Canada vol biv adventure paragliding, Pacific to Rockies

  • The first half of my vol biv from the Coast mountains to the Canadian Rockies, some spectacular flying among the requisite dreary days and sweating by the highway. This was from summer in 2018, probably among my best flying in that year I took off work. Only a few weeks later the smoke rolled in and pretty much finished the season in North America.

Help me understand how a guy paraglides around the interior of British Columbia, some of the most rugged and scarcely inhabited mountains in the world and doesn't need rescuing, hospitalization, never seems to get lost and basically just makes up his itinerary as he goes along.
Astounding act of freedom and boldness.

Very familiar places, and very serious places as well. I"m PG pilot from the area and in September during hunt I run in to grizzly cubs. That's was a shit show and that I was unharmed despite that I had 300 WSM is miracle. The areas where you were walking pretty dangerous. Make sure next time you have things for self defense.

Thank you. I never visited Russia but flying overhead I remember looking down at the Urals and thinking that would be interesting

Plenty of them mountains down here. Most notably the Caucasus range - much like the Alps in altitudes and overall dimensions...
The Urals are in much harsher climate and wilder country. But no big deal given your Canadian experience ;)
