    Thanks for the video. I play mostly at 1080p with my 3060 ti and I've got a 5800x on the way to replace the 3600 that's served me well. I have a better idea of what to look forward to with my 3060 ti with it now. I'm excited for the better frame rates and an overall better match for the gpu.
    Edit 12 days later: After replacing the 3600 with the 5800x and using it for a few days with a great cpu cooler (NH-D15s), I can say that if you have a great graphics card like the 3060 ti you should definitely upgrade if you can. The 3600 wasn't bad by any means, but the 5800x gives you the full capability of your pc.

      Yes my goal was to get 60fps in Cyberpunk which was not possible with the 3600 but the 5800x is getting there

      Nice to hear that. I bought RTX 3080 at premiere for MSRP and it's still with my 3600x so I will upgrade soon but for this new upcoming 5800X3D or to 5800x based on how 5800X3D will be compared to X

The video you linked to shows that the 3600 is as good as a higher core count cpu which is true, but it was before the release of zen 3 and zen 3 is the point of what I'm talking about. I've a 3600XT paired with 3060 ti. I'm having severe issues while turning on RT effects as 3600XT is a bottleneck to my 3060 ti. Did the 5800x help with the bottleneck issue while turning on RT effects? I plan to go for 5800x3d .

    crazy to me how much the CPU can bottleneck. I've recently upgraded from a 1060 3G to a 1080, and it turns out my 1500x bottlenecked both! At 1440p! Another upgrade to the 3600 has improved things. I really don't know how a 5600X would handle something like a 3080/3090 anymore

    • @panoramacircle3281
      @panoramacircle3281  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes CPU bottleneck is very real at 1080P gaming. Consoles have fast 8-core chips so that will be the future for the next ten years.

      @ALmaN11223344 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@panoramacircle3281 Actually no, apparently the PS5 has a max CPU frequency of 3.5GHz which puts it behind even the R5 3600 in games that don't use all 8 cores.

    • @ALmaN11223344
      @ALmaN11223344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Firewynn Games don't magically change when they're running on consoles to have better multicore programming. Regardless of whether the console or its OS is optimized to throw tasks at all cores there are inevitably things in games that will not be capable of being split across multiple cores/threads. Also, at any rate, silicon has already surpassed what the PS5 and XSX have inside as far as IPC, this compounds with higher clock rates to offer the absolute best performance in the vast majority of games regardless of multicore optimization.

    • @ALmaN11223344
      @ALmaN11223344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Firewynn You're not really being reasonable, logical, or sensible in your assertions. For a moment, let's assume that developers have some magical capability to make games perfectly distribute load across 8 cores (like the consoles have), if they had such an ability why would they not then have their PC releases do the same thing? The answer is, they would, but they can't develop like that and nothing Microsoft or Sony do changes the fact that many processes in a video game still cannot parallelize. Games that fully use 8 cores are non-existent, even on consoles, and games that leverage as many as 8 cores somewhat well are few and far inbetween.
      I couldn't really be bothered to read your whole word vomit, you should consolidate your thoughts and stay a bit more on topic next time.

    • @ALmaN11223344
      @ALmaN11223344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Firewynn
      Talking about some book you recommend...sure, on topic and oozing with brevity.
      Applications need to be optimized to utilize multiple cores otherwise you won't receive a benefit. What you're trying to explain is a scheduler and it doesn't make a single threaded game like Minecraft run any better to have a better scheduler. The lowest level cache (and by extension, the fastest access to common instructions) is accessible only by the core it is attached to, only in some cases will L2 be shared and in others L3 will...when a CPU is executing instructions stored within the L1 cache a scheduler can do fuck all to maneuver the workload around to other cores unless they have the same things stored in their lowest level cache.
      Moreover, there are thousands of things going on in modern AAA titles, some of these things require sync and will not split across multiple threads no matter what the scheduler wants. To this end, regardless of what any subjective reviewer says a series X or PS5 is comparable to with a clock rate of 3.5GHz and an architecture akin to 3rd gen Ryzen, it WILL perform significantly worse than a CPU with more IPC and higher clock speed.
      And to tie it all back in to my original comment, because I stay on topic, the R5 3600 boosts well higher than 3.5GHz typically by a factor of near .7GHz...across 6 threads this difference will amplify to a total difference of 4.2 which would make up a 7th core in execution across less cores. All this to say, the only way a game (which typically doesn't pin more than a handful of cores) would perform better on a console than an R5 3600 is if it was well optimized enough to pin 8 cores. Conversely, the opposite is usually more likely to be true, higher clocks and IPC are far more beneficial to a game on ANY platform compared to a couple extra cores after you've got more than 4 cores in the first place.
