    Well… that was a click bait scare for us! I’m so glad your motor didn’t blow!

      Us too!! It was rather surprising to have the line blow... and messy! Certainly blessed to be at our shop and not in the middle of nowhere.

    great videos and nice set up. I am learning as you discuss your truck ;; hope you do more even if it is just doing maintenance . it gives me insight into mine even though a different engine (the 6.8, replacement for the 6.2) and different transmission in a 2023 F350 CC SRW . I hope my powertrain proves to be as relieable as what you have . Time will tell. I like your take on the XL ; mine is an XL (it has the STX package; mainly appearance) with cloth seats , and glad it doesn't have any more bells and whistles tha it does. Didn't order mine, it was on the lot. Happy to find it !

      We will be doing more videos this year. Been rather busy with real estate projects. I'm curious how the 6.8L does... yes simplicity is best for reliability. Good stuff!!

    We have a 2019 F-350 SRW diesel that we use to transport our Arctic Fox 811. Have made a few suspension mods to improve the stability of our 2800# camper. A few weeks ago we left our home in East Texas and the wind was really bad all the way to SE Kansas. What a difference the mods have made. We have about $3700 in suspension mods (Airbags, Helper Springs, Sway Bumpers and Torsion Bar), plus a steering mod due to two death wobble incidents. Though we don't do the off roading you two do, dirt roads are where it ends for us. We get around 12.9 mpg with the camper loaded and with fresh water, empty is around 17 mpg. If you're ever in East Texas, always welcome to boondock on our 25 acre homestead.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Suspension makes a huge difference and really not reasonable to add a truck camper and not improve the suspension. It would be fun to meet up! Stay in touch.

    I was thinking you shouldve gone for a 550

      HAHA - That would be a bit BIG. This truck is the biggest I'd want for the off roading and places we like to go. Keeping the travel vehicle as light as possible really makes travel and exploring more enjoyable. :)

    Ya when I first saw your tires at 8:00 , I said over inflated.

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's why I think they may be damaged... We've tried running them at 30 psi when unloaded or when towing lighter trailers. But it hasn't corrected the tire wear. And we need to run 45-50psi with the camper and heavier trailers for proper load support. Sadly we may end up swapping them prematurely. I'm sure the tread would last for anther 10-15k miles. Tread depth is 7/32 middle and 11/32 on the edges. It's rather crowned and cupped. Worst I've ever had tires. I blame the dealer more than the tires at this point.

    I would love to go with 37” tires but don’t think my stock F350 tremor would handle it without a lift love your setup

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you could fit with the correct wheel backspacing and narrower 37" tire. Like the Nitto Recon Grappler 37x11.5R17. Rather unusual tire size. :)

    What is your gas milage without the camper?

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We really don't know. Haven't run an entire tank without towing, hauling or with the camper. Our best tank was 13.5mpg with a majority being empty. All trucks get similar fuel mileage when hauling or towing (the same load) with the same tires/modifications. But smaller engines and diesels will typically beat out big gasser V8s when empty. Keep in mind we have 37" tires, 4" lift and 800+ lbs of steel and modifications. Our 2019 Super Duty 6.2L would get 17-19mpg on the road empty (stock). Hope that helps!

    Hello sir. Great set of vids you have. Is your truck the older 6.2 transmission? Thank sir.

    • @TruckCamper

      Yes. We have the 2020 6.2L with 6 speed transmission. It's been solid so far!

      @@TruckCamper Thanks sir. If I remember correctly, it had the newer version of the transmission that originally came with the 6.2. Is this correct?

      @@goodtalker I believe it was mostly programming changes for the 6 speed not mechanical.

    I have a question,
    What are those 2 black plastic caps on the top of the cab? Their towards the back near the rear cab window on top.

    • @TruckCamper

      They are for the wirelss connections gps and cellular antennas.

      So it’s pre wired?
      Is it pre-wired for the extra add-ons for GPS and cellular, do you mean WI-FI?
      Are the wires already there under the 2 black caps?
      By the way I love ❤️ your TH-cam channel. I thinks it’s awesome and love how you and your spouse take the off-road adventure without a Jeep….Show the world that a Ford can do it.
      Keep up the good work my friend.

    I've been watching you guys for a long time. Looking to do the same setup but with a long bed flat bed. I've learned a lot from your videos thank you for taking the time.

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely! Thanks for following along. You might consider doing a 8ft flatbed on a short wheelbase Super Duty. The short beds (like ours) are 6ft 9in. Anther guy we know has our same truck configuration and put an 8ft flatbed on it. Rather cool to have the additional camper space and same short wheelbase. Just an idea!! Have fun!

    • @TATTOO850
      @TATTOO850 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey I hadn't thought about that. Will that work with the center of gravity on the camper? Is Yours 60" cab to Axel?

    • @TruckCamper
      @TruckCamper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Camper weight is front loaded. I'd guess that our camper has 70% (or more) of the total camper weight on the front 12-24" of the camper floor. The longer wheelbase keeps the same rear overhang... meaning all the additional 8ft bed length gain is in the wheelbase. Our Truck is the Super Cab Short Bed 148" WB. The same Super Cab Long Bed is 164" WB. The length extension is all in front of the rear wheels. Truck campers could work with a 8ft flatbed on short bed because of the camper weight is front loaded. However.... Do you plan on towing? If so that could pose some challenges (depending on trailer tongue weight) since you'd need a hitch extension creating greater leverage further from the rear tires.
      We owned a 160" WB Super Duty and sold it for our 148" WB Super Duty. The turning circle difference is 3ft which is a ton if trying to maneuver anywhere. We much prefer the shorter wheelbase in parking and off road type situations. Just something to keep in mind depending on how you plan to use the truck.

    • @TATTOO850
      @TATTOO850 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TruckCamper Thanks for the breakdown.!!
      I think I'll stick with the long bed as I'm looking for more room and comfort in a camper. I won't be doing any of the off roading you guys will. And maybe I can have some room in front of the camper also.
      Is going to get some custom Springs also. Thank you thank you....
