    Had mine for a year. Best car I’ve ever had. Done 10,000 miles, averaging 4.3 miles per kWh. Drove home from N. Devon last month, started 100 % charged, 255-mile trip, including motorway and dual carriageway sections, got back with 59 miles left.

      Apologies if you already saw my post here. We got one of the first e-Niro in March 2019. I have made a few videos of road trips and just general observations of charging, range, costs..all in € though as we live in France. Next week will be our first trip back to the UK since December 2019, will be interesting to see how the public charging situation is over there now. th-cam.com/channels/5AYgY9YJbDD9b1hpUkc2hw.htmlvideos?view=0

    Great car. Drove it in Germany last week on an extended trip. 400 km range at Autobahn speed (125 km/h average). And because the battery heats up due to the faster riding, you'll get 74 kW charging. Which means that you'd want the break anyway. Buying this car is one thing you will not regret. Fast acceleration too in Sport mode. Several BMW's couldn't keep up.

    We got a new E-Niro 2 last week and so far I love it! It replaced our Mitsubishi Asx which I really liked but was getting a bit tired! Your analysis is spot on and I must agree that Kia's figures aren't far off the mark. Definitely brilliant value compared to its competitors. How it'll be in two or three years re battery capacity etc remains to be seen but so far so good!

    It it amazing how good an EV it still appears, even after more than 2 years on the rapidly growing market - being a better EV than a lot of the new ones. I was thinking of getting the new EV6, but I'm not sure it's worth the price difference, since with the e-Niro you get even better range due to its amazing efficiency. The size is slightly smaller, I wish it had those extra 4" in length to increase the boot space. Anyway, still a great car, not only a great EV. Fine review, thanks.

    The front charging slot is perfect, in America almost all charging stations are pull in normal parking spots, so it’s easy to just pump in, instead of backing in or stretching the cord to the back of the vehicle.

  • @geoffhemingway3926
    @geoffhemingway3926 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got mine on lease this year and I think it's a fantastic car! It's easier to talk about the negatives as there are so few of them - the climate control is only single zone (not dual as mentioned in this video), there are too many bings and bongs when you first get in (putting your seat belt on before turning the car on will save 6 of these!) and the lower models don't get a heat pump, only the 4+ gets one and I think all EV's should be fitted with one as it improves efficiency so much.
    Everything else about the car is great and I would have one over a VW group car any day as they are so much better built (yes really). It may be getting long in the tooth now, but it's still one of the best electric cars on sale. I can't wait for the EV4!

  • @anthonyc8499

    The Niro EV is a brilliant little crossover! It's held back a bit by its slow charging speeds compared to rivals and it also looks like a hippopotamus from the front. Other than that, there's a lot to like about the car.

    • @keithreynolds
      @keithreynolds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The front is the best looking bit! 'Electifying' rated style of Enyaq as better in terms of style????!!?? what a boring SUV clone that is. Hippo is an original look. Shame they've ruined the Kona's look compared to previous version. Generally cars start out with a 'design' and slowly get "focus grouped" into mediocrity. Grump Grump Grump apologies for rant. K (:

      I try not to get too caught up on the charging speeds as I’ve realised that there are hardly any 100kw+ chargers…. However when there is more it will start to full behind. At least a heat pump is standard!!!

    Nice review and discussion of pros and cons of battery size versus price. The main concern about a shorter range is of course "range anxiety." But of course, one can simply charge more frequently. I find that the latest update of Tesla software eliminates range anxiety quite a bit: If one enters the destination in the nav system, it assumes a round trip and calculates and displays residual charge after the round trip. Useful feature if one has let the charge run to a low level.

    Another superb and amazing review again Tish! This EV, looks very practical and family friendly to be used on a daily basis! All the positive and negatives listed for the Kia E-Niro, are very valid and interesting! I personally, would go for the higher KW Battery output, as it would suit my circumstances better, compared to the lower version! But I do like the sound of the lower battery version too! I must say, that to lower or decrease and increase a (regenerative braking) function should be always left to right! I totally understand how you feel on that aspect! It must be quite irritating at times to get used to it being on the other side! Keep up the awesome work-rate you are always putting it weekly! Can't wait for the next episode dropping soon! 👌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👍🏻

I recently traded it in for a 2023 model and the new model is such a nicer car except one thing the piano black on the top of the shifter console blinds me when sun hits it also🤷🏼‍♂️ otherwise im happy so far

    Why do you keep mentioning VAG MEB platform cars? They are lower power, lower efficiency, lower range and higher cost for a similar specification as the E Niro. That’s the reason the E Niro still outsells these in Europe. The E Niro model 3 and 4 both come with heat pump as standard. VAG want an extra £1k for this alone. You seem to criticise the E Niro’s buttons, but these are safer to use whilst driving than any touchscreen. The E Niro design was aimed to help owners switch from fossil cars. It’s done that better than any other non Tesla model.

    I'd be putting my name down for one of these right now if it weren't for 2 things;
    No towing capacity. I mean none. Even fitting a tow bar invalidates the warranty! It's not as if I need to go far with a trailer, literally it's only 2km from our house to my son's, but I do need to be able take a few loads of wood down for him each winter, and not being able to hitch up the trailer is a really big issue.
    The second "problem" is that the next generation of Niro has just been launched in Korea. It is expected to go on sale in Q2 in Korea, probably Q4 in Europe, maybe Q1 in 2023. If that version has a towing capacity, then I will wait for it as my current car is perfectly capable. OTOH, if gen II has no towing capacity, I'll just have to take a deep breath and go for the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Not that I don't like the EV6, but I am not at all keen on the standard interior, and paying an extra €1600 just for a trim that is "OK" is too much, especially when the Ioniq has such a lovely interior (the pale grey one, I think, looks spectacular).
    What about the Skoda Enyaq? It's not that much cheaper than the Ioniq, and certainly quite a lot more than the Niro (which, curiously, is hardly ever mentioned), especially when specced to the same standard, and if I'm going to HAVE TO spend more than the cost of a Niro, I'd rather go that little bit more and get the one that I REALLY like, not the one that makes me feel... well, meh. Not only that, but all Ioniq 5s get the ulltra-fast charging, which is an add on for the Enyaq (and is still a LONG way off the Ioniq's charging speed).
    Having said all that, there seems to be a whole raft of Chinese companies ready to launch onto the European market, so I still can't be sure of what the situation will be like in 6 months' time. Some of those Chinese companies also seem to be ready to start building in Europe.
    One thing is for sure; the market is continuing to evolve at an incredibly rapid pace, and there doesn't seem to be an end of that evolution in sight.

    That grill blanking plate is such a tacky afterthought. Detracts from what was an ok looking car for a goofy SUV.
    Reminds me of a band-aid. How hard would it have been to mirror the charge door to at least balance the aesthetic?

    Good review bt a bit late as e nero due to be scapped as a full EV in 2022 in favour of the next size up vehicle 'Sorento'?? Always prefer buttons over touch screen as can use muscle memory and im sure the law would not be on your side if you were messing with a screen and had an accident.
    Last bit freaked me out as lip sync went out of sync.
    My choice would be KV6 but too expensive due to it having to be higher price that the e nero. Also no Tesla supercharger network but better quality than a tesla and support too.

    Please don’t compare the Hyundai kona too much to Niro. They share a lot of components, but the Niro is a longer and different car. The Kia Stonic is the sister car of the kona. The Niro has way more space as irs got 8 inch longer wheelbase. It’s much more practical, smoother and quieter than kona. I know as I have owned both kona and Niro. Kona has great looks and perhaps is ok for a young family with say up to 11 year old kids in the rear. The kona 64kwh battery is LG and different to the Niro 64kwh which is made by SK Innovation.

      @@gonzodetroitify I prefer the smoother ride of the e-niro. The Kona is slightly more agile, but was so jittery. They may have improved the Kona ride of course with better tyres, but it needs more than just tyres. Time will tell on the batteries and of course they could have changed since the original cars released. It was LG in the Kona and SK in the e-Niro. I recommend anyone comparing the cars to do proper test drives back to back over bumpy, and noisier roads. Both are fantastic cars that are also electric. Both are very efficient, and have a good balance of touch screen and real buttons.

    The underneath of the niro mechanically wise is that of a well built 90’s car. Anyone with half a brain will wait for the 4680cell ModelY.

      Rubbish comparison.
      The eniro 64kwh starts from £32k, the model Y will be £45k+. Aimed at totally different markets

      First of all, not everyone who wants an EV wants a Tesla. Secondly, there's no comparing the Niro EV with a Model Y, they're very different target markets.

      @@mikesmith666 you have no idea how much savings will be had with a rwd standard range model Y (which currently isnt offered) with front rear and central unibody castings in addition to the cheaper and more dense 4680 battery cells. You havent a clue about car production nor prices for batteries so i suggest you zip it.
