    Hey, I think something that would reallllly help is really focusing on powerfully swinging the ball up as you go for a dunk. Especially on one handers, you can start with the ball in both hands and thrust it into the hand you will be dunking with up above your head. If you time this with your jump it can make you jump a lot higher with a ball in your hand, as it gives you some of the power you lose from not having an arm swing.

      Thank you very much for the suggestion. I think that makes a ton of sense. My approach and using my arms are things I really have to work on. Thanks again!

    I’m 5’6 at thirteen and I always see ppl dunk. After watching this and two months later from barely touching the net I can grab ten feet easily. Thanks for the motivation.
    I barely trained with weights and focused on 100m dash and technique.

    Huge tip my guy: Never slow down when you go to jump. Always speed up. You can practice like 3 steps/ 3 fast steps and explode into the jump but speed up as you jump!!! 💯

    • @RyanCS10
      @RyanCS10  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is great advice. I feel like I have been slowing down on my approach, maybe because I am focusing on footwork. But I agree with you, I should try to explode into the jump. Thank you!

    You deserve more subs. Tip: do some plyometrics they helped me ALOT. In only a month I went from not touching net to getting to the middle of the net. I am only 5’0.

      Thank you! Glad to hear plyos helped you! I do plan on a working those in more, right now I just do 10-20 minutes a week (all in one session).

      @aku5786 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      dunking is a plyometric itself so yeah plyometrics can help but it’s better to stay specific to what you want to get better at, while including general strength work since training specifically for a long periods of time may lead to injury. You are doing great and this is really good approach just don’t give up man you got this

    As a dunker big tips, Use your arms more like send find your arms up with the ball as you dunk. Also just keep trying, and consider doing plyometiric training. Examples include explosive squatting as when dunking its important to get off the ground as fast as possible. Just work on being explosive and using your upperbody when dunking more.

    • @RyanCS10
      @RyanCS10  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome, thank you for the tips. I will try to do more explosive work, right now 90% of my training are "slow" reps, but it makes sense to do more things similar to dunking (explosive squatting). Thanks again!

      If you are asking how I have come this far in my dunk progress, I am actually working on a video right now where I take you through my week of training. I am excited to share, so be on the look out for that. I think it will better show how I have come this far than I would be able to explain here. Thanks again for watching!

      @@RyanCS10 yeah, im also 13 years old and i want to be able to dunk before the summer, im not too sure how feasible that is but i have a 28 inch vert right now and i need about 32-34 to dunk, also for increasing your very you usually want to be doing a pretty long session of just trying to touch as high as you can or dunking on lower rims, most people do it for 1-4 hours per week, as well as mixing some plyos and weightlifitng across the week, though you can spread the jump sessions around the week

  • @L6.626
    @L6.626 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Don’t get hurt. You have to learn some techniques about landing first. I was injured from practicing dunk due to bad landing form and consistently jumping without rest. Fortunately, after 8 months recovery and 4 months training, my vertical even getting improved than before. I am 35y and 5’10 only ,I can dunk 9’10 rim finally. by the way my son just 1y, dunk is really not easy for me.😭 Hope you getting better !
