Just recently swapped from an OC 2600 to the 5600x.. night and day difference. Always thought the 2600 + my 2060 is a pretty balanced combination, but the extra performance that the 5600x got out of the 2060 was kinda crazy. No regrets.

@ThePalePatriot We can say for certain that it would make your PC much more capable of handling games. But it depends on the game how noticeable the difference would be. I would recommend it. 👍
I was thinking of upgrading, but I can't see much difference in anything from my 7700k, I just need 60fps at high or medium and I still get that..... I was looking at Intel but gaming seems to not get much more out of an upgrade, plus I only buy games on sale so don't need the head room coz they are patched by the time I get them.... Sad coz I wanted an upgrade but there is no point, the power consumption.... Just to much now also.
I personally upgraded my current 3600 with a 5900x because i play a lot but need a strong cpu for heavy working load liké 3D rendering and some adobe softs liké photoshop, After effect etc... Im playing on a 3440x1440 display and its combinéd with a 6900xt and upgraded my 32gb 3000 cl15 to 64gb 3600 cl14. I think i have thé build i need now. Thé 3600 was really nice for thé last three years and my needs but now its a hugé différence. Gaming AND working.

I did run Prime95 for an hour and it reached 90C numerous times, which is perfectly fine with me because Prime95 is a torture test and doesn't reflect what normal CPU loads will be, even heavy CPU loads. The purpose of Prime95 is to create a worst case scenario. I didn't pay attention to frequencies during that time, so I can't say how far down it throttled. I'm not too worried about it. I'm also using the Wraith Prism cooler that came with my 2700X, so my temps are in line with AMD specifies here: i.imgur.com/vgRsY4p.jpg Generally speaking I tend to trust the specifications given by the manufacturer. If AMD says a CPU can sustain 90C for long periods of time, and as long as I have a cooler with some thermal paste on my CPU, I just roll with it

This is why 2700x/rx6600 and 3700x/rx5700xt upgrading to another cpu/gpu requires a lot of money and very little improvement, but this comparison has a lot of workarounds and very few people are going to fall for this kind of upgrade. Fact though, the more applications you run at gaming the more demands to cpu for sure.
True - all games do not benefit the same way from more CPU performance. As shown in the video. But selling your old CPU and upgrading isn't too expensive on the AM4 platform. Right now you should be able to get the 5800X3D and the 5900X for a similar price - just choose the best one for you. 😎

Prices will come down even more soon and new amd gpus are going to relief a lot of new buyers from this ridiculuos situation in terms of pricing. I was in a voice channel on Discord while recording, and video recording(using OBS Streamlabs) is similar to streaming so those thing are accounted for 👍
What are you running that is using almost all of your 32 GB's of ram? You definitely could benefit from 64 GB's and it doesn't cost that much either for 3600 MHZ.
Yes you are right. I'm running pretty much everything mentioned in the end of the video plus more, and that is why I opted for a 12 core CPU instead of an 8 core. 👍
You should have choosen the 5800X3D ,which has fallen in price and is a better gaming CPU than the 5900X , in Star Citizen as well . I upgraded from the 3900X to the 5800X3D , this alone made a Difference from 96 FPS to 109 in Age of Odysee in 1440p . I use PBo2 Tuner which re enable PBO2 in Windows with a 5800X3D and i set the Curve optimiser to -30 all core = works ... . the 5800X3D is binned due to its limitation of 1,35v because of the V-Cache . You get 4-6 % more Multicore Performance from it and my 5800X3D can run with 1933 Mhz IF which enables me to set the DDR4 to 3866 Mhz in 1:1 mode . Due to its V-Cache you get in most Games much better 0.1% and 1 % lows with a 5800X3D

Yes it is worth it. Performance has been improved by CIG since the recording. And I have been able to reduce stuttering by cooling the VRMs. It is something to consider when vastly increasing CPU performance.
I will upgrade my 2700x to 5800x3d on my x470 ultra gaming. I stay in pcie 3.0 but i think is not necessary to change my motherboard. I think there are not a big difference with the 4.0. maybe i'm wrong? A french viewer
Considering the 5900X is cheaper than the 5800X3D, it'd make more sense to go with the R9, the extra cores will give you better longevity for the system as a whole. If you're only gaming focused and plan on upgrading within 2 years anyways, you may as well just build a new computer.

Yes but thé 5900X IS much more interesting if you use some rendering softwares or photoshop and co and not just gaming. Its my case for exemple.
If u only do gaming then 5800x3d is better choice. But if u game + stream + recording 5900x might be better.

You should compare performance while having discord, or streaming or with a TH-cam or twitch stream running in the background

Yes that used to be the case. But after each clip I show the core usage and it doesn't seem to be an issue.
