following your expert advice, I bought E373 in September last year at about USD185. It’s really a great and wonderful keyboard. Although I started learning keyboard at 65 and I’ve completed learning basic keyboard techniques in five months. I’m now enjoying playing music almost every day. Thanks once again Jeremy for your useful comparison and information.
I love seeing comments like this, you can always learn something new everyday and it is NEVER too late, I'm so glad you have made progress, please continue to do so, your comment inspires me to continue learning to play keyboard, I'm currently only 2 weeks in but I'm definitely going to keep learning.

Yamaha E 373 is a great keyboard Do not hesitate to buy cause I just bought it this december 2024 and am 100% Satisfied... it's really a professional basic keyboard but professional with great quality sound amplification are great, speaker are great... it's great I really enjoy it
Excellent comparison, Jeremy. I've owned all three of these keyboards. The PSR E373 is the best value for money, but the added features of the PSR E473 make it much easier to use.
@@gibsonnyata127 The e373 lacks key features that the e473 has. For example, you can turn off each instrument on the styles on the e473, which is very useful. And the expanded digital sound processing on the e473 is nice. For the extra $150 USD, the e 473 is a wiser purchase. You will grow tired of the limitations of the e373.
The PSR-E373 seems like the best value. It's got a much better sound than the 273, and while the 473 sounds slightly better than the 373, it doesn't sound $200 better than the 373.
Wow. This is the best tutorial I've ever seen on youtube. It's perfect. I'm going to buy the E373 as soon as I 'round up the cash in the next few days. You answered a zillion questions for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I want to teach children in children's church how to use the smart chord option after I set all the other buttons so they can easily play our kids songs for others to sing along with. I'll simply label the piano keys, put those notes/keys above the words to our songs on a sheet of paper they can follow, and they can quickly sound like a pro by chording with one finger, while using the pre-set rhythm plus the intro and ending buttons. I did this years ago and had kids playing songs in only 15-20 minutes. We'll also have other simple instruments while I play guitar. I'm so thrilled to find one at a local "Guitar Center" store near me. Wheeee!
Great comparison :). You always explain it so well :). Touch sensitive is a must. And also midi. Even if it's your first piano, you should at least get one with touch sensitive. But that's just my opinion. Bought ew310 last year which is a longer version of e373. Really happy with that piano, because we all know longer is better 😛.

Thank you for your excellent and very informative keyboard comparison. My first keyboard was the Yamaha EZ-300 which I purchased based on your thorough review and recently have been fortunate enough to acquire the DGX670 once again after viewing your informative videos on this fantastic keyboard. You made mention of multi track recording in this video and since there currently are no videos that I am aware of on YT showing how to do this on the DGX670 might you consider creating one for myself and your other subscribers who are new to the myriad of features that this arranger can offer to enhance our musical enjoyment? Yamaha makes great keyboards but Jeremy it is your excellent instructional videos and teaching skills that have motivated all of us to enjoy playing keyboards no matter what level we have achieved in our musical journey. Many thanks and may God bless you and your family.
Surprised that Yamaha degraded the PSR-E273. I have a PSR-275 bought many years ago at Costco. It has velocity senstive keys with 3 levels of sensiitivity. I've been using it to relearn piano. Now I'm looking to upgrade to something that sounds like a real piano with more keys(76/88). Your reviews are very helpful.
Great comparison review👍 Yamaha is the king and queen of trickle down electronics technology. Every few years they up grade and hand me down to the lesser keyboard. Like a child needs new shoes every year because of growth. Over time you end up with a dozen or two shoes that are great shoes but they don’t fit when they were new 🤔🤔 Getting a larger shoe to grow into is something to keep in mind. The key word in all of this is “CHEAP” based on price and as a musician cheap sounding. E with any number is for Education on a low spending level. They are what they are. Yamaha has the best selection for you pay for what you get. There is no real bargains. To the non musical educated listener it all sounds wonderful. I suggest anyone getting an instrument get one that is as much higher than you will use and stretch your $$$ I vestment more. Why? You may grow into it like a child’s shoe, Technology changes every few years and you will be a few years ahead. This is on on the keyboards, PSR’s PSR- SX, Genos and remember Tyros? Bigger spending money with the same trickle down technology. Just like gasoline in a car, you don’t use a full tank in the first mile. Yamaha and any business should have a full tank and let it out as they go down the road. Bottom line is enjoy any instrument you get, just choose wisely, knowledge is power. Awesome review, very informative and you are a blessing to the music world.🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
Great video as always. I am a semi-professional keyboard player, with many decades of packing around B3s, CP 80s, acoustic pianos and such. Well, I am tired of that, so last December, I took a chance and bought a PSR E373. It was light and sounded ok in the store. I have been playing some small shows and gigs around Osooyoos BC all winter and have discovered that I really like this thing. Now, I just walk in with this in one hand and a compact L1 Bose in the other (if needed) . I am going to have to take a good hard look at my remaining heavy keyboards when I get home.
Many Many thanks for this wonderful explanation and comparison of the products. After going through your video, I immediately stopped searching internet because I am sure no one would be better than you. Hats off to you. Thanks once again.
Thanks for this great video and explanation between these keyboards, What I'm looking for is good sound from the device through the MG12XU mixer to two Soundboks 4 gen. Thanks for the great videos over the years Peter Iceland
In my opinion, the best device for home and even little more is e373, it seems an optimal choise for me. Yes, there are only 48 polyfony tones, but it still sounds great. Only one I regret in e373 is pitch bender, it's relly useful thing. Since 2020 I've recorded many songs in my e363 and I consider e373 wont be worse.
Great video! Lots of great info. I have the 273 and 373. I play them both at the same time on a keyboard rack because I find limitations with the split and dual modes on the 373. The 273 was a less expensive option to be able to play more voices at the same time by playing one with my left hand and the other with my right hand, and vice versa. It gives me much more flexibility.
Something unacceptable in the 473 is the decay of timbres like strings even when pressing the pedal. Keyboards like the CTX 800 keep the tone running with the pedal
Thanks for the reply Jeremy. I really like the way you carefully explain things. I am an old analog guy who still struggles at times with the digital world. 🎉 really miss tape distotion and VU meters.
So glad I came across this video, I was just about to order E473 because it has such good sound quality, but I thought I should research a little more and watched this video. I will go for the E373 instead, I’m more into sound quality and don’t want other features like recording or anything, E373 seems to be an okay okay option but ugh I’m still hoping to find one with a better sound quality
Love you man. You just cleared my head in a way I can't thank enough. Definitely going for the 373 since it seems to be the better balanced for a guy like me who knows nothing about music theory yet
This was exactly the information I was looking for. THANK YOU!!!! This comparison was absolutely brilliant and made my buying decision a no-brainer. I am going with the E373. The 273 is too basic, and the 473 has far more features than I need. THANK YOU!!!
Brilliant Thanks for the reviews. We went with the E273 for our kids and a way to introduce them to the keyboard. If they pick it up and show more interest I'm sure there will be an upgrade for a digital Piano....even if its just for show in the house 😀
Nice video comparison, I will still go for the Yamaha Keyboard PSR-E473, and by the way Jeremy See, it cost a lot In my country but it's no excuse for me, caus'I'm saving for it already
This is a complete package of excellent explanation about these 3 models of yamaha psr...it helps me a lot what to choose to buy. Thanks for your review. New subscriber here.
Another good review. I feel that you rushed the bit about DSP controls, as used in Digital Signal Processing. Spending a few seconds to explain them to newbies would be a kindness. Maybe you could pick one specific DSP & show the difference before and after changing from the default setting on the same instrument. Many beginners have no idea what DSPs are. I admit to only having a loose idea myself, but I suppose an example is a virtual opening or closing of a piano lid. Another might be the length of note decay. My piano comes with just a few disguised DSP controls, which are hidden among the functions. I have found that enhancing the sympathetic string reasonance and adding more sustain to the pedal both make my piano feel more dynamic and exciting. Or wouldn't you describe these functions as DSP controls?
So I have a Casio ctx700 but am looking to get a Yamaha because it's got knobs for filter and resonance. But what I wonder is how the sample sound qualities compare...I think ctx samples are good, I don't want something worse and since the e423 is 14 years old...
Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your informative video as always. I did buy a 373.But would be very greatful if you could help in making a video about how to use the lessons functions as my daughter is 5 years and fond of playing it. Thanks once again.
Jeremy did make several tutorials on the PSR-E373...you can take a look, but this one covers basic functions: th-cam.com/video/xubzP_q5UKk/w-d-xo.html (How to Set Voices, Rhythms for Yamaha PSR-E373/EW310/EZ300)
I have a question, is there a product on price range of 100-200 USD but have touch sensitive feature, and also not too big, i mean i like the size of E273 but the lack of touch sensitive makes me think twice.
Which one do I get ? E473 or E373 ? I'm only interested in piano. I"m a beginner, and I want to connect the keyboard 🎹 to PC, to use apps for learning piano ! PS: I have arturia minifuse 2.
Thank you so much. My girlfriend was looking at purchasing the E373. She has waited, so I am getting her one for Christmas. But I was not sure if the E473 was worth the extra money. Your video was exactly what I was looking for more information. That being said, I'm still not sure which one to buy! lol
Hi Jeremy, I love your content and really appreciate the way you explore the nuances of different keyboards! I have a question about the Yamaha PSR-E373 and PSR-E473. Have you explored their MIDI capabilities? Specifically, I’m curious how these keyboards behave when receiving MIDI notes from a DAW. Does the currently active tone play those notes, or is there any other behavior worth noting? Thanks for all the amazing work you do in the keyboard community!
Another amazing review for people ready to buy! For years you've really helped people buy the keyboard that's right for them. In comparing the PSR-EW310 (76 key version of the PSR-373) with the PSR-E473, the sound difference and the styles are much better on the PSR-E473 (IMO) , but I bought it for the microphone input. I was surprised at how smooth it sounded and how you can apply separate DSP effects and volume to the mic. The speakers were stronger than I thought they would be for for amplifying voice. It's nice to be able to skip my big Fender keyboard amp that isn't really flattering to voice, but has a dry, hollow sound, even with reverb. I'm glad I bought the PSR-E473, but I'm keeping the PSR-EW-310. It's a great keyboard and it's also wonderful that the PSR-E373 is available for beginners because it really has nice sounds. I like the extra keys, though, on the EW310... Another one that's really nice is the Casiotone CT-S1000V---well, actually the CT-S500, if you don't want the vocal synth. Wow! Amazing sound with the extra reflex speaker and it's super slim for trips away from home. I'm loving that one too. The sounds are a lot fatter than the CT-X800 that I have and it has a sampler that's pretty nice.. I'm glad it has a modulation knob too. I'm having fun with both the Yamaha and Casio keyboards. Maybe a review on the CT-S500 someday? I'd love to know your thoughts...
@@JeremySee Awesome!... I just did a review on the CT-S1000V...but you are the King of keyboard reviews!! :) I actually loved the CT-S1000V so much that I ended up buying it. I make trips three hours away to see my folks. I usually stay a week at a time and that keyboard is small enough to pack over there.
Aloha, Shelly0624, I am Jeremy's friend from Honolulu, HI, a long time keyboard and music gear addict. I lost count of how much I have spent on music/sound toys/tools over the years. I am a diehard Roland fan, but Yamaha and Casio have great keyboards and good prices for what they have and always improving. My sold so much keyboards abd gear in the past. I still have some, but my present keyboard is my Roland JD-Xi, Roland Go:Keys, and a Yamaha PSS-A50 that seems like a toy, until you see and hear what Masataka Kono can do with them on his videos. IMHO, the Yamaha PSR-E473 slightly edges out the Casio CT-S500, but the Casio is more compact and portable to take on the go, like you do. I was going to get the PSR-EW425 for the bigger 76 note keyboard, until I saw the CT-S1000V. The vocal synthesizer is a Godsend for what I want to do. My JD-Xi has a vocorder but that's different. So I will get the CT-S1000V next. I still might get the PSR-EW425 later, but... I just might wait and get the new Roland Fantom-07 Workstation keyboard. It's almost four tines the price, but it's a compact scaled down version of their huge, heavy flagship Fantom that cost more than twice the price, and is not what I need or want. Just luke the RD 88 Stage pisno was previously my dream top keyboard. It had everything I wanted without the bulk and price of the flagship RD2000 stage piano. I don't need the 88 weighted keys, but the 76 keys is just right, abd the key action on the Fantom 07 in a notch above all other semi-weighted keyboards, with an action halfway between semi-weighted and weighted. The production, performance features snd sound is incredible. But for now, the PSR-E473/EW425 & the CT-S500/S1000V are incredible for their price range. Abd again, Jeremy makes it easy for viewers to decide what is right for them.
Thank you so much for the info and it’s very well explained to understand . I hope you make more video’s on the same Yamaha E373 and the upper grade one.
What's funny is the more I play, the less I care about all these extra features. When I started out I want a lot of features but then I realized I really wasted my money cuz all I ever needed was to turn it on and play and let my skills do the talking. You really need a few, very few features and creativity.
The headphones turn off at random times. Rebooting doesn’t solve the problem. You’ve got to wait a random time to get the headphone output back. The other thing is that voices saved to the bank are saved only partially. When the machine is rebooted some of the saved parameters revert to the (bad) defaults.
@@JeremySee I bought it at the big Yodobashi department store in Osaka, fifty miles from the Yamaha factory. When I returned it under warranty there was a Yamaha representative there. He warned me that as new keyboard might not fix the problem. And it didn't.
That's a brilliant video Jeremy. Thank you so much. I am a harmonium player and starting with Keyboard now. Thinking of the Indian tunes, I am confused between i400, e373 and e473. Can you pls help?
Is Roland e-x20 a good keyboard for a beginner who is 68 years old and it might be the only keyboard he might ever buy 😊. You can recommend any other also.

Great review, Jeremy. Shame non of these Yamahas feature the Fingered on bass setting unlike the Casio CT-X700 which is similarly priced to the PSR-E373.
does that learning feature worth to pay attention at? seems 473 is better than 373 in all aspects and would be great choice for the beginner with the perspective of using it in mid level

I just recently got th E473 and still learning what it can all do!
Sooo.. how is it
Thanks!
Something unacceptable in the 473 is the decay of timbres like strings even when pressing the pedal. Keyboards like the CTX 800 keep the tone running with the pedal
Man, you are just super hero, sooo many useful and detailed reviews here, thank you!!!
Thanks Jeremy. I’m now decided on the 373. Fits my needs.
Thanks for the detailed review. I'm just starting to learn keyboard with an offline tutor. When i purchase my first keyboard I'll go for 373.
This was exactly the information I was looking for. THANK YOU!!!! This comparison was absolutely brilliant and made my buying decision a no-brainer. I am going with the E373. The 273 is too basic, and the 473 has far more features than I need. THANK YOU!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Same conclusion from my side. Going to buy E373.
Wwoow thanks a lot Jeremy !
This is quite exhaustive and straight to the points ;)
I like how you build your videos 😊
one of the best music content I've met through 10 years of youtube surfing ever.
merci beaucoup pour les superbes explications qui vont faciliter mon choix Jeremy excellent travail
Jeremy, your a star! this is the exact comparison that I needed. I couldn't decide 😁
This is a complete package of excellent explanation about these 3 models of yamaha psr...it helps me a lot what to choose to buy. Thanks for your review. New subscriber here.
Thankyou soo much jeremy, this is the most awaited video and i was planning to buy e373 and this video is very useful for me.
Excellent comparison video and just what I was looking for before buying. Thank you!
Thanks for this review.
Glad it was helpful!
@@JeremySee :)
Just what I was looking for. Thank you. Thank you. Good job.
Very useful video. Thank you 🙏🏻
Great comparison video, thanks Jeremy.
Glad you liked it!
Always like your opinion and video.
Thank you, Jermy Yoy You Are The Best! Love Your Work.
I enjoyed the comparison and it being the one we were waiting for. Now i can decide which one is sutible for me. thank you for the video.😀😀
Great feedback buddy.
What an amazing comparison, thank you so much
Thanks for the review. Which one is the winner according to you?
Thank you so much for this video. It is very helpful for me as I plan to buy keyboard for my daughter since she just started learn to play it 😊
Great comparison Mr. Jeremy, its very useful for me... thank you in advance
So I have a Casio ctx700 but am looking to get a Yamaha because it's got knobs for filter and resonance. But what I wonder is how the sample sound qualities compare...I think ctx samples are good, I don't want something worse and since the e423 is 14 years old...
This is the best review, I've ever seen!!
Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your informative video as always. I did buy a 373.But would be very greatful if you could help in making a video about how to use the lessons functions as my daughter is 5 years and fond of playing it. Thanks once again.
I had bought it when it was launched but forgot to download the learning app from Yamaha. She was too small then
Jeremy did make several tutorials on the PSR-E373...you can take a look, but this one covers basic functions:

Thank you Jeremy. Looks like it's the E373 for me.
Thank you for nice comparison. Last week got 473 model. Now have no more free time
Enjoy it
very nice review, you have skills to explain. Very Informative
Nice job of comparing, keeping it to the facts and providing actual useable info instead of just opinion.
I have a question, is there a product on price range of 100-200 USD but have touch sensitive feature, and also not too big, i mean i like the size of E273 but the lack of touch sensitive makes me think twice.
Well done. It helped me very much to make my decision purchasing my keyboard.
That being said, I'm still not sure which one to buy! lol
My exact problem I’m having rn. I know nothing ab pianos but I’m buying one for a Christmas gift 😂.. should I save my money or is it worth it ?
Hi Jeremy,
I love your content and really appreciate the way you explore the nuances of different keyboards!
Thank you very much for helping us make a better decision to buy
Great insight! Soon, the CT-S500 & CT-S1000V is sitting in my studio. 🤭
Aloha, Shelly0624,
I am Jeremy's friend from Honolulu, HI, a long time keyboard and music gear addict.
I got my PSR-E473 today 🙂 awesome instrument.
Thankyou for the in-depth review.
Thank you so much for the info and it’s very well explained to understand . I hope you make more video’s on the same Yamaha E373 and the upper grade one.
Thank you for making this video 🙏😊
What's funny is the more I play, the less I care about all these extra features. When I started out I want a lot of features but then I realized I really wasted my money cuz all I ever needed was to turn it on and play and let my skills do the talking. You really need a few, very few features and creativity.
I agree with this whole statement. I only decided to get the 473 because i need to work on my skills. Still a beginner and i play by ear.
I agree. Just..turn it on and... play!
The headphones turn off at random times. Rebooting doesn’t solve the problem. You’ve got to wait a random time to get the headphone output back. The other thing is that voices saved to the bank are saved only partially. When the machine is rebooted some of the saved parameters revert to the (bad) defaults.
That's what warranty is for.
@@JeremySee I bought it at the big Yodobashi department store in Osaka, fifty miles from the Yamaha factory. When I returned it under warranty there was a Yamaha representative there. He warned me that as new keyboard might not fix the problem. And it didn't.
@@JeremySee I returned it with the oversight of a Yamaha representative. He warned me that the new 473 might have the same problem. It did.
Six month old video. One day I am sure I will eventually catch up? Great work as are all your videos. Thankyou.
good demo! no time wasted! excellent.
That's a brilliant video Jeremy. Thank you so much. I am a harmonium player and starting with Keyboard now. Thinking of the Indian tunes, I am confused between i400, e373 and e473. Can you pls help?
Go for e473
great Video man. thanks
Thank you very much. Your video is so informative and expert for a beginner like me.
Excellent review... Thanks a lot!!
Great reviews, thank you!
Excellent!!! Thanks for all details!!
Thank you Jeremy - good teacher . I was wondering where and how can I get music styles into a psre473 that I wanted and not there ?
When ordering a padded carrying case for the Yamaha PSR-E473 what size is needed?
does that learning feature worth to pay attention at? seems 473 is better than 373 in all aspects and would be great choice for the beginner with the perspective of using it in mid level
