Is there a minimal I can say or should I say it all “?
@@sarahvincerivera1812 you're young and if you've had a consistent record of being clean and you're already in a related job then you shouldn't have much issue Just stay clean the next two years and show good character, develop good will with people and you should be fine, I think
I'm 33 and will be applying for SPD next year! I want to help end the stigma and make people realize not all cops are bad! I want to be that Law Enforcement officer that protects, even children. After growing up in the system I was always told I would never amount to anything by Social workers, adoptive parent and peers! I have been in Security for almost 5 years and now it's time to go up in my career!
Yes the process is long. But that’s why you ALWAYS make sure to apply to more then one. If department A wants to take their sweet ass time that’s fine. Department B you could be already at the medical screening. Department C you could already be in the academy… Never just apply to one department. Some departments will drag you along (I’ve seen guys wait years). Don’t waste your time. Apply to multiple and make sure you let the other knows and sure sometime they don’t like that but that’s not your problem if they want you that bad they’ll hurry the process along. Otherwise keep it moving. This is what we were taught in the academy and it worked for me and everyone I knew.
Thanks for that, I have said this in multiple videos. Apply to multiple departments, even look at widening your geographic search area. Getting a foot in the door is the key to ending up where you want to be. Good luck and stay safe.

What I suggest you do is skip to questions that you know you can answer quickly. Since it is a timed exam it makes sense to use your time productively. Just make sure that when you skip you are bubbling in the right questions. This helped me pass it. Studying can only do so much, you know what is on the test so you have an advantage.
In this day and age if you don’t have a criminal record your hired. Departments have a hard time getting applicants because most departments don’t provide pensions or retirement healthcare! I would try to find out if the department is young or if many are retiring soon. If it’s a young department you may be on midnights for 20 years.
I went to my current job in 2014 and wore a suit and tie. My 80-year old dad told me to. I still remember my colleagues thinking that was over the top. But it left an impression. The first thing my future boss saw was someone who gave enough of a damn to put a suit and tie on.
California, the hiring process is almost two years long...PT test, Written test, Polygraph and voice analysis, panel interview, background, psych (both written and interview) health exam, Chief's final interview.
Question can a new chief of police in Texas assign a sgt to be a command officer and oversee other sgts. Promote him on a salary pay without testing for this position? This new chief is also changing policy with memos in order to have an officer be eligible to apply for a position that was favorable for that officer who didn’t originally meet qualifications; bypassing other qualified officers for that position? There is a chief, 2 LT’s and 5 sgt’s. It’s a small department. This new chief has used the word promoted and has shifted officers to different divisions but most concerning is appointing and Sgt to a higher position without giving anyone equal opportunity.
Did 15 yrs on the job and left after all the civil unrest. I wish I left sooner, I transitioned into corporate investigation & compliance then ended up in cybersecurity.
Thanks for your 15 years. I left for medical reasons after 21 years in 2018, before things got way insane. I appreciate all the officers on the road now and all of those going into the field.

Every police and sheriff department in the state of Texas is hiring, smaller departments will not take that long to get you on the streets working, the bigger departments will take a longer time to put you through a background check . But they shouldn’t take to long due to most of them are begging for help.

@ inpursuit…360 I have a question probably not only for me but some people out there like me that was assigned that I have dyslexia, how and would that infect my opportunity to become a cop even though we have technology to be able to help with auto correction which I use for day-to-day basis. Loved the video it helped a lot and actually made me feel more confident. 💯👍
Dyslexia will not be an automatic dis qualifier. Be up front with them if it comes up, maybe work it into one of the interview answers and explain how you have found ways to overcome this and be successful in other things. Think you will be good to go, good luck.

All of the LE interview questions are similar, not the same, but similar. There is a mindset they are all looking for and they are all very picky. Good luck.
My dream job is still to become a Police Officer, but I started my career as a Wildland Firefighter. And idk now since I put so much work into my current career and I just turned 30, but feel like my dream job is shrinking by day maybe a change, but also really not wanting to start from being a rookie again, but we’ll see what God points my life too.
I’m on the same boat. 10 years into a career at my Sheriff’s dept. Started at 21… have seniority.. have hit most of my raises both from the state and union… been debating if I should go state police but now that I’m 30 I don’t want to restart my seniority 🥹
Oh my God! I thought I was not going to be nervous but now the reality is hitting me. I am currently in the background investigation process for Mesa Police and I am nervous. I want this so badly.
This is great. Thank you for that. I've been thinking/wanting to join LE since college. I'm currently in a really good office job, making really good $$, but I'm thinking of dropping it for the LE in Florida. It's worth it, right? ......right?
It's a calling. No one goes into law enforcement to get rich. Federal guys make some decent money. But it really isn't about the dollars if it is what you are meant to do. Is it worth it, that is up to each person. I wouldn't have traded my time for anything, but that is just me. Good luck.
I want to become a deputy in the county I live in but I was wondering if I could even become an officer. I was discharged from the military with a general (under honorable conditions) for being overweight. I just don’t want to waste my time and money going through schooling and background checks
My question as someone who’s considering joining the Australian Federal Police, if you have military experience then joining the police Force, you’re MP or just a soldier, Sailor and airmen etc? Obviously need to be Honourable discharged
Wanted to ask. What examples can you give me when they ask you what are your strengths & weaknesses??? Have a sponsorship interview. Any ADVICE WILL HELP!!! doing some home work/ research on it
For strength you can say things like you’re a great critical thinker and good at improvising things. For weaknesses you can say something along the lines like I have struggled with balancing life and work but I have been taking everything one day at a time and I am actively working on that even as I tell you this now.
Ease up on making people feel nervous and uncomfortable at alot of these Department interviews. Just be thankful that alot of these future Cadets really will make great Police Officers in these Departments that probably are 300 to 800 Officers short already.
Interesting, first time someone has said I am making people nervous. The goal in all my videos is to reduce stress and let everyone have an idea of what to expect and how to prepare. I will pay attention to the tone in the future, all critiques are welcome here.
No, not dumb at all. Some states/jurisdictions make you get certified first. Or, they work 50/50, some people do it on there own and some the departments will sponsor/pay for you. Then, there are some that will not allow you to self sponsor. Check the state/jurisdiction where you want to apply.
Depends on the State, and then the County/city you want to apply to. Some States allow ‘Self sponsorship” for aspiring Officers, while others require you to apply to a local agency/department/office, and should they want to hire you, sponsor you and send you to the academy. Usually in such cases you either need to attend a university in criminal justice/law enforcement or enroll in citizen volunteer/reserve programs in your local law enforcement agency.
The time can vary, depends on the size of the department, how many investigators they have dedicated to the backgrounds and how many candidates they are looking into. Hang in there and keep your options open. Good luck.
Been looking into a career in law enforcement for years now….. I was a resident then, I am now a citizen but now I’m hesitant since in my young days I did do ilegal substances such a cocaine and ecstasy haven’t touch those anymore since I’m much older now and have a family but in your experience would be that be an automatic DQ? I’ve always been and stayed in great physical shape and never been arrested or in trouble with the law.
I would say don’t mention specifics unless you are asked directly ‘have you ever….?” And always answer in the Past tense. ‘in my youth I experimented with….” And ‘Since my youth I have never touched any illicit or mind altering substances. I don’t even drink, as I don’t like to cloud my judgement.” Things of that nature. Make it clear that you have long since learned from the mistakes of your past, and that you have been clean for your adult life.
I'm currently waiting for the MC results. My big concern is the interview, because english is my second language and I'm not 100% fluid... sometimes I can't express my thoughts totally. Can you give me an advice regarding this problem?

Please please please take your time everyone take your time answering and Intaking the questions. I rushed and I didn’t waiver even when given opportunity to elaborate I still didn’t take the hint be compassionate in your answers and be willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. I was told I was too “RoboCop” and I needed to be prepared to give people warnings not tickets. Please if given scenario remember as an officer you’re there to help

Have a interview on Tuesday! This helped so much 🙏🏾
So how did it go. Were there any questions that caught you off guard that you would like to share? Best of luck.
Not going towards law enforcement, but this did gave me an idea what to say during an interview especially in "tell me about you". Gave me a different insight, thanks.
Great advice thank you very much!
Where was this video 10 yrs ago?! The chair I was sitting in was damp from sweat when I was done with my interview. All worked out though. Thanks
Got an interview with with an oral board in the morning. Beyond nervous!!
Hope all went well, be sure to come back and share with us.
How did it go?
How did it go?
Thanks for all your videos; I'm in the process of becoming a dispatcher, not police officer, but I'm still going through the same process, so it helps!
I have my Oral board tomorrow so I really appreciate this video 😎
I got 68.75/70 scores for the police interview. The reason was my answers were to short when it comes to situation questions. The Sergeant who talk with me offer me to apply for the next recruitment cycle since I already have the passing scores of the physical and writing test.
This video help me alot about the requirement that I have to fulfill for each category of questions.
Thank you for the video!! I'm in the process of becoming a police officer right now and this really helped!!
Very helpful video thank you
I am going for my one day testing in a little over a month, and i will be coming back to this video so i can remember to keep these tips in mind
You should be charging for all this valuable information, hopefully it helps me! Currently in the background investigation
Thank you!
this is very helpful and I'm in the process of joining. thank you
This truly helped me have more confidence in myself and in my experiences. Thank you sir.
Appreciate the feedback, believe in yourself and keep pushing forward. Good luck.
Thank u for your guideline
As a captain (retired ‘97) I sat on a lot of interview panels. Some of the responses we got left me wondering what rock some of the applicants crawled out from.
Hey I had a question mabye you can help me out, I’m currently a correction officer in Colorado 19yo so I have to do two years before I could go post but I had prior drug usage when I was younger but am now clean will this possibly not get me hired? Is there a minimal I can say or should I say it all “?
@@sarahvincerivera1812dont say it at all especially if you are 100% clean
hey captain,,,, u say that but u dont mention/explain anything. u decided to crawl under a rock??? lol
@@sarahvincerivera1812 you're young and if you've had a consistent record of being clean and you're already in a related job then you shouldn't have much issue
Just stay clean the next two years and show good character, develop good will with people and you should be fine, I think
The PD in my City advertised they needed people so bad only to get there and find a waiting list! that can be 2yrs long
Yes the process is long.
Interesting
Great video.
Very informative.
Awesome! Great video
Thank you! Cheers!
The Eugene PD literally said not to bring a note pad to the interview 😂
Thank you so much for your help.
No worries!
Great video!! Thank you
If all goes well I’ll have my oral board in 2 weeks!
Thank you for your videos. I couldnt ask for a better mentor
I appreciate the kind words. Let me know if there are any specific topics I can cover for you.
@@InPursuit360 i finished my PST (Entrance Exam) and i got a 69.09%. I needed a 70.0%. I have no choice but to wait 90 days (June 2023) till my next available testing date. What else can i do except study?
What I suggest you do is skip to questions that you know you can answer quickly. Since it is a timed exam it makes sense to use your time productively. Just make sure that when you skip you are bubbling in the right questions. This helped me pass it. Studying can only do so much, you know what is on the test so you have an advantage.
Thank you.. hope I do good
Your videos helped me get hired; thanks.
In this day and age if you don’t have a criminal record your hired. Departments have a hard time getting applicants because most departments don’t provide pensions or retirement healthcare! I would try to find out if the department is young or if many are retiring soon. If it’s a young department you may be on midnights for 20 years.
What kind of questions are asked on the polygraph/ psychological parts? Appreciate it!
Have to come up with a video on that one, watch for it soon.
Thank You Sir
I literally just took mines today and I was super nervous but I was on point with the answers think I did good😅
How did you do?
I appreciate the tips thank you sir
Thanks for watching, let me know how your search is going. Good luck.
I have my interview on march 18 thank you sir !
I have my interview today. Fingers crossed
i've always thought it's ridiculous to put you in front of 9 people or whatever. it just makes it more confusing and stressful on the officer.
Thank you!
Great video !
Appreciate the comments. Be safe
Stellar content 💥
I went to my current job in 2014 and wore a suit and tie. My 80-year old dad told me to. I still remember my colleagues thinking that was over the top. But it left an impression. The first thing my future boss saw was someone who gave enough of a damn to put a suit and tie on.
California, the hiring process is almost two years long...PT test, Written test, Polygraph and voice analysis, panel interview, background, psych (both written and interview) health exam, Chief's final interview.
Have my test on the 4th of April ! Wish me luck
@@sohailllxx7744 what questions they ask ?
Great video man!!!
@@InPursuit360 It is tough to be on the street today and I genuinely feel sorry for anyone going into LE at the local & state level. But, I tell you it's very hard to turn it off sometimes, so occasionally I listen to the scanner app just to get a little taste of the action...🤣🤣🤣.
Every police and sheriff department in the state of Texas is hiring, smaller departments will not take that long to get you on the streets working, the bigger departments will take a longer time to put you through a background check . But they shouldn’t take to long due to most of them are begging for help.
pursuit 360 can (armed) policeman class be combined with the other classes like terrorist, soldier, shooter, hunter, militia, gang member, mercenary, and gunny into one class?
I think you should relax and do the very best you can and stay cool because the Army sergeant board is similar

I have a question probably not only for me but some people out there like me that was assigned that I have dyslexia, how and would that infect my opportunity to become a cop even though we have technology to be able to help with auto correction which I use for day-to-day basis.
Thank you, good sir, for #1 your service and #2 making this video 👏🏻 I just applied for a FWC Certified Officer position and I've been told their interview process is brutal 😵💫😵😵💫 Your video is sure to help me 🎉 Thank you once again.

In my adult years, I worked as a Buser and barback. I was also an instructor at a martial arts studio
Hey that was me too
I’m thinking about being a trooper do you think this is similar to their interview process?
All of the LE interview questions are similar, not the same, but similar. There is a mindset they are all looking for and they are all very picky. Good luck.
A lot of departments don’t use the poly anymore
My dream job is still to become a Police Officer, but I started my career as a Wildland Firefighter. And idk now since I put so much work into my current career and I just turned 30, but feel like my dream job is shrinking by day maybe a change, but also really not wanting to start from being a rookie again, but we’ll see what God points my life too.
I’m on the same boat. 10 years into a career at my Sheriff’s dept. Started at 21… have seniority.. have hit most of my raises both from the state and union… been debating if I should go state police but now that I’m 30 I don’t want to restart my seniority 🥹

Well, I'm in 11 minutes and haven't heard a question yet. This is about the op.
Oh my God! I thought I was not going to be nervous but now the reality is hitting me. I am currently in the background investigation process for Mesa Police and I am nervous. I want this so badly.
How’s the process going? I’m currently in the background process for Phoenix.
Good luck.
Do you offer consultations or mock interview sessions? I will gladly pay for one.
At one time I had something set up on Patreon. We can probably arrange for something.
I'm interested as well please

I want to become a deputy in the county I live in but I was wondering if I could even become an officer. I was discharged from the military with a general (under honorable conditions) for being overweight. I just don’t want to waste my time and money going through schooling and background checks
This was vary helpful information

Going to go through this very soon with Cobb county police department thank you for the advice 👮♂️👍
can i say experiences that i have had and things i went trough when i was a security guard? and conflicts and solutions i did?
Absolutely, any and all work experience is good. Private security is not looked down on like it has in the past. Good luck.
Is there an email to send you specific questions in regards to becoming or applying to a police officer ?
Inpursuit059@gmail.com
I don’t even have to do a interview lol
I pay attention to details when problem solving
Ease up on making people feel nervous and uncomfortable at alot of these Department interviews. Just be thankful that alot of these future Cadets really will make great Police Officers in these Departments that probably are 300 to 800 Officers short already.
Interesting, first time someone has said I am making people nervous. The goal in all my videos is to reduce stress and let everyone have an idea of what to expect and how to prepare. I will pay attention to the tone in the future, all critiques are welcome here.

How did it go?
@@iibreezeli8799 got the polygraph test tomorrow 👍🏼
Stafford County VA?
I probably sound dumb but do you have to find a academy first then apply somewhere or it the other way around?
No, not dumb at all. Some states/jurisdictions make you get certified first. Or, they work 50/50, some people do it on there own and some the departments will sponsor/pay for you. Then, there are some that will not allow you to self sponsor. Check the state/jurisdiction where you want to apply.
@@InPursuit360 Thanks for answering my question. Honestly very helpful👍
Depends on the State, and then the County/city you want to apply to.
Some States allow ‘Self sponsorship” for aspiring Officers, while others require you to apply to a local agency/department/office, and should they want to hire you, sponsor you and send you to the academy.
Usually in such cases you either need to attend a university in criminal justice/law enforcement or enroll in citizen volunteer/reserve programs in your local law enforcement agency.
i just got done earlier today and this pops up wowww lol
I am currently in the background investigation stage so anyone know how long that takes
The time can vary, depends on the size of the department, how many investigators they have dedicated to the backgrounds and how many candidates they are looking into. Hang in there and keep your options open. Good luck.
@@InPursuit360 yes sir I’m keeping options open
Been looking into a career in law enforcement for years now….. I was a resident then, I am now a citizen but now I’m hesitant since in my young days I did do ilegal substances such a cocaine and ecstasy haven’t touch those anymore since I’m much older now and have a family but in your experience would be that be an automatic DQ? I’ve always been and stayed in great physical shape and never been arrested or in trouble with the law.
I would say don’t mention specifics unless you are asked directly ‘have you ever….?”
And always answer in the Past tense.
If it’s been 5 or 10 years you’re in!
Buddy of mine was walking in the doors of the academy in 2 months from applying.
Sometimes they go faster, but usually is not the case.
@@InPursuit360 For myself, after applying for BP, it took my 11 months to get to academy but this was during covid times.
