 30 years later. i think software issues and incurable obsolescence will send the current models to the scrap heap much sooner. i guess I'll be hanging on to my '99 SL500 for a long time. or at least until another designer like Bruno Sacco joins Mercedes Benz.

    I own a C43 AMG. Up until about a year ago, I thought about upgrading to an E class. Not anymore. These cars are dinosaurs. And their other German brethren. Tesla Model 3 Performance will outperform their offerings that are over $20K more expensive, while still having significantly more advanced tech, safety included. And also maintenance costs are practically nonexistent, and there is that minor thing of not having to fuel up every few days. The value proposition for anyone with decent intelligence is just not there when it comes to these Germans. Mercedes better shape up and fast because people in US are ditching their cars and going to Tesla in huge numbers. The same applies to BMW and Audi.

    It's really about time the E-class facelift is coming, i hope they are going to improve their use of interior materials, since the current model lacks in terms of quallity feel in some areas, also im not really thrilled by the plastic single surface on the steering wheel, the current silver nobs definitely look more expensive, also at 9:02 did Mercedes just leak the e-class' headlights and front grill ? Edit: the dual screen mbux being standard is perfect, the current e-class was an embarrassment with the analog diales and the tiny screen surrounded by a big plastik plate.
