    We recently had a 2022 Defender 110 P300 with LR Approved 7 year CPO warranty and financed at 2.9% APR. Price of the suv was $49,750 with 12,000 miles. 5 seater, heated seats, ambient lighting, urban pack,terrain response 2. So far so good. and that 7 year CPO warranty from Landrover is great. Btw, This is my first LR product and it feels and drive solid compared to our old 2020 Wrangler and our 2017 4runner limited. It is smooth, quiet and composed for some reason. It doesn’t sound hollow on the interior compared to other vehicles we’ve previously owned.

    A used luxury car can make a completely different level of sense than buying one brand new. You have to be careful about which luxury car you choose because some luxury features can drive up the price of cost of maintenance (for example air suspension) but as long as you know what you are getting into they can make a really good used buy. They are often purchased brand new by the type of people who can afford to buy them, maintain them, and can afford to sell them as soon as they become yesterday's trend even though it's still a perfectly good vehicle. What is considered 'luxurious' changes every year and as a result some luxury cars from the past look downright silly as entry level cars eventually start to have the features which were groundbreaking and new in luxury cars from the past. I have heard of issues with the Ingenium line engine but that was years ago. Unfortunately I don't see a lot of customer feedback on these Ingenium engines.

    Just a heads up: the depreciation isn’t stopping on Land Rovers, and problems can keep coming. If you are looking at getting one, please make sure you are in warranty for the length of your intended ownership period. Otherwise these are lease and dump vehicles.

    Thing is, if I'm spending $70K on a vehicle, I'm gonna want to keep it for longer than the warranty period. And if I'm spending $70K, I should be able to rely on that vehicle not to constantly break and have issues. In any economical scenario you choose, spending more money for a product should net you higher quality goods. But when speaking about cars, manufacturers are charging stupid sums of money for what is essentially rolling garbage. They put lipstick on it, and some airbags, so it's pretty and soft, but it's still garbage. You would think this would mean nobody would buy their cars, right? Nope!! There are plenty of people who will buy those cars, at astronomically ridiculous prices, and then make excuses for why it's okay that these pieces of overpriced junk keep breaking down. Why is that? It's literally the definition of insanity. Now, brands who used to be synonymous with reliability are making increasingly unreliable vehicles and demanding increasingly stupid prices for them. Anybody else see the trend here? This is not helping anyone!! Stop buying overpriced junk, people, or that's exactly what manufacturers will keep making!!

    As someone that drove Defenders, Land Rover, Range Rovers quite frequently, they do drive extremely nice. We used them a lot in the city and occasionally offroad and they do pretty good, but we never bought them new. Even 20 years ago, these would take huge depreciation hits after the first 3 years. You coukd buy one off lease for 60% or more off. It was nomuse to buy them new since we were modifying them for our purpose, so after 35-40k miles, people dumped these and if you bought them from a golf resort or a UK government contract, you coukd get them even cheaper sometimes. In the UK these are way cheaper and since we drove right hand drive cars anyways, it worked.

      @@chinoyhouse8247That’s a great deal. I have a 20 defender about to run out of warranty. I wish I could find a deal like that. I was planning on buying a Landcruiser even though the Defender drives better, more powerful and looks better because of perceived reliability of Toyota which it seems is a myth. I’ve had 2 landcruisers and a GX which were more troublesome than my defender.

    Well I would avoid these earlier Defenders cuz they might have a ton of problems, but I’ve heard the new ones should be solid, the facelift L405 Range Rover (2018-2022) is a solid bargain on the used car market, especially if you can find one certified pre-owned for a good price

    People who complained about reliability never drove one. My neighbor has a 2014 Range Rover that was over $100K when new and he still has it with over 130,000 miles and never got stranded or had any major problems. I usually lease so reliability is not a concern but I can tell you that I never had a problem with them even though I put in the cheapest gas. The people who complain about these vehicles are not even in this tax bracket but they think their opinion matter.

    Maybe so, but 37,000mi is a lot for a year. My '23 X has 5,000mi. Prob worth a bit more. All is meaningless unless you need to sell. You are so correct though about comparisons with Lexus. The Defender is far more refined and ruggedly luxurious. I feel lucky to have owned such a nice vehicle as the Defender X, regardless of depreciation.

    JLR brand changed parents so many times because they are beautiful vehicles with most unreliable engines and transmission under the Sun 🌞. I would even buy a TATA vehicles than having a British heritage brand owned by Indian Brand TATA!

    • @Colinpark
      @Colinpark 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually the 4.4 and 4.2 engines were rock solid. A lot of tranny problem were caused by JLR claiming the transmissions were sealed for life, when the transmission maker was saying service every 75,000km. If you buy these vehicles, get a good diagnostic tool like icarsoft, you can then ascertain what the fault is and possibly even cancel the nuisance faults yourself.
