Kia e-Niro. Is it still worth considering?

  • The Kia e-Niro has been with us for three years now, and in that time, many newer electric crossovers have entered the market. And in 2021, Kia will launch the hotly-anticipated EV6. So does this, and all those newer rivals, relegate the e-Niro to the bottom of your list of cars to consider? In this episode, Bryan embarks on a trip to his hometown in Scotland to put the car to the ultimate test - the family driving holiday!

This video has helped me put myself at ease after ordering one exactly as in your video. You know that feeling when you get excited for a new vehicle, then start to get that silly bit of apprehension nearer delivery, "maybe i could have chosen something different or better", "does it have this or that feature?" for no apparent reason. I'm glad i watched it. Entertaining and informative, thanks for uploading!

I’m nearly in the same boat, it’s the car I’ve chosen for numerous reasons; practicality, features, budget, tax break and dare I say half decent performance, yet I still find myself looking to see if there is something else for no apparent reason. I’ve yet to find anything after a week of searching!

I'm in the same boat. I have one on order after test driving a few EVs. The 'anonymous' styling is a plus for some. My wife struggled with the design of some rivals; the iPad plonked on top of the dashboard of the Enyaq for instance. It looks and feels like a "normal" car, so a good introduction to the world of EVs. Looking forward to getting mine, hopefully before Christmas!

@@sandylman8219 I went for a black one in the end and it should be here this month so I will feedback once it arrives but I honestly don’t think there will be any regrets.
The more traditional interior is a huge plus for me as I just can’t get away with the overly minimalist looks of the ID3/4 and the lack of any buttons. I love the dash design in the E-Niro and I think the satin metal trim under the vents makes it look more premium than German rivals.

Without doubt, the best value crossover out there. Cracking range - I travelled from NW London to Bournemouth and back on a single charge - doing normal motorway speeds in February - that’s why you need a decent range - so you almost never need to use public charge points! Very comfortable, perfect ride height with all the gadgets! I love the fact that it’s not too over-bloated in size for UK roads - the EV6 & Ionic 5 look unnecessarily large. The only negatives with my 4+ are: the ride is a little jittery even in Sports mode which I use most of the time; accelerate hard and it pulls to the left....AND those incessant initial gongs, bongs, beeps + shutdown tune that’s totally unnecessary - our e-Golf doesn’t make this racket!!! Overall I’m mightily impressed - and in Yacht Blue, it looks stunning 🤩. For me, there isn’t currently a viable alternative out there for under £50K as I wouldn’t even consider a Tesla with their touchscreen-focused approach - the e-Niro has REAL buttons 👍👍👍...not that haptic nonsense like in the ID3!

Yes, I agree Roger. I don't like the switchgear in the ID.3/ID.4 and so that is where the Kia wins inside for me. It is a great car, and that range is ideal for that commute you do. I only charged once between London and Scotland, and the same on the return leg. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

I am 75, my current car is an Eclass coupe diesel and it beautiful to look at, sit in and enough power and style for anyone - - - - except when I get in or out of it it's akin to a laurel and hardy short 😂 now I need a car that is easy to get in and out of, and I can get my smallish golf buggy in. So an SUV but which one? Well you tell me! It will be averaging 60 miles a week, don't get used in winter as I'm in Spain ola and this car fits the bill it's that simple

The eNiro *is* probably still worth considering - depending on the deal you get offered. But since the eNiro hit the market, there is now much more competition! Today, right now, the Skoda Enyaq has to be up there on the list if a vehicle like the eNiro was/is one of your potential buys...... very similar price, but lots more style, particularly inside, and maybe a little more/higher quality? The Enyaq is slightly larger than the eNiro too. The eNiro is limited to around 75kw charging, but higher spec Enyaq's can be specced to take up to 125kw charge rate, and with ever increasing numbers of ultra rapid chargers beginning to appear, that may be a plus depending on your motoring needs....

Full-spec Hyundai Kona Electric 64 kWh 2022 (facelift) gives more EV for the bucks. Kona is more efficient with longer range, a bit cheaper, better sit position that gives you better view (imao), looks more like a modern EV, no glossy/piano-finish, great headlights, BlueLink-app is decent, practical HUD and it feels a bit more comfy than e-Niro. Kona may not be the most modern and premium EV out there. Some hard plastic here and there. But overall a really good car.
Kia e-Niro is still a good car with bigger boot space, a bit more legroom for rear passenger and build-quality is good of course.
But I still prefer Kona Electric over e-Niro.

    • @AutoEV

The Kona is certainly the better looking of the two, and my only criticism of the Hyundai is the lower quality materials they use, and the fact it is less refined.
