After nearly 8 years with a 2016 Miata Sport which I loved and will always love I decided to go the 4 door mini sedan route(Im older now and I want comfort more than excitement). I looked at all the makes and models and in the end I stayed with Mazda with the 3 Sedan. Over the years Mazda has improved the quality and longevity of its cars and since I always keep up with routine maintenance I am certainly confident that the car will last for some time. The primary reason for the Mazda 3 other than liking the brand is how much more elegant, user friendly and uncluttered to Mazda 3's interior is. It is absolutely beautiful while most of the competition have interiors that are garish, obnoxious, cheesy, and just plain ugly. The massive infotainment screens that stick out like sore thumbs in these cars are absurd. The Mazda's infotainment screen is just large enough at 8.5 inches to meet all of my needs. Its appearance is that of something that is blended into the dash naturally and organically. I dont need or want touch screen features and because the infotainment screen in the Mazda sits high enough and far enough away from my reach I have no fear of something hitting or striking it accidentally something that is much more likely with most of the competition.

But other than that either good maintenance this car runs like new still.
Honda Civic for me better, because have more cargo space, more space in cabin. Better fuel economy and the most important thing for me is the hybrid version of the Civic.

The driving position is excellent, and the keyless entry system is a great convenience. The car feels like a well-balanced racing car, with a quiet engine that still delivers a sporty sound when needed. There are a few downsides-like the gas pedal response in regular mode, which feels a bit delayed. Because of this, I prefer driving in sport mode. While the 1st and 2nd gears are a bit slow and require building RPM, once you get past the 2nd gear, the acceleration is impressive-you can feel the full horsepower. Engine braking in sport mode is also fantastic and adds to the driving experience. The steering wheel design is excellent, offering a premium feel and comfort. The dashboard is another highlight-it’s sleek, modern, and makes all controls and displays easy to see. Dude the Mazda 3 look generic. The civic sport looks sweet. I’m not a fan of cvt but the civic does have a 6 speed manual option but they are rare. Anyway I’m sure they are both good cars. I actually thought the Mazda 3 was way less than the civic. Only $800 less, I’m glad I got the civic
I occasionally watch your videos when they happen to pop up, and just noticed a Paul Miller Mazda decal on the test car. Are you all from Lexington I assume?
This is the best review I have seen between these two cars. Well done. While I am on team Mazda, one thing to also consider is the dealer network. There are, at least in my area, far more Honda dealerships than Mazda. This can be important for potential recalls and for folks who like having their vehicles serviced at a dealership.
I just test drove both today. In my opinion Mazda 3 has sportier handling because it has a much heavier steering and not a CVT transmission.Even the non turbo feels very quick 190 hp and light weight so it packs a punch and really fun to drive. But the Civic feels more practical and comfortable to drive, very light steering wheel and softer suspension absorbs bumps. And much more space in the back seats and the trunk. 450 miles of range so it’s a much more economical choice for a daily.
The Mazda 3 actually has a 6 speaker sound system with speakers only in the front, I just bought a 2024 select sport hatch and that’s my only gripe, the audio system sucks
I have the 2016 Mazda 3 sedan ... Great car , great fuel mileage , and absolutely no problems with this car ...every bit as reliable as the Honda and maybe even more these days
Im looking at buying one of these cars. I feel like if you do your basic air intake, expensive exhaust and a tune on that Mazda 3, it would probably be a pretty quick sadan.
If any of these are total dealbreakers to you, i suggest the civic -fuel economy -rear leg/headroom Otherwise, the 3 wins in every other aspect. Performance, comfort, safety, price.
Bought 2024 Mazda 3 select sport red. Brand new only 16 miles when I got it. I’m in love with it. But I almost bought 2024 civic ex red. 😊. I’m happy with my choice. I go to Walmart like 3 times a day. 😅
I had to pick between the 3 turbo and the Civic Si. I went for the Si because of MPG. It’s a fun ride and was less expensive, but the Mazda interior was really nice!
Great comparison review guys. I just wish Mazda would start being a little more creative and daring with the exterior design of the 3. It has looked the same for too many years.
Honda,s interior designer was definitely drunk.Infotainment screen makes me feel sitting in front of old TV. CVT is another reason to stay away.Being happy owner of the two Civic,s in a past have a right to say-Civic lost the soul. So,month ago became the owner of Mazda3 and no regret.
Love everything about this Mazda 3 gen, would've gotten it by now, but for that grill, which really bugs me. I own (and love) an older 3s, with a similar grill shape, except now it's wider, dipping closer to the bottom edge, throwing the overall look off balance, for my taste. Small thing, it would seem, but I know it'd bug me every time I looked at it... Can't wait for the next gen!
That CVT droan in the Honda is like nails on a blackboard!!! If your a true driving enthusiast, that CVT’s rubber band, slingshot droning sound is a deal breaker FOR ME. I’ve had several CVT/ECVT’s and they are very similar. Also what they don’t tell you is a CVT requires more maintenance and the longevity is traditionally less. NOW for all the Karen keyboard warriors waiting to blow up this post, this is only MY opinion being in the automotive field working in R & D for years, thanks
Enthusiasts aren't driving a base model civic for fuel economy. This is a different demographic. The average person is buying the cvt and won't know the difference between an AT and a cvt. The real car people are going for an si or type R. Or an older honda that's built up.
Went with the Mazda, althought it was a hard choice, I just cant stand the sound of cvts. It's a shame cause the civic does look really good too, inside and out...
Honda still beats the Mazda in depreciation value! Mazda is catching up, but a Honda will hold a lot more value after 3-5 years and in the longterm than a Mazda! Civic also has better fuel economy and way better infotainment! The Civic also has an independent multi-link rear suspension. Whereas the Mazda makes due with a torsion beam suspension.
I think that’s a point FOR the Mazda, if you buy used and plan on keeping the car for as long as it lives (like me). I think a big reason the value depreciates slower on the Honda is just because it’s a Honda. Otherwise, I believe reliability is similar.
Mazda has more standard features but I’d choose the Civic simply because of the touchscreen. I don’t want to toggle with Mazda’s knobs for the screen and that awkward angle of the screen pushed back as if sinking into the dashboard would drive me nuts looking at it being OCD. I like symmetry like on its exterior with the two exhaust pipes. 😂

@@natas12rm I prefer the Mazda3 (sedan) myself. it has a more adult/refined look to it IMO.
@@natas12rm Same! I was between these 2 cars and the Mazda is just too basic looking for me with no color options. I love my Civic sport.
Touch screen is actually a negative point from me. Mazda 3 sedan is the best compact car on the market. Gorgeous.
The Mazda 3 look so much better inside and out but the Honda is more practical.
I occasionally watch your videos when they happen to pop up, and just noticed a Paul Miller Mazda decal on the test car.
Are you all from Lexington I assume?
Yep, we live in Lexington
This is the best review I have seen between these two cars. Well done.
While I am on team Mazda, one thing to also consider is the dealer network. There are, at least in my area, far more Honda dealerships than Mazda. This can be important for potential recalls and for folks who like having their vehicles serviced at a dealership.
Thank you!
I don't know. I like the Mazda 3 specs but also like the look of the Civic. I need to test drive both.
Please do and let us know
I just test drove both today.
Here in Philippines, base model Mazda 3 2024 have 12 Bose speakers.
Excellent comparison!😸😊
Which has the sexier engine drone, the Corolla or the Civic?
Get out
If any of these are total dealbreakers to you, i suggest the civic
-fuel economy
-rear leg/headroom
Otherwise, the 3 wins in every other aspect. Performance, comfort, safety, price.
Definitely would choose Mazda 3 with 2.5l engine. Most importantly it has 6-speed transmission with Real Gears.
Today my first day with my new 2024 Mazda 3 sedan carbon edition, the red leather seats
I have to choose The Mazda 3 , I had two, and I am getting my third mazda 3 2024 or 2025.
Mazda 3 is love at 1st sight in the form of automobile
Mazda 3 sedan for me, manual, 2.0l (we have that in Europe)
Bought 2024 Mazda 3 select sport red. Brand new only 16 miles when I got it. I’m in love with it. But I almost bought 2024 civic ex red. 😊. I’m happy with my choice. I go to Walmart like 3 times a day. 😅
I had to pick between the 3 turbo and the Civic Si. I went for the Si because of MPG. It’s a fun ride and was less expensive, but the Mazda interior was really nice!
I would pick the Mazda 3
Honda for me
Way better than that outdated Mazda 3 needs a redesign been out since 2019 and getting long in the tooth.........
Mazda all day. I drive Axela 2.5 hatchback 2011 model and i loveee it ✌️
Great comparison
Mazda all day.
Great comparison review guys. I just wish Mazda would start being a little more creative and daring with the exterior design of the 3. It has looked the same for too many years.
Totally agree with you Mazda needs to update this current generation especially the infotainment system.........
where do you find a mazda 3 select sport for 24k? they start at 25k
Is there any update from mazda 3 hybrid model? next year? seems like it's available in the market but not just for NA
Which one has a spare tire?
To me the Mazda 3 by far is the better car in every aspect.
You must be a Mazda loyalist, how can the 3 with no touchscreen compete with a Civic with a fully functional touchscreen infotainment.........
Because a touchscreen is everything on a car😂 @@crow_2k11beatsbydre8
It's better, I've gotten many compliments since I got my 3. Mazda did a good job with the 4th gen 3
@@Unsalted375 If you own the Mazda 3 hatch with that poor blind spot, you better have good life insurance..........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8I have the 4th gen hatch and the rear visibility is fine as long as you set the mirrors correctly and use your brain
mazda sounds more crisp, and clear. honda sounds muddy to me. +1pt for Mazda.
Which is more dependable?
Mazda main attraction for me was a proper automatic transmission rathe then the elastic band!!!
Love your video
Mazda 3. Much better quality and quiter inside the cabin.
How long do these 3's last? 300k?
Honda,s interior designer was definitely drunk.Infotainment screen makes me feel sitting in front of old TV.
CVT is another reason to stay away.Being happy owner of the two Civic,s in a past have a right to say-Civic lost the soul. So,month ago became the owner of Mazda3 and no regret.
I bought the 2024 Mazda 3 sedan. 3 to 4k cheaper than the Civic in Canada
The dealerships upsell Hondas about $4,000 over here too in the US
I like the civic but the CVT transmission is a deal breaker for me.
Just get the SI!
Lumbar support?
Mazda is underrated gem 💎
HONDA CIVIC all the way!
Mazda 3 Manual for me... if automatic would be Mazda 3 - 6 speed auto vs the Civic CVT
Can't wait for the next gen!
im loving my 24 Mazda 3 Hatch!
@@whereswaldo9089 That didn’t take long…… 😂
@@lawdog516 what are you talking about?
@@whereswaldo9089You ARE the Karren keyboard warrior he were referring to! 😂😂😂
@@jraheemjefcoat429 how if I was agreeing with him?
How is the honda only 25k? In Germany it costs 41k euros..
Went with the Mazda, althought it was a hard choice, I just cant stand the sound of cvts. It's a shame cause the civic does look really good too, inside and out...
Way better resale/trade in values on the Civic and the CVT is solid as long as you do proper maintenance.......
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8что то много тебя сегодня,переклинило?
Honda still beats the Mazda in depreciation value! Mazda is catching up, but a Honda will hold a lot more value after 3-5 years and in the longterm than a Mazda! Civic also has better fuel economy and way better infotainment! The Civic also has an independent multi-link rear suspension. Whereas the Mazda makes due with a torsion beam suspension.
I think that’s a point FOR the Mazda, if you buy used and plan on keeping the car for as long as it lives (like me). I think a big reason the value depreciates slower on the Honda is just because it’s a Honda. Otherwise, I believe reliability is similar.
dude, stop with the drugs....... Mazda is way better for performance, reliability , value , fun driving..... LOL
Love my maz 3 turbo HB
How come i only see so few of these mazda 3 on the street if its this popular in the comment section. But tbh mazda 3 in soul red is a head turner
I ultimately want a manual GTI but dammit they’re hard to come by, looking like a civic in my future…
Try the Civic SI, I love mine. Also, ktuner ❤️
Mazda 3 sedan, con caja manual y suspensión independiente. Lástima que ahora no los hagan así.
I will go with Mazda anytime !
Just the looks itself, it's Mazda 3 for me.
Mazda 3….better engine/transmission! My hatchback is made in Japan!
Vote for Toyota Grand Highlander Vs Hyundai Palisade❤
Palisade is cheaper
Word is that Honda Complimentary maintenance will be reduced to 12 months / 12 thousand miles in 2025.
Mazda 3 for me.
Britland calling 😢 these US list prices make me weep with envy
Honda Civic sport list price in UK the equivalent of $48000 😭😭😭
