Have it about 2 Months, great Keyboard for the Price , 820 Voices, 290 Styles, Loudness Boost, Mikrophon, Samples easy, Transpose, Harmony Apregio, Groove Creator, Polyphonie 64, Pitch Bend, i love it 😍😍
It would be perfect keyboard if it could hold the sound of split voice without keys keep pressed (violin, strings e.t.c) and also button to fast switch between styles variation without fill-in. My 30 years old Roland E16 can.
For the price - I think everyone should own one. If you know nothing about music - you'll "get into it" Great learning tool. if you play a piano, great for practice and general fun. If you have a home studio -and other keyboards, you'll still want one. I play guitar , now I want to learn piano too .
I've had a PSR-E363 for several years now and have been wanting to upgrade as I feel I've reached the limit of it, but I don't want to spend a lot of money doing that. The E473 is JUST what I need. It has several more features then the E363, and is very reasonably priced. Thank you so much for the review.
This really does sound like a mini home/portable studio that anyone could have more than anything right now. All in one music creator machine right here. Super highly recommend it for any novice that wants to learn music and just play music for fun.
Got one for my daughter last week. Outstanding value for the money. Best in the category (in my opinion, EK50 stands second to this). Latest market release.
I love mine, It has such a beautiful sound compared to other makes and even older versions. I had Yamaha for years and when I saw this one I fell in love with it. I also bought a keyboard for £44 in a sale just to fiddle about. The sound isn`t nearly as good as PSR-E473 obviously. But I take the PSR-E473 a lot more seriously.
Got my keyboard a few weeks ago. Just 3 issues with it. I can export my compositions (Export SMF files) which then appear on my memory stick as MID files, but there is no way that you can load the MID files back in. Also, the headphone jack would have been better positioned on the front of the keyboard down from the pitch wheel for example and not at the back. Same goes for the USB port. Being portable, it can run on 6 AA batteries or rechargeable batteries which the keyboard can charge up when mains powered, it defaults to alkaline in the menu. Out of 10, I'd give this 8.5 for its features and superb sound.
I love the way you play the keyboard meaning your not trying to do what I know you can do but you just play with it like I would play with it. It shows the potential this machine can do even for a beginner. It shows how you can be creative. All so you guys explain your products in laymen's terms. You sold me. This is the best deal I've come across for the price. I had a Yamaha 540 and it was great for 700$ in the 80s. This machine's quality is as good as my Yamaha but much lower in price. I'm ordering mine payday! Thanks guys
Thanks for this review... i've just got one, here down south of Brazil. I'm a newbie in keys, but looking forward to begin improving my compositions, and making my own arrangements!
I agree these are insane value for the money. However i think that Yamaha could have taken this to the next level. A portamento button, 128 registration slots, ability to play samples chromatically on the keyboard, a button to turn on DSP1, 8x2 pads that can trigger samples, phrases or drums and a simple sequencer. They could put all these in and charge 100 dollars extra and people will gladly purchase it
And also truly improve the other very aging sounds. New electric guitars, strings, woodwinds, organ, synths or all the voices from Tyros 2 and 3. If the next PSRE will have this, many people would buy it.
Adding a microphone is pretty awesome for laying down a quick track. Since the voice an instrument are usually a mode for creativity. I'm hoping of going for the mx61.
Hi, I bought the PSR473. I love the Hawaii music. The keyboard also has a very good style (214), but unfortunately no voice for a Hawaii guitar. This is a pity. Do you know a way to generate a Hawaiisound?
People keep bashing this keyboard to some other reviews But they forget one thing If you wanna more of your keyboard then you need to pay more On the other hand this is the best by far value for money keyboard any one can get for only 300 dollars It has some great pro features Great sq Great speakers Great styles to play along and even compose music Great presets specially the strings sound Great piano sq If you are a begginer this keyboard is a must I remember back in 1990 we had music lessons in my school I was going to it was a private school and we had to get a keyboard which that time costed 500 dollars in todays rate And I still have it and it had the half of features. This keyboard have and most of all the piano sucked So go and get it unless you are a Casio fan only 😊 Now as I said if you want more pro sound ,and capabilities then Yamaha Genos is for you But not ev can spent 2000 dollars for a keyboard or 1500 the least Period 😊
People keep bashing this keyboard because its almost just as terrible as any other PSREs. The improvements were almost zero. Were in the modern times yet they still recycles the same shitty 90s voices. The electric guitars and other voices are annoying and so terrible! The other measly new "Super Articulation Lite" voices were muffled and low resolution. Cheap doesn't mean it has to be terrible and trashy. It should come with better sound quality. They should make it decent. Memory is cheap.
The headphones turn off at random times. Rebooting doesn’t solve the problem. You’ve got to wait a random time to get the headphone output back. And the pitch wheel sucks utterly. I do however love the way it sounds.
I've owned old PSRs before like the 300 decades ago. I sadly must say that watching the functions on this supposedly modern PSR keyboard, it still has the same old accompaniments and the same old drum sounds. This comes from Japan. In Asia they seem to be stuck in a time warp of the 1970s cheesy wedding karaoke music. Today especially younger people want a modern piano at a good price point. But, Yamaha just releases the old stuff and gives it a new name as if we won't realize they are doing that. I would only buy this piano for the following reason. It's onboard deep FM sound processor is worth the price. Just record your music outside of this piano. Then, with an audio interface play the recorded music from like a DAW into this piano to make a new recording by using a quarter inch jack to quarter inch jack cable. Now load the new 2nd recording to the flash drive provided with this PSR and transfer the file from the flash into your computer. That way you take advantage of this PSR's ability to make your music sound thicker and more professional. But careful jacking up the PSR reverb because it will muddy your recordings bass sound. Or just do what the TH-cam channel ExclusiveLM does. He records incredible instrumentals that sound professional just using plug-ins in his computer. In that case any piano with midi would sound great if you know how to mix music editing and not have a piano do that for you.
Hello guys! I am looking for a Yamaha keyboard that I can play piano on left hand and split to having strings on the right hand side. Also would love choir voicing on too. Thanks for the Demo on the E-473. Nice playing also!
I like to create my own songs and I would love to see demonstrations of how to use different drum beats, rock beats, swing, Motown , funk, 3/4. Intros fills endings. Thank you.
great video. can the 4 pads be used for "finger drumming" in a DAW, when connected to a PC as midi controller? It is true that the usb cable allows to record audio signal as well and not only the midi signaL? Thanks Luca
I'm looking for a keyboard. I think this keyboard would be perfect for me. And, the music store in my city has a few of them. $500 Canadian. I want a Keyboard for the long winter that's coming :)
Did I make a mistake ordering this? I keep hearing reference that are sort of “Great for kids.” I ordered one of these for a practice keyboard so I don’t have to lug one of my high end performing keyboards out of my van and lug it upstairs to my music room. I play out professionally every week so it gets tiring unpacking/packing and lugging a keyboard up and down the steps. I want something at the ready I can play all the time. But all these references to 8 and 12 year old kids…I am starting to think I made a mistake and since the board is not in stock am wondering if I should cancel the order.
Here's an important question : Was this demo demonstrating the on-board speakers or were you running the signal out to external speakers ? Sounds too good to be on-board and I noticed the wires in the back of unit
I have placed order for one, but now I am seeing many E473 users reporting LCD display fading problem. Jeremy See has a video on his TH-cam channel regarding this problem with E473. Amazon reviews also had few people reporting this issue. I am not sure whether I made the right purchase or not.
Yes, I own one and the fading display started to annoy me , I'm in touch with the the company I purchased the keyboard and waiting to hear if they have a solution for me.
Ok I've had a PSR S910 and that has been an awesome keyboard in terms of sound , articulation, expression, inputs outputs mic, vocoder, and so much more. Unfortunately, the keys on the rythm section no longer make good contact and one key tends to scream a bit when you press it too hard or too fast. I am looking to upgrade. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you hit some keys, like when you play something, but with the Yamaha switched off? With a microphone on you or on (or over) keyboard. I want to hear if the keys make the known from the past annoying mechanical clunk clunk noise like PSR-E363. You can find the video about it in TH-cam searching the title: YAMAHA PSR-E 363 Digital Keyboard keys mechanical noise. There you will hear what I mean.
Hello ..... thank you for your great effort with this tutorial, I've just got this keyboard, but I'm unable to find out how to normalize the left side with the right side (one voice) to play chords with accompaniments on both sides as I have in my PSR s500, for example, I would play the chords on the right side and it would normally sound with the accompaniments with the rhythms , and I can't get this to work on e473, I don't like the smart chord and it seems there is only 2 options of "multi" and "smart chord", is there a way to turn them both off? .... thanks a lot

I've seen this Keyboard at Guitar Center. The way it sounds. It reminds me of the Classic Yamaha DX7
I've had one of these for 6 years. Don't know how new it is. Great machine tho. The accompaniment is it's best feature. Very responsive,,very tight.

Just to note: Yes, this keyboard comes with a power supply. 👍
That was another question I had.
Excellent comment I remember buying power supplies separately back in the day. Glad its included
Cool 😎
It depends from where or which country you buy it, I bought it from India and it did not have a charger
Got my keyboard a few weeks ago. Just 3 issues with it. This keyboard is so damn popular and in short supply that I have one on backorder now for over a month. Hopefully in November I can post a review.
I love the piano, quality much higher.

Super exciting keyboard. Looking forward to getting one soon.
Where do the drum backing parts come from
is there a selection of them to choose from built in

awesome video ! And awesome playing!
I personally plan on learning on simply piano an then eventually creating some music that I can sing too.

You can use it together with the groove creator.
