    I applied this today on a white convertible mustang. I think I may have used more than needed as I had about half the can left after the 2nd coat. 50ml per coat. It was hard to see where it was going on white paint so I used a little more. I used my own applicator and used the included towel to wipe off. Wipe on wipe off. Easy application. Nice gloss. Paint felt slick on the 2nd coat.

      It's the very very small things like how you hold your towel or how you flip it over etc that makes things easier. Or how much pressure to apply. I don't know why but it's gone in my head that the more pressure you apply, better the results. So I gas out pretty soon. Lol!

I used to drive old beater cars (12-15 yo) so I didn’t care much for the paint jobs but I just bought a 4 year old black SUV and I want to keep her shiny and protected and I want to do it myself. My question is in regards to polishing too. I live in an appartement so no access to pressure washer but I’ll go to my local manual car wash to do all of this on a quiet day so that’ll solve that issue :) As for the polish though, is there a way to polish the car without buying a polisher and pads? Brian, I know right, easy great gloss, and great protection. You and I have full size crew cab pick ups, I killed myself prepping and putting on 3 coats (what GTechniq calls for) of GTechniq CSL and EXOV4. Heck doing the roof alone, is like doing a whole Mini Copper. Don't forget 20" wheels, and all that glass. Next time I get get a truck or any vehicle (I love the results of Can Coat) I'm going Gyeon Can Coat, and given it's ease I would actually welcome applying it a couple of times a year, because I enjoy doing that kind of stuff.

    Great idea for a series, I really enjoyed it. Gyeon Can Coat certainly does not get enough exposure it's a great product. I hope to see you incorporating it in more of your videos, I recently applied GTechniq CSL and EXOv4 to my full size crew cab pick up truck. The results were stellar, though considering the work involved, prepping, polishing etc., then applying 3 coats the traditional way is very time consuming and taxing on the body, next time around I'm going with Can Coat.

    Excellent guide. However I want to ask. What are my options when I don't have a garage and polisher.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can still do all of these steps outside, just make sure you never work in direct sunlight. Work in the shade, on a cool surface. And remember to spray the CanCoat in the folded towel (so it doesn't go all over the place with the wind). Also, the new version of CanCoat, called CanCoat EVO lasts twice as long, and is outdoor friendly for the application. Link in the video description.
      As far as polishing, if you don't have a polisher, just note that your paint won't be improved. Paint polishing is what removes defects like swirls and scratches and oxidation. It makes the paint look glossy (way more than any paint protection can) and gives clarity and depth to the finish.
      Also, polishing is what removes 100% of any old protection that might be on your paint, a crucial step before applying a ceramic based protection, as the protection needs to bond to a virgin clear coat. If you have a wax on the paint currently, the coating won't bond as well and won't last as long.

    Thank you so much for this video. I followed your procedures and applied Can Coat! I thought this product would be forgiving to a newbie like me. My first time! After curing duration (12hrs fir bewer version?), when can we start washing cars? We may need to wait 7days or so like other ceramic coating?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I'm guessing you applied the latest CanCoat EVO version right? Gyeon recommends waiting at least 12 hours after the application before you expose the vehicle to water or rain. I recommend a full 24 hours if possible. And then, wait at least 7 days before you wash your car again. The coating continues curing during the first weeks. Ideally, I would say wait 2 weeks before you wash your car.
      You are correct. The same principles apply like a glass bottle coating.
      Cheers!

      Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on TH-cam as we surpassed 985,000 subscribers and we have over 135 million views! I have been detailing for 27 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
      You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
      A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
      - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
      - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
      - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
      - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
      - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
      If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
      I explain all of this in this popular video: th-cam.com/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/w-d-xo.html
      So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers:

      Yes you would redo all the steps for maximum durability.
      The bare minimum though is to wash the car, use an iron remover, then when you are done rinsing and drying, use the Gyeon Prep to prep the surface, and apply a new fresh layer of CanCoat.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a great choice if you want an easy to apply coating. If you are willing to put more hours into it, have more detailing experience and a bigger budget, you could go for a full blown ceramic coating in a glass bottle like in my popular tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/byKcYsEyWGk/w-d-xo.html
      But if you want quick and easy application, Gyeon Can Coat is very good. And in 6 to 8 months, you would do a wash, use an iron remover, possibly clay if you feel there is contamination in the paint (gritty feeling surface) and then possibly polish (to remove swirls and scratches if those bother you) and reapply a fresh coat. It's that simple.

      To answer your question, it really depends on multiple factors so it's not a simple answer. It depends on your experience level, how bad the paint is (does it need paint correction?) among other things. On average, a typical wash, chemical decon, clay, paint prep spray and applying the coating will take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. If you need machine polishing, add a few more hours to the mix. Again, it will vary for every different person.
      But applying the spray on its own only takes a few minutes, as it's a spray on, wipe off, bingo done.

      Claying won't remove that unfortunately. To remove durable coatings like that the only way, especially if it has already had days to cure, is machine polishing.
      As mentioned in the video and in Gyeon's own videos, it's important to be VERY careful to spray in a folded microfiber towel, AWAY from the vehicle. That avoids any overspray issues.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends how long the coating has been applied. If it's getting close to the two years durability claim, then yes you have to restart all the steps: wash, decon, machine polishing, IPA, reapply two coats. If it has only been 6 months, you could perhaps just wash the car, iron remover, then IPA wipe with CarPro Eraser, then apply a topper like CarPro Gliss. Hi Pan, Great videos! Greatly appreciate the steps you walk us through to coat a car. Is Can Coat similar to Xpel Ceramic Boost? I have a brand new Lexus that had PPF installed on parts of it and the installer also applied Xpel Ceramic Boost over the entire car, PPF and paint. I was planning to apply Gtechniq CSL to the Paint and HALO to the PPF but now am not sure what the best process would be to remove the Xpel Ceramic Boost before applying Gtechniq. I have been told to use everything from a 70% IPA mixture, Xpel PPF Cleaner, CarPro Reset to polishing the entire car. If need be I could do a light polishing of the paint maybe using the Primer you used as well as PPF Renew to prep the PPF. Do you have any experience with Cermaic Boost and what would be your recommendations?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't have experience with XPEL Ceramic Boost, but from what I hear, it's nowhere near the durability or performance of Gyeon CanCoat EVO. XPEL Boost seems to be a light ceramic spray. CanCoat EVO is the highest performing spray coating out there. After that, the next step is a true coating in a glass bottle.
      CanCoat EVO is the new version of CanCoat, and has double the durability. So instead of 4-6 months like the original formula, the EVO version now boasts 10-12 months durability.
      But be careful with XPEL PPF, as I heard that if you use any other protection except from XPEL it might void your warranty. So check with your PPF installer first.
      Second, the only way to ensure 100% removal of any previous protection is by machine polishing.

    Hello pan. Really enjoy your video. I do have a question. After doing a paint correction an getting car prep before put on gyeon ceramic liquid coating. When it comes time to do it again in 8 months or so. Does the same process have to be done all over again. Because if keep doing a paint correction over an over. You are taking layers of clear coat off correct. So what do I do. Thx an have a good day

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You only do paint correction when your paint needs it, meaning if you see lots of swirls, scratches or oxidation. You want to preserve as much clear coat as possible. If you wash and dry your car with safe washing methods you shouldn’t need machine polishing. I polished my car only once since I bought it new over two years ago.
      So if your paint is in good condition 6 to 8 months later, you can simply wash, use an iron remover for decon, qui paint prep and then reapply a fresh coat of Can Coat.

    Hello Pan from Australia ;) I would like to ask if you could answer a question about Gyeon can coat. I have just put can coat on my car Tuesday evening 23/3/2I, I initially wanted to do 2 coats but run out of time. So can I put on a 2nd coat and when would that be now be possible given the wait time before it can be washed and hit with Gyeon prep again? Many thanks.

P.S I just went out to look at the car and it's even better looking again super glossy wow..

    Hey Pan, nice tutorial. I have a question. If I were claying and my clay bar gets very dirty when I still don’t finish the process, would you recommend using another bar? or using the same is okay? I’m not quite sure how much they can be used and re-used…

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using a claybar, you can refold it to expose a fresh surface when it gets too dirty (but if you drop it on the floor, you have to throw it in the garbage though).
      A claybar is typically good for 6 to 8 cars depending on how nasty the contamination is.
      I made a video explaining the differences between a claybar, clay towel and clay mitt here: th-cam.com/video/y4UUHeF4nq8/w-d-xo.html

    Hello Pan. Can you recommend me any iron remover to be used Over permanent ceramic coating?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much any iron remover will do. Ceramic coatings have the highest chemical resistance. CarPro IronX, Gyeon Iron, Optimum Ferrex, P&S Iron Buster, Gtechniq Iron Remover, etc.
      Pretty much all coatings brands have iron removers and they’re all safe to use on coated cars. It’s actually recommended to use an iron remover on a ceramic coated car every 3-4 months.

    If I want the best results with a 2 year old car, should I first use Gyeon Polish and then finish off with Gyeon Primer?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends how much defects are in your paint and also if you have any previous protection that needs to be removed.
      If you have deep scratches and swirls, you will likely have to start with a compound first, and then move to a polish.
      If you only have light scratches, perhaps only a polish is needed.

    hey pan, I am almost ready to detail my cars, however I have one question... I'm going to stick with Meguiar's compound and polish before applying a ceramic coating spray, my car def has a lot more swirls and damage than the car you're working with in this video. will I be okay? or do i need the a primer? D: also just want to confirm, you only rinsed and dried the vehicle after the clay bar, i dont need to soap wash it, then hit it with the compound and polish?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your car has more swirls and scratches, the only difference is you’ll spend more time polishing.
      After the clay bar, you simply rinse and dry the vehicle. No need to rewash. You move onto machine polishing.
      After you are done with your final polish, don’t forget to use a paint prep spray like Gyeon Prep to remove polishing oils. This is crucial before applying any ceramic based protection to ensure a proper bond to the clear coat.

    Hi Pan! Big fan! Had a question..I'm going to put gyeon syncro on a 1 year old car and not do a polish (I suck at it and I can't seem to remove swirl marks). After iron decon (no clay), should I do a wipe down with gyeon prep or something similar and then do syncro? Thanks!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ouf. You have to make sure there isn’t any protection on the paint before applying a coating. If there’s a wax, sealant or old coating, the ONLY way to ensure 100% removal of a previous coating is by machine polishing.
      If you’re sure there’s NO PROTECTION on the paint (there’s zero water beading), then yes you could wash the car, use an iron remover, then clay the paint if it feels rough or contaminated, then use Gyeon Prep, and then apply Syncro.
      Follow the instructions that are included!

      @@PanTheOrganizer thank you. Ok so there is currently protection on the paint. It rained today and it's beading :(
      I just bought the car pre-owned from the dealership...lexus rx350 2023. So I'll use clay scrubber and will polish it. But I'm so scared I'll add more swirls to the paint. I have a porter DA polisher. What color foam pad would you recommend..orange? Paint seems like it's in good shape. And how do I make sure I'm not adding swirls to the paint? Thank you so much for your time! 😊

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you do things right, you won't add more swirls. Quite the opposite. You'll be removing defects, and improving gloss A LOT. The best way to increase the gloss is by paint correction. The protection applied afterwards is just a little more boost in gloss, but the majority of measurable increases in gloss units (by a gloss meter) is always with paint correction (machine polishing).
      See my simple tutorial on paint correction for beginners here: th-cam.com/video/ustTEVGMOTI/w-d-xo.html
