Lumby is so awesome. You must have been there just before we tore up the tarps and put down the astro turf. the launch zone is HUGE and smooht now.
I got some more time in there last year. The new launch surface is is awesome.

Best place to live for flying would be BC. Best place to live for money would be AB.
Tons of good places to fly in Western Canada. Checkout Freedom Flight Park as a good place to start to meet the freeflight community here.
