You are SO right about the upscale classy look of Machine Grey, my wife's Mazda 6 in Machine Grey with matching alloy wheels looks amazing. I don't think you mention that unique aspect of Machine Grey, the fact that it matches the wheels (whether or not Mazda intended that). I'm soon going to be purchasing a CX-30 and like you I'm torn between Machine Grey and Soul Red, which looks even more beautiful in person, as you say the best red on any car at any price.
I got a Machine Gray Metallic for my CX30 and love it. It's just pure class and sexy. I was deciding between this and deep crystal blue but I just think that Gray will be better after a few years. My 3rd choice is Red.
My wife's Mazda 6 in Machine Grey with matching alloy wheels looks so upscale and classy. The matching-wheel thing puts that colour in a unique category.
you're right about black cars, beautiful but only when very clean. wife had a beautiful silver subaru and it always looked clean. we now have a metallic gray and its even better looks clean when dirty. but the red does pop. does the red resist fading from sun?
You got it right! So glad we went for the Soul Crystal Red with white leather interior for my CX5. Collected it 2 days ago and the contrast between red exterior and white interior screams class and premium! Been getting lots of attention from other drivers and pedestrians as well.
I own two Mazda’s. A Mazda3 HB AWD Turbo and a Miata with Recaro seats and BBS wheels. Both cars are in the classy Machine Grey. I was on the fence with the Soul Red. But ultimately I think the Machine Grey will age nicely.
I agree, the deep blue does looks stunning - right after a wash! It’s my favorite color, but I couldn’t enjoy it if it wasn’t really clean and shiny. Living in Oklahoma Dustbowl… just wouldn’t work for me, hand washing my car every few days. It’s like black - incredible when really clean. I’m tired of so many gray cars everywhere, finding a white car forgotten where in a crowded parking lot - oh no… The soul red is a beauty but I’m too shy to drive a car always screaming “Look at meeee!” It was a tough choice, but the practical side of me won out. So I tagged an incoming Eternal blue CX-5. It’s a nice depth and mica-gleam of blue and will shine pretty under some good paint prep and hybrid ceramic-graphene coating and wax TLC. I *love* the deep blue crystal when clean. I *like a lot* the eternal blue. In the end, EB and I will live better together and can enjoy life more easily when we aren’t our most perfect looking selves - a more relaxed relationship! 😉

Eternal Blue Mica got my attention, because it's not possible to find it in my country, Spain. In any case, I love the way Mazda works on their colours, they make it really special....and I totally agree with your top 3. Great content, thanks for sharing!
I recently got my 2021.5 CX5 GT in Deep Crystal Blue, and I love it.. although I was looking for my fav. Machine Gray Metallic.. but no dealership in Ont. (CA) had that color available at the time.. my top fav - #3 Soul Red Crystal, #2 Deep Crystal Blue. and #1 Machine Gray Metallic. 👌
Currently have the 2019 cx5 in deep crystal blue traded it in for machine grey cx9 gt. After waiting over 4 months with no machine grey coming anytime soon. I am picking up deep crystal blue cx9. I still love the blue but really wanted a change to machine grey
Top 2 is just same as mine. I actually had hard time to decide between these 2 colors for my Mazda 3 hatch. I went for soul red and love it, but machine gray is a sick color for Mazda 3 hatch!
All car manufacturers need to offer more variety in colors. Two blues and a red is more than most but I sure wish we could get all the options of the 50s to the 70s.
I choose deep crystal blue on my CX-30 as well. It does the best job of toning down the excessive cladding. No matter the color, applying a quality ceramic coating will do wonders for the vehicle. There is some learning involved to do it correctly but the results will pay dividends for years to come.
I've always had either gold or silver Mazdas, going all the way back to my first GLC (gold). Now driving a silver CX-5 and love it. Doesn't show too much dirt etc. I currently have a black interior, which I don't love - little kid dirty hands show too much and will require frequent detailing. Fortunately, I don't live in cold climate so the dark interior won't be a problem temperature-wise. However, I used to live in Phoenix and had dark interior with very little temperature impact.
I chose a 2018 cx5 in silver too. I think its look is holding up well over the years. And looks bigger than the dark cx5 s and certainly does hide the dirt! White would have been my second choice. Silver also unifies the entire look of the car. On some level, weird I know, it reminded me of vintage jet fight planes.
I got the Snowflake White Pearl Mazda CX-5 on may 21st- I wanted machine gray metallic but the local dealer only had it in a Sport and I decided I didn’t want to wait. This white I have does seem to conceal dust and pollen. I’m not a fan of blues either. Black is gorgeous like you said but you look at it wrong and it scratches. I agree with your rankings.
Same here, I have snowlake white mazda 3 sedan: my first choice, polymetal gray Isn't available for sedans in my country, and i just couldnt wait for couple of months for machine gray. It turns out for the best, no better choice for long, hot and dry summers

But if I wanted this new Mazda it was all they had with all the equipment I wanted and a discount. And it was just pulled off the truck. So I sucked it up and got white, they even discounted the charge for the color because it was about $400 extra. So I agreed and it’s been great! Everyone says it looks sporty and it does stay cooler! It always looks clean too. I love the Mazda 3 in the snowflake white Pearl also! I had a Mazda 3 to trade in, a 2016, but it was titanium flash mica. I didn’t like that color when I first bought the car but it quickly grew on me, too!
The Snowflake ❄️ White Pearl is a beautiful colour. However, there are so many white cars on the streets these days I would choose any other colour just to be able to find mine in a parking lot! My heart is set on Soul Red Crystal.❤️

Interesting you prefer polymetal over eternal blue. Not me, eternal blue is beautiful, but I do also like the dark grey. I will be looking at some new CX5 tomorrow in the top spec. One is eternal blue and one is the dark grey. Either would be nice.
I'm obsessed with my soul red Mazda 6 Grand Touring. The white napa leather is dead sexy and the driving experience is amazing. My favorite car out of all I've ever had.
Yes that look still holds up better than most cars and most Mazdas. We have the 6 in silver. Like that too. And launch edition soul red 2016 Miata with warm light tan leather seats.

I love the 2 blues and the Soul Red is still eye catching. As for the whites, greys and black-it seems to me that these are the only colors that cars have come in-so many of those colors on the road across all makea and models. I have been seeing more red cars . I wish that Mazda would offer a deep green metallic color. That would absolutely be stunning on the CX-5 ,CX-9 & 30. My top 5 choices are Eternal Blue Mica, Deep Crystal Blue,Soul Red, Machine Grey with Sonic Silver or Jet Black Mica as my number 5. I tend towards the blues because for 11 years I drove a base model 4 speed Conneticut Blue 1989 323 Hatchback. Other than AC it had no other options . It was a very reliable car that I drove for 11years and when I traded it in it still had the original clutch.! That was my first & only manual. I forgot how many miles I drove-I think that it was around 130,000 plus miles.
The soul red is great. And I prefer the original soul red as on my launch edition 2016 Miata. With the tan interior- wow. The newer soul red is a little less orange and not as vibrant. In general Mazda colors of the last decade lack the very quality their design inspires! They are mostly safe, underwhelming almost Awful colors. I bought a top level 2017 ? cx3 in ceramic for the color and dual colored seats. It had no room though and I traded it in for a 2018 silver cx5 (great car) because the color was at least ok. I’ve since used photoshop to try and render my cx5 a nicer shade of anything. I do like that silver looks great even when dirty and it also seems to look larger and longer than all of the dark cx5s. Mazda Honda has you beat on past colors, Lincoln too. Traffic is just mostly silver white gray black oooh there’s a new shade of gray. Yes I’m guilty with silver adding to graying of American roads. Broncos are fun to notice at least. Jeeps too in an Italian sort of fiat way. The Fiata should have come in Fiat colors at least.
Is there a thiknes diffrent between deep cristal blue and machine gray? One guy told me that machine gray has 4 layers and blue has 2. Also for the gray its is little bit costly. Which colour will hold better over yhe years ?
my CX-5 is Eternal Blue Mica as well. Too many White and too many greys on the road. Very few Eternal Blue Micas in my area. It looks much better in real life than on video or in pictures.
Lol - that’s what I chose too! We’ll be able to find our cars in parking lots! Jason is correct too; EB Mica is much prettier and deeper in person, and has its own unique character to the blue and the mica element.
Polymetal Grey on my CX-5. I would say Soul Red is the best colour, but my OCDness will drive me crazy if I had to keep maintaining and keeping that colour clean.
I have a 2014 CX-5 in soul red metallic. Love the color. I like the machine grey, but I know it will be hard to keep clean, so will get soul red again if my next car is another CX-5. If the CX-5 is discontinued in favor of cars made in the US before I am ready to buy my next car, my next car will likely not be a Mazda, though.
First, thank you SO much for doing this video! The Mazda "build yours" web pages are sad in that the "stage" is DARK & dreary! The only colors that pop are soul red and white. I could not tell what the Deep Crystal Blue Mica or Machine Gray actually look like until this video! I love reds, especially "candy apple-types like my wife's candy Lincoln MKX, but I've seen many Mazdas with Soul Red & although it looks fabulous on smaller vehicles, it almost has a flourescent chrome look (like a Hot Wheels car) and I can't imagine it on a CX-90, which I'm interested in. I had a Lexus in Black Cherry (Artisan Red) and although under halogen lighting a beautiful color, a maintenance nightmare like black. I have a Murano in Graphite Metallic, so I was interested in seeing Machine Grey, a pewter-type color that could be nice on a CX-90. Maybe you could suggest strongly to the Mazda marketing team to brighten up the lighting in their photography 😁 Thanks again! 👍🏻
We own two Mazda's . A 2017 Mazda 6 GT in Deep Chrystal blue with white Napa leather and a 2020 Soul Red Chrstal CX 5 GT with white leather interior. Love them both.
I couldn’t agree more with your top 2. It was between these 2 for me and I chose Soul Red Crystal for my CX-5 and NO regrets! I’d actually put the lighter blue at number 3 though. Fun video!
This is a great presentation. We have two CX-5s in the household. We bought a new one 2016 Soul Red with white interior. Our 2019 Eternal Blue is beautiful. We belong to a car wash company where we get the cars washed at least once a week.

After doing a lot of research, I thought for sure I’d like the Deep Crystal Blue more than the Eternal Blue. I might be in the minority, and maybe I’ll change my mind in 6 months, but I like the Eternal Blue way more once seeing them in person. Unless in super bright sunlight like this video, the Deep Crystal is super dark (almost black) and the Eternal Blue is still a nice, deep blue- not too bright at all. Love it, got super lucky! (Red was an option too, but I will always be baffled why people like them so much- they all scream obnoxious attention-seeker imo, and I’m an extrovert. No offense ;) )
Red makes it so people see you more easily. In silver cars sometimes people pulled in front of us because it blends in with the road. No chance of someone missing you in soul red crystal.
I like the lighter colors because Mazda has so much black trim on the spoiler, wheels, bumpers, etc, I think the color combo looks really good. I like all black too but it gets dirty too fast and hides all the curves of the car.. And for white, I've had 3 white cars in the past so I kind of want to change it up. I remember having a white mustang and loving the color, but then you see a shiny one drive by in another color and it makes you wish the white shined like that. The red does look good, but red in general is one of my least favorite colors lol. I wanted any of the greys and chose the only one I could get my hands on lol. The last grey car I had was a flat grey 87 RX-7 about 16 years ago.

I love everything in Carbon Turbo edition except that I want those in soul red paint. My query is, can I just purchase carbon edition & change the color to soul red later on? Does Mazda help me with altering the paint color for me if I pay extra?
Mazda won’t help you with extra paint cost, but you could wrap it for less than painting. I love the idea of Soul Red with black wheels. You could also wait for the 2022 Turbo model that will have Soul Red with black leather seats, and black wheels. Be about the same money as repainting Carbon or wrapping, but with more equipment.
purchased the Mazda 6 2018 soul red got so many compliments from strangers about the car color. I love it also ,traded up to a 2021 cx-30 in soul red love it

I just bought a 2021 CX-30 in Machine Gray. I think it's the most attractive color on the CX-30 because it blends in so well with the plastic over the wheels. The other colors highlight it.
Machine gray was the only other color that I considered for the same reason as you. The black & crystal blue also blend well with the cladding. I went with the blue but I would have been happy with the machine gray. I'm not a fan of black vehicles.
When I went to buy a Mazda 3 in 2018 my first one that got sold as I drove 2 hours to the dealer to see it was Black mica. Well a week later I drove to another dealer 1.5 hours away and picked up a used lease 2016 M3 in Titanium Flash Mica with less miles and a better price. Thanks to other dealer for screwing me because I realize I can go a little longer with dust and dirt on it then with the black. But only if I had black wheels on her.
Trying to decide betw. the cx 30 and 50, turbo. Loving the red but I'm wondering if I'll get sick of it after awhile. i usually go with black. But man, that red is tempting.

It always looks clean too. I love the Mazda 3 in the snowflake white Pearl also! I had a Mazda 3 to trade in, a 2016, but it was titanium flash mica. I didn’t like that color when I first bought the car but it quickly grew on me, too!
I have a Mazda 2 in Polymetal Grey . It never looks dirty, even though I wash and clean every Sunday .

The Snowflake ❄️ White Pearl is a beautiful colour. However, there are so many white cars on the streets these days I would choose any other colour just to be able to find mine in a parking lot! My heart is set on Soul Red Crystal.❤️
Not a lot of white Mazda's though, one reason alone I'd pick it over the top three listed. So many red ones that it turns you off picking it really.
I love the soul red crystal, would agree it’s the nicest color. That said, I didn’t want a red car and also love the crystal blue mica with white interior. The contrast is amazing.
Yesssss I have my Mazda CX30 Machine Grey (first Mazda) and drives like a charm and very comfortable ! My top 3 for the colors : 1) Machine Grey 2) Polymetal Grey and 3) Soul Red ;) Greetings from Belgium, Europe.

Interesting you prefer polymetal over eternal blue. Not me, eternal blue is beautiful, but I do also like the dark grey. I will be looking at some new CX5 tomorrow in the top spec. One is eternal blue and one is the dark grey. Either would be nice.
My affinity for the Polymetal gray is mostly from the Carbon Editions. I will say the Eternal Blue Signature looks really nice with painted cladding.
I'm obsessed with my soul red Mazda 6 Grand Touring. The white napa leather is dead sexy and the driving experience is amazing. My favorite car out of all I've ever had.
Yes that look still holds up better than most cars and most Mazdas. We have the 6 in silver. Like that too. And launch edition soul red 2016 Miata with warm light tan leather seats.

Soul Red & Machine Grey are the best colors (imo)
I love the 2 blues and the Soul Red is still eye catching. As for the whites, greys and black-it seems to me that these are the only colors that cars have come in-so many of those colors on the road across all makea and models. I have been seeing more red cars . I wish that Mazda would offer a deep green metallic color. That would absolutely be stunning on the CX-5 ,CX-9 & 30. My top 5 choices are Eternal Blue Mica, Deep Crystal Blue,Soul Red, Machine Grey with Sonic Silver or Jet Black Mica as my number 5. I tend towards the blues because for 11 years I drove a base model 4 speed Conneticut Blue 1989 323 Hatchback. Other than AC it had no other options . It was a very reliable car that I drove for 11years and when I traded it in it still had the original clutch.! That was my first & only manual. I forgot how many miles I drove-I think that it was around 130,000 plus miles.
The blues are nice. I would like to see a green also.
The soul red is great. And I prefer the original soul red as on my launch edition 2016 Miata. With the tan interior- wow. The newer soul red is a little less orange and not as vibrant. In general Mazda colors of the last decade lack the very quality their design inspires! They are mostly safe, underwhelming almost Awful colors. I bought a top level 2017 ? cx3 in ceramic for the color and dual colored seats. It had no room though and I traded it in for a 2018 silver cx5 (great car) because the color was at least ok. I’ve since used photoshop to try and render my cx5 a nicer shade of anything. I do like that silver looks great even when dirty and it also seems to look larger and longer than all of the dark cx5s. Mazda Honda has you beat on past colors, Lincoln too. Traffic is just mostly silver white gray black oooh there’s a new shade of gray. Yes I’m guilty with silver adding to graying of American roads. Broncos are fun to notice at least. Jeeps too in an Italian sort of fiat way. The Fiata should have come in Fiat colors at least.
Polymetal grey is a boring colour and is just a fad. Soon they wll be calling it the ugly undercoat colour

One guy told me that machine gray has 4 layers and blue has 2. Also for the gray its is little bit costly. Which colour will hold better over yhe years ?

my CX-5 is Eternal Blue Mica as well. Too many White and too many greys on the road. Very few Eternal Blue Micas in my area. It looks much better in real life than on video or in pictures.
Lol - that’s what I chose too! We’ll be able to find our cars in parking lots! Jason is correct too; EB Mica is much prettier and deeper in person, and has its own unique character to the blue and the mica element.

Polymetal Grey on my CX-5. I would say Soul Red is the best colour, but my OCDness will drive me crazy if I had to keep maintaining and keeping that colour clean.
😂 Fortunately my OCD has calmed down a little.

I have a 2014 CX-5 in soul red metallic. Love the color. I like the machine grey, but I know it will be hard to keep clean, so will get soul red again if my next car is another CX-5. If the CX-5 is discontinued in favor of cars made in the US before I am ready to buy my next car, my next car will likely not be a Mazda, though.

First, thank you SO much for doing this video! The Mazda "build yours" web pages are sad in that the "stage" is DARK & dreary! The only colors that pop are soul red and white. I could not tell what the Deep Crystal Blue Mica or Machine Gray actually look like until this video! I love reds, especially "candy apple-types like my wife's candy Lincoln MKX, but I've seen many Mazdas with Soul Red & although it looks fabulous on smaller vehicles, it almost has a flourescent chrome look (like a Hot Wheels car) and I can't imagine it on a CX-90, which I'm interested in. I had a Lexus in Black Cherry (Artisan Red) and although under halogen lighting a beautiful color, a maintenance nightmare like black. I have a Murano in Graphite Metallic, so I was interested in seeing Machine Grey, a pewter-type color that could be nice on a CX-90. Maybe you could suggest strongly to the Mazda marketing team to brighten up the lighting in their photography 😁 Thanks again! 👍🏻
We own two Mazda's . A 2017 Mazda 6 GT in Deep Chrystal blue with white Napa leather and a 2020 Soul Red Chrstal CX 5 GT with white leather interior. Love them both.

This is a great presentation. We have two CX-5s in the household. We bought a new one 2016 Soul Red with white interior. Our 2019 Eternal Blue is beautiful. We belong to a car wash company where we get the cars washed at least once a week.
Mazda is it very reliable. I heard so much bad things about this brand from cheap paint,brakes,engine problems etc
It’s improved reliability every year and only getting better. This year MAZDA was #1 overall brand by Consumer Reports surveys…and still improving!

After doing a lot of research, I thought for sure I’d like the Deep Crystal Blue more than the Eternal Blue.
I might be in the minority, and maybe I’ll change my mind in 6 months, but I like the Eternal Blue way more once seeing them in person. Unless in super bright sunlight like this video, the Deep Crystal is super dark (almost black) and the Eternal Blue is still a nice, deep blue- not too bright at all. Love it, got super lucky!
(Red was an option too, but I will always be baffled why people like them so much- they all scream obnoxious attention-seeker imo, and I’m an extrovert. No offense ;) )
Eternal Blue is my choice. You’re right the dark blue can look almost black.
Red makes it so people see you more easily. In silver cars sometimes people pulled in front of us because it blends in with the road. No chance of someone missing you in soul red crystal.
Deep Crystal blue with the black is a nice combo . But also like that machine grey
I like the lighter colors because Mazda has so much black trim on the spoiler, wheels, bumpers, etc, I think the color combo looks really good. I like all black too but it gets dirty too fast and hides all the curves of the car.. And for white, I've had 3 white cars in the past so I kind of want to change it up. I remember having a white mustang and loving the color, but then you see a shiny one drive by in another color and it makes you wish the white shined like that. The red does look good, but red in general is one of my least favorite colors lol. I wanted any of the greys and chose the only one I could get my hands on lol. The last grey car I had was a flat grey 87 RX-7 about 16 years ago.

I love everything in Carbon Turbo edition except that I want those in soul red paint. My query is, can I just purchase carbon edition & change the color to soul red later on? Does Mazda help me with altering the paint color for me if I pay extra?
Mazda won’t help you with extra paint cost, but you could wrap it for less than painting. I love the idea of Soul Red with black wheels. You could also wait for the 2022 Turbo model that will have Soul Red with black leather seats, and black wheels. Be about the same money as repainting Carbon or wrapping, but with more equipment.
purchased the Mazda 6 2018 soul red got so many compliments from strangers about the car color. I love it also ,traded up to a 2021 cx-30 in soul red love it

The States don’t get Titanium Flash Mica? I’m surprised, it’s a really sharp colour here in Canada.
It was discontinued in 2019 I think. I got a 2018 Mazda 6 in that color.

I just bought a 2021 CX-30 in Machine Gray. I think it's the most attractive color on the CX-30 because it blends in so well with the plastic over the wheels. The other colors highlight it.
Machine gray was the only other color that I considered for the same reason as you. The black & crystal blue also blend well with the cladding. I went with the blue but I would have been happy with the machine gray. I'm not a fan of black vehicles.

My Mazda 3 is in poly metal grey and I love it
When I went to buy a Mazda 3 in 2018 my first one that got sold as I drove 2 hours to the dealer to see it was Black mica. Well a week later I drove to another dealer 1.5 hours away and picked up a used lease 2016 M3 in Titanium Flash Mica with less miles and a better price.
Thanks to other dealer for screwing me because I realize I can go a little longer with dust and dirt on it then with the black.
But only if I had black wheels on her.

I swear black gets dirty by the time you get home from the car wash. My last white car looked clean for 2 or 3 weeks before i wanted to wash it.
