i work at an assisted living facility and the residents love this game. Even if they can't fully understand the VIP cards, the general premise of betting and the tension of who will win they like a lot. Fun for all ages for sure.
Yep--TV screen is the way to go over phone or tablet. Another big plus with the app (besides letting EVERYONE play) is that you can adjust the pace of the dice rolls. It's a seemingly minor quality of life feature that really makes a big difference for the better in my opinion. If you're going analog, the board and the horse tokens just look too small. Also, it is too easy to move the horses out of their correct locations with an errant tap. I'm sure the price point of the game limited the component size, but for an otherwise exciting game, the tiny horse racing board seems distractingly disproportionate to the other components. Overall though, it's a lot of fun in a short period of time. It still feels like a luck ride despite the card mitigation you mentioned, but it's hard to get too worked up over the results.
I hadn’t heard of this one but you have convinced me. I am keeping tally of new purchases driven by BGB reviews and will submit my invoice for compensation at the end of the year.
Picked it up and played it the other night with 9 people. It’s awesome. Now we really need to get a custom horse track as the one that comes with the game is pretty small.
Re: getting someone to do the dice rolling, I reckon for those with a suitably young small child, it might be perfect. The child not yet ready for a 'proper' board game, but wants to be part of the social experience and may love being the centre of attention with everyone eager to see the outcome of their rolls. Child labour, don't undersell its advantages ;¬)
Mate, this is the second or third review i've watched -- who are you worried is gonna hear you?? 😂😂 You're talking at "I snuck out of my room past midnight and i'm in the pantry" volume.
I really don't understand the hype about this game. Is pure luck, no educated guess,no manipulation of the race. Real gambling is exciting because the results are random but the money on stake real. How can someone get excited about a game that's pure luck when he doesn't have taken any risk at all? 🤔if i was going to play that "game" i think i would hust randomly throw my chips somewhere without looking and would wait for the announcement of the result. I don't think that paying attention to the race would actually change the result whatsoever..am I so wrong or just the wrong audience for this game?
To increase the excitement, play with real money! I think you may be missing a key rule or aspect of the game. It's a game of waiting for the odds to tilt in the favor of a particular bet and placing that bet before anyone else does. So paying attention to the race definitely matters. For example, if all of my opponents place their bets on the table before the race begins, I can then wait until right before all bets are closed and place the highest paying most probable winning bets and win the game pretty much every single time. Is there luck? Of course, but that's where the excitement comes from. But if that doesn't excite you, this game is probably a pass for you.

Perfect during their chimney sweeping lunch break 👍🏻
Which one would you say is the most fun, Ready Set Bet or Long Shot?
Obviously I like both. Long shot is turn based, RSB is realtime. So decide based on what you prefer in those terms.
@@BoardGameBollocks Thanks! I've been trying to decide between RSB, LS and Winners Circle for my horse racing fix but they're all pretty different.
I hear good things about this game
Just got the game. Looking forward to having issues with my spleen this week. 😄Enjoyed the review.
Do you do weddings?
I’m already married
@@BoardGameBollocks sorry, I meant to officiate.
Could do…do I have to wear priests attire?
@@BoardGameBollocks I hadn't considered that, but now definitely yes
I’ll work out a fee including uniform hire 👍🏻

Turn your tv up then

You’re making educated guesses based on the probability of the horse moving.
