This is why I only take direction from email. If someone asks me to do something I just say "no problem, email me the details". Then if I get asked why something didn't get done, I can say I didn't receive the details, and if they change how they want it done, I have written proof. Despite doing this for 25 years, I still get people trying to pull one over.
Or for initiative, “just to confirm you are telling me xyz, please advise if this isn’t the case etc” no response= they agree with what you wrote

Never call HR they work for your company and will always screw you over.
But then she can't go home for the day
Actually that could be rather dangerous. Oh yes HR will not like this as it is a hostile work environment. But very likely the company has rules about recording others. Yes you would be amazed and the number that do. And so you go to HR and *boom* HR takes care of Janet .. and they they HAVE to take care of you to be fair and follow the rules equally. As doing so allows they to say in any court case they have these policies and strictly follow them, protecting the company.

Facts. HR is for the company. Not the employee. They are aware of the problematic employees. It's not illegal to be around toxic people just unfortunate. Everyone like an a**hole has one and it all stinks, lol. If you push it's just gonna be 💩
Especially if that's the company culture. It saves the company money for the problem to relieve itself by the the plaintiff employee quiting. Costs more to fire. Also if the work place has arbitrary mediation in place. Good luck. Unless something criminally happened that you can prove without a doubt took place? Find another job. HR doesn't care. Oh , that's right, they suddenly say after many years of having the same schedule that it's no longer compatible with their needs, and if you don't change it you will have zero hours, and if anyone tries to give you hours they will cut them back to zero and write that person up. Yep, Ive left a mgr position for this exact thing. 🖐🏾Not stitching me up, no Sir! 🤡
Workplace sabotage is never that cut and dry; they'll refuse to listen to the recording, and if they want you out will, regardless co-sign anything the manager says, doesn't matter what evidence you provide, it will get twisted for their narrative. I'm extremely familiar w/ workplace sabotage & harassment, unfortunately.
I was thinking exactly this.
Everybody is giving this advice of keep paper records or similar but when the moment comes, nobody would care about it.
It helped me once in a bad situation, I sent a screenshot of an email and said I had more I wanted to show in person,, then the rrhh and manager backed up from whatever they were planning to do but a week later, the manager was full on work harassment.
So it can even make things worse.
Some managers have this way of thinking, that they are strong if they don't admit mistakes, and they seem to think that they have to support their middle managers no matter what, whatever they do, I guess to prove they're right anyway or maybe as way to have some support from them no matter what.
Facts!
If anything the record is for a lawyer, labor board , or unemployment insurance claim. Depending on jurisdiction, the recording may not be admissable but it does give the lawyer something to go hunting for potentially.
Not all companies are like how you describe and would see managers like these as the problems to be fired. But theres a ton of bullshit exploiter harrasment companies out there who dgaf about employees
@@philswaim392
The point is, if it's recorded then it's admissible as evidence. Managers don't like it and some think they're above the law, that it doesn't apply to them, but when push comes to shove its evidence with their name on it
@mypointofview1111 no not the case. Admissibility differs by jurisdiction.
Yes!!!! I have worked at law firms for 30 years and have been thru this a few times. People are evil and get upset at you if you defend yourself. Make your life living hell just because they can
Oh yes!!! Facts❤❤❤
Humans are not a rational species. They bend reality to boost their social status. So droll.
They don’t like it when you won’t let them play with you!
I got this behavior from a law firm also. Being a new person is like a sheep in a wolf's den.
I ran a moving company for a decade and the only three jobs I eventually refused involved lady lawyers. Even though they were referrals, they'd constantly want to change/review/alter the agreements, EVEN after my crew had done clean outs for free, etc. I suggested gently they might be happier using someone else. They didn't "get it". Than I said: And I know my guys would be happy, too. THEN they got it.
Wish I had recorded when this sh:t happened to me.
Same
Me too. 💯
Ever since then, I keep my phone on me all the time.
I ALREADY have a recording app installed, and it's easily accessible on my home screen.
Also, a trick I use is when they call you, INSIST that you have to go to the bathroom really quick. That way, you can que up the recording app. Turn the volume ALL THE WAY UP and start recording as soon as you come out of the bathroom.
Depending on where your phone's speakers are located, put your phone on the floor or under your chair or on a nearby table face down--but don't keep looking at it (I had some shady supervisors SUSPECT that I was recording just because I was holding my Blackberry, though I SHOULD'VE BEEN RECORDING THEY'RE TRIFLIN' A$$ES! 😣).
I'm convinced that people have NOTHING BETTER to do that to go to work and purposely start ish.

I wrote down EVERYTHING and always asked for emails to verify. Nobody was going to say, "Well, you didn't finish the task," or "Why was this done this way?" Because I would just smile and pull out my notebook or offer to forward the emails.
Watched more than one person's eyes get real big, and had a couple people glare daggers at me...but what could they do? I always had evidence to bach myself up. It's sad, but you have to.
I had a manager try this with a text conversation once.
I had gotten some unapproved overtime and she brought it to the store manager saying she didn’t know that I hadn’t taken a lunch, when I literally had a text conversation from her about whether or not I had taken lunch and when to clock out on time (which I did).
I asked how much overtime I had gotten, it was 15 minutes.
I ended up quitting a few months later.

No, you're not reporting to HR for their help. You're reporting to HR so you can let your lawyer and the Labor Bureau know that you followed the correct procedure.
HR will back a Bad Manager without Hesitation. People will be Wrongfully Fired, will quit out of Frustration, Employees will be working in Fear and great Stress, but nothing EVER gets done about the Real Problem. The Reason Bad Managers NEVER get Fired, is if they were to be Fired, it would look like Managers above made a Mistake hiring/promoting the Problem Child, and as we know, cause it is constantly beaten into us. Management NEVER makes a MISTAKE
It almost sounds as if you and I worked for the same company and had the same manager. I worked for a very large music publisher and their ultimate solution to this problem, when something absolutely had to be done about an incompetent and/or dishonest departmental manager, was to promote them to a specially invented department where they didn't really do anything meaningful so they couldn't do any harm. They'd get a job title like Residuary Rights, Contracts and Fees Distribution Executive. Then retire with a fat pension.
The problem is that once they make up their mind to jack you up, they're going to jack you up.
I knew a guy in another department where I worked who had that crap pulled on him by an incompetent boss once. ONCE. After that, when the boss started issuing verbal orders, my friend would hold up his hand, reach in his desk drawer, pull out a cassette recorder (this was the 1970s), hold up the microphone and say, "Okay, continue." Usually, the guy would just turn around and leave. But my friend never had another problem with his boss. These days, we'd use a cell phone but the concept is sound - ALWAYS ASSUME THEY'RE TRYING TO SET YOU UP AND PROTECT YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY.
This CRAP was done to Mr but I only wish I had a recording. Now I know why I have PTSD.

Sabotaging the profitability of this company just to play petty little games like this."
Besides, if you still have that recording, then you have a fallback if the boss doesn't address the issue. But more likely Janet is going to soon be the subject of a company-wide e-mail about how she's "leaving the company to explore new opportunities," and now there's a vacancy for her position.

Good Points. 💯
Trouble is, I've been "faked out" before. 😣 They COULD write Janet up only to tear it up once I leave the room--at least I'd still have my copy.
Or they COULD have a loooooong talk with Janet about how she F'ed up and is a workplace liability and "don't let it happen again".

I love these skits so much!! This was the same energy I brought to the workplace because of either horrible coworkers or equally as bad, corporate. We need this!! 👏👏
Veronica is savage! I luv her lol
I love Veronica so much. We all wish!
I never knew I needed this in my life. So professional and respectful always. Yet says exactly what needs to be said in each situation. Inspirational for everyone to stand up for yourselves. Not just at work but in all situations. And you can do it in a classy and calm manner
Man, I need a part two that was not long enough!😭🤣
I love this, it’s about time somebody got a lying managers behind!
Please give us a part two where she still reported this to HR!
Sure
Something like this happened to me with my first job out of college. I put a voice-activated recorder in my desk drawer, and got a recording of a couple of colleagues talking crap about me and rifling through my tote bag and desk.
Between the comments section and video I’m learning a lot.
🙏🏾
Remember HR is not your friend! They will punish you severely for whisle blowing anything nowadays!
Best just to leave. What I did. I left with immediate affect due to fear of retailation. I refused to talk to HR as they were well known for emotional abuse and making things your fault.
Thank God for work unions! Your union has your back! Not HR.
This skit is totally hilarious and a prime example of why we need to cover our ass in the workplace cause they be on some bullshit
Her face lol when she got caught 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Veronica is savage. I love her!
In some states it doesnt matter how the recording is used, if you record someone without their permission thats a crime.
That’s messed up in my opinion. I understand how people can take things you said out of context but it seems more like just a safety net for the powerful.
Fucking with people at work is a crime can go to the EEOC, the feds, where you can claim a financial settlement against the employer if the EEOC finds you were in fact mistreated. So, I'd take my chances and record. The EEOC award will cover the measly civil penalty fine for recording.
@@moosepatil5946 If the recording is illegal, it would not be permissible.
@James-ws9ze I speak as someone who definitely used a so-called illegal recording to substantiate the absue I was experiencing at work. The recording definitely was permitted, and I definitely proved my case. So...yah know...I guess we should all just do our best
@@moosepatil5946 Did you show the recording to the higher ups at work / HR or to a government agency / court?
sometimes theyd leave you there like a dead fish and wonder why you arent working……
its like they needed a month-in to train you. or to “get used to you” watever that means
How do ppl lie on their own proof. Idk either but there u have it. And here most of staff would've had me believing charting was pointless..
Never "F" with Veronica!!!
Her face when she began to play the recording 🤣
The ONLY time I've ever been written up at any of my jobs, was something like this (it was back in 2018). The boss had told me that a girl was being potty trained so if she pooped in her underwear to take her underwear off and seal them in a bag to give to the parents when they picked her up. She said to NOT put a diaper on her because we had been helping the parents potty train her for a few weeks and the diapers were regressive to the training. She even specifically said that if the girl peed or pooped on herself, she would hate how gross it felt and it would make her want to use the toilet.
Well, she went in her underwear, so I took them off and bagged them up. Later, the girl was playing outside and pooped all the way down both pant legs and it went up her back. I was cleaning the classrooms (around the last hour of every day, one teacher would be on janitor duty, one teacher would go home, and one teacher would watch all three classrooms). This poor girl had been sitting in/playing in her poop for over half an hour before anyone noticed (I forget how they found out how long it had been). The boss had to change her and I got written up for not putting a diaper on her.
When there's bigger fish to fry. When ppl say things kinda like know ur battles... Welp, I'm broke. & I truly don't like drama anyways. So I leave in peac- quietness. I hope that doesn't disqualify me from anything. But then again, idk how u have a facility w/ out the facility part...
My gosh that sounds like cruelty and child neglect, it honestly sounds criminal. I hate hearing that you agreed to that crazy behavior because it makes you seem extremely dim-witted and lacking any independent thought whatsoever. Idc who told you to do that, you should NOT be working with kids. Get help.
@@RepresentWV The child would be cleaned up, they just said to not put a diaper on the child after getting them cleaned up.
@@samlynx2016 yeah, sorry I didn't know all the information and I'm not in that line of work myself, I'm sorry for being so ignorant and judgmental in my original reply
@@RepresentWV I appreciate that.
HR doesn't care!
I like how the senior manager initially dismisses Veronica’s rebuff as “that’s not proof” when the managers argument is also not definitive proof, just their word.
Yep but at the company I work for. when it's your word against a managers word the manager is always correct.
Had another job where my Caucasian coworker said that our black division chief could not read…I was written up for it but I won that EO case too.
Edit: It is a shame that I have to add this, but please don’t attack me or harass me for stating what happened to me.
Why would you get written up for something someone else did? I hope you found a better place to work!
@@MsGenXodus That’s what I was saying but the girl broke down crying and my black supervisor chose her over me. I even was written up for asking them to pronounce my name correctly. I found a much better solution, and I am grateful for it. 🙏🏾
What does your coworker’s skin color have to do with anything?

So this is the way to handle co workers who love to throw you under the bus. I’ve dealt with these type of co workers in a few different jobs and never knew how to handle them.
No doubt
Who needs Game of Throne when we have such eventful work environment
yeaah, about Game of Thrones. I was suspecting 5 people that one of them tells on me to the team leader and manager. Like Tyrion Lannister, I told each of them something slightly different and identified the rat.
In a right to work
State.. there would be no excuses to let you go. You’re just fired.
Here's what employers don't tell you about right to work: Right-to-work (RTW) laws are state laws that allow workers to choose whether or not to join a labor union and prohibit employers from requiring employees to join a union to get or keep a job.
@@HezrouDhiaga 😂
@@tinyshamrocks2172 What are you laughing at? That explanation is 100% accurate.
That person’s just braindead and only knows how to respond to things with crying laughing emojis
@Hez yeah I think many people misunderstand RTW states. Many companies are extremely hesitant to fire you unless you give them an obvious, documentable reason to do it. It’s a lot of paperwork and if you’re not fired for a grievance you can file for unemployment and they will have to pay for some of that. My friend was fired for discussing wages with his coworkers. If that sounds corrupt it’s because it is. It’s literally a law in my state you cannot be fired for that, so he took them to court and won a small settlement and backpay. It’s imperative to know your rights as employee bc most employers will use any opportunity to screw you over.
Can you do that for real?
Depends on your state. I live in Arkansas, and we can record a conversation with the consent of at least one member of the conversation. You are a member, which makes it legal. Video is a different matter.
Most people will whine that you can't because of consent but you shouldn't need consent from people actively creating a hostile working environment for you. You shouldn't need consent to protect yourself. HR isn't there to look out for the employee despite what most people believe.
You legally can't in many places, but that shouldn't stop you. Proving someone is a liar is more valuable than whatever legal or workplace penalty you receive.
Veronica can do anything she wants!😂
Yes you can. Just like Veronica said, they are not in a court and the recording won't be shown to a judge. You can still show it to HR or at work.
Love how they both turn into attorneys for a second. You can’t record me!This isn’t law and order!😊
This is why I keep myself covered with the cloth and staying genuine to my craft.
This is what it’s like working with an office full of women, which is why productivity & eventually company profitability suffers.
🤷♂️ IJS
This must be the Federal Government
No, you can not! As they said, regardless, you can not record a conversation without the consent of the other individual! No matter where you are or who you are showing! Wrong presentation! The best way to protect yourself is in writing, like email.
Depends on the State

While it is indeed illegal, the fact that you can catch people out on lies. Makes up for it. Imo. It presents a glaring contradiction in their character that does IMMENSELY HARM their crediblity going forward, you can literally always use it against them from now on.
That's stupid. As if anyone is going to incriminate themselves via email.
@az.az466 can we just enjoy the animation? You are probably the type of coworker that needs to be recorded because they try to pull stunts like this. Which is why you got triggered. And if you are not triggered then you will not respond! 🤐
This is why you have to cover your a$$ at all times when you have a supervisor who personally does not like you.
veronica is a savage.
HR is not your friend. Don't be surprised anything ever happens to that manager.
As a teacher, I warn you that you must absolutely save emails, written docs, communicate through emails, have all your documentation in order….especially with parents, unfortunately.
If your boss EVER asks you to perform work that goes against company policy, DEMAND THAT REQUEST IN WRITING!
It’s the fact that I’m watching this today right after having the exact same type of meetings with my big boss about my direct supervisor who tried to set me up. But I kept the emails🤣🤣🤣
I rarely subscribe to skits, but MAN this hit home for me! 😂😂
