Great video Jeremy. It's nice to see that Yamaha are offering 'more bang for your buck' on the beginner's range of keyboards. I have been using a PSR E-463 for about 3 years and just upgraded to the PSR SX-600. Now that IS an upgrade.

    • @graycolors2879

I agree. The simplest PSR SX model is substantial upgrade from E series. Having 4 modes of each style/accompaniment instead of just 2, transpose/octave buttons on the panel, modulation wheel, better speakers, more sounds and styles available through USB and so on...

They have to care not to hinder sales of the more expensive keyboards. To justify the Genos, PSR SX 900 hasn't the Tyros 3 voices or the revo drums.

@@robfriedrich2822 Have to care to not hinder the sales of those overpriced keyboards? Really? Not all people has able to pay prices high as a flagship phone or a used car, several thousands of dollars just to have a decent keyboard. Stop telling that to Yamaha!!! I mean how crappy do you want cheap beginners keyboard to sound like just not to hinder the sales of those SX, Tyros and Genos???????? Even this e473 still sounds like trash, only has measly improvments!!! When will Yamaha truly improve their sound of their 90s utterly atrocious keyboards?

Yes very good. Got the extended keys version 425 model and the DGX-670. I tend to play the DGX more but if I’m leaving the house the E-425 is where I’m going to. I just put my last old school keyboard the JD-800 in the junk pile. The glue demon finally took it out but 25 years of use isn’t bad. Gone are the days where I’m paying 2-3 grand for a keyboard. That said the Nord stage 4 or the Genos 2 might justify the price but that’s the 4600-5000 $ range. Great review Jeremy, thx

Great demo Jeremy! As usual you are able to spot the most important points. I personally think Yamaha did a pretty decent work on 473 butm honestly i would have expected a major improvement. Super Articolation along higher polyphony, to use that with, better effects and connectivity. this is the minumum after many years of waiting. I would have loved a better improvement of the sequencer , maybe with a simple pattern loop recording capability or phrase recording. Plus, the Sampler section has been incredibly got worse than ever... I didn't understand if is it now possible to sample what you play on the PSR itself and play it back from the sample keys to jam on above it. This could be a quite creative tool for sketching ideas. The groove creator, honestly is a point useless, I have never ever used on 463. Fills and variations, always the same, too many styles rather similar. My conclusion is to get 473 if you do not have any gear as it is a great entry level keyboard. In case you already have 463, i personally think the upgrade is not worth the cost.

The elimination of a "real" sampler on ths e473 made me reurn it and get the e463. However I DO miss the stereo outputs that the e473 has. The e463 only has a headphone out. Both have a fun arpegiator kon them and the rest is pretty much the same for me. With the money I saved buying the e463 I bought a little Yamaha PSS-A50 which is a great little keyboard when I am writing songs and looking for inspiration.

Absolutely, yes! The PSR-E473/PSR-EW425 is definitely worth getting over the previous PSR-E463/PSR-EW410. I was wondering ifvtgese new kryboards have anythingbthe DGX-670 does not hsve, including any sound quality improvements for the voices. But you can't beat the price/value for what this has. The arranger functions is was never my main interest, though they could be useful and zibeould probsbly get your course if I got one. I probably would get the PSR-EW425 as my next keyboard if it wasn't fir the voice synthesizer capabilities of the CT-S1000V. But like I saud, both would be a less expensive alternstive or interim combo set-up to my ideal Roland RD 88 & V-Combo VR-09B.
Another grrat video. I may comment more at a later time. These Yamaha and Casio keyboards keep getting better, while still being reasonably affordable for the incredible features and capabilities from the previous versions.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for your videos. You really give great advice and insight on various keyboards. Can you suggest what is a good keyboard to sample sounds, and also has a step sequencer, and built in mic? I noticed the Korg Kross 1, but I'm not as knowledge about the various keyboards. I wanted a keyboard that I can sample in my chorus lines, and trigger them to play in song mode. I then lay the vocals, and the adlibs. But I was worried about the quantization, which is why I thought that of which keyboard would you suggest that has quantization capabilities and a step sequencer that would help put everything in perfect sync. I was wondering do you know of such a keyboard workstation with those features? Thank you so much for your help and advice. I'm going to send $5 to you as well. Thanks.

El sonido del 463 se escucha con mas cuerpo y profundidad. Un saludo y gracias por tu video.

Thanks alot Jeremy...can the transpose only be set to a maximum of + - 2 ?

As an owner of an ancient psr-e353, which CAN be set to + -12, I would be very confused if the new keyboards only have + -2, and also very disappointed as the transpose feature is one of my most commonly used ones.

Is e-473 good as a beginner keyboard for someone who hasnt touched a piano before? You said that unlike 373 the 473 doesnt have the built in lessons feature? Will i be screwed without them?

Everyone is different. I bought the EZ300 as a beginner (basically the 373 with even better lessons, with its lights - or perhaps I am confused by the models now :) ), and I couldn't get myself to use the lessons for more than a while. I also couldn't get myself to learn on the synth action keys. And I didn't use the styles, basically no keyboard features :) I sold it and got a real digital piano with 88 hammer action keys that just plays the notes I press and am finally happy. I don't need anything more, nor less.

hİ. I write from Turkey as a PSRE E473 owner. I need to learn about registr. memory banks. On the board there are 4 options. But I think that at every bank there are some more bank options. Now the question : How can I reach these additional banks? For example : I choose no1 regist. memory. I need to learn how I can reach other bank option in no1 reg.memory?
Please reply me a.s.a.p. Thank you Jeremy.

Paltry? Miserable? Pretty strong language for such similar instruments. tt really sounds like all they did was increase the A in ADSR and shift some features.
