Where do you see yourself within this organization? 5. What made you choose this Sheriffs office? 6. Are you prepared to take a military-style Police boot camp? They will be yelling and screaming at you and you may get punished for others doing something wrong. 7. What is the biggest obstacle in your life and how did you overcome it. 8. What 1 person from all your jobs do you consider the best leader you have had and why. 9. Explain your work ethic. 10.Why should we chose you? 11. Is there anything you would like to add to the table. My panel was in front of 7 High ranked Sheriff Deputies and 2 HR personnel. The key is to be confident with all your answers and show off the real you!

I just did my interview. It was a 1 on 1 with a Sergeant. And I was placed on the eligibility list. Mixed feelings about it. But I understand I did meet the qualifications but there were other candidates who did better
Passed mine the other day. Was super nervous and they called me out on it. It's odd for the sheriff to tell you to relax a bit and start cracking jokes. After I finally realed a bit I get them to laughing and it went smooth from there. I have a PT test this week and if I pass that I go to academy in May. Pushups kill me but I have to get through it.
Always good if you get a chuckle out of them. Nice work! Keep it up. Do push-ups till failure then again and again to failure, just not a few days before the PAT lol, but that’s a great way to build them up
About 3-4 years ago I applied for a police department after getting out of the army and I passed the PT test , written test , but failed the oral interview panel . They never told me why but I seem to have made lots of mistakes and I believe I was unsure of myself and obviously nervous . I’ve been working in corrections the last 4 years but am seriously considering chasing this dream still as I kinda gave up as soon as I failed and am unhappy with my job now .
@ItsGEO- It is. Violating peoples rights isn't part of my job description. I'm not part of a standing army the founders warned about. You are so in the dark and probably in the closet

I have my oral interview coming up on Friday. I am extremely nervous. I can’t stress enough how glad I am that I found this video. This is exactly the kinda of info I needed to be a bit more confident. Thank you!
The panel requires interviewees to talk about the values of their Organization in real life scenarios using the STAR or CARR technique. How many scenarios would they require for each values ? For Australian Police , thank you ,
Passed the polygraph earlier this week and I have my board interview tomorrow. Kind of nervous but if they push me through then I only have the background check left.
Question! Great video by the way! So if I were to say “ yes “ to writing a family member a ticket makes me look bad? The answer I planned on answering with would be “ yes “
This is a test of honesty, so answer honestly and back it up with the reason why. No wrong answer her really but they don’t want you to give an answer you think they want.
Just ran across this video im gonna study this video til my oral board interview for my local county to join their certified COs since im already certified through the state hopefully that helps and i pass the interview!!
It threw me off a bit about the part of writing your family member a ticket? That seemed kind of strange to say no.. wouldn’t that be being bias because it’s your mom? I just am skeptical about that answer.
It’s an honesty question. You have discretion and don’t have to write everyone a ticket. Even if you don’t like your mother you probably wouldn’t write her the ticket. Just answer honestly and you’ll be fine
I have a zoom panel interview tomorrow and I’m struggling about shaving my beard right now. Planned on trimming it low but then watched this video. lol
What are things to do when turned down by agencies for prior drug use? They didn’t say that was the reason for not moving me forward but I’m assuming that’s why. It’s been 10 years since last usage. During that time I’ve turned my life around, joined the Air Force, did a contract and now doing an ART position in reserves. I just wonder why honesty isn’t always best with some departments. Great videos I just watched your whole series!
Don’t give up. A friend of mine finally got picked up after being DQ’d several times from different agencies. Then he spent 13 years as a paramedic and gave it another try & didn’t get DQ’d
Thanks for this video lol I actually used it to think of questions to ask. I just got put on the hiring board for our department. Lol thanks for the help
Very helpful, I had my written psych Tuesday and my oral psych next Tuesday! On the written exam I remember a question regarding “if you’re bored do you find yourself finding things to do to be excited” or somewhere along the lines and I said true which it is, so that part where I want a career of excitement will work well for me as that is consistent with what I put on the test
@@Justthatofficer do I have to study for that test? Or is it basic knowledge ? Cause if so I don’t know what I’ll study i been trying to look online for answers.
Great video, one question for now: Why would I not write my mother a ticket if she was being a hazard to herself and the community that I have given an oath to protect? My initial response was yes, I would write my mother a ticket if she was going 80 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. I would think that’s a school or work zone and that’s insanely dangerous, right? Mind you my mother is about 80 years of age and not a speedster, but poor eyesight, so super dangerous for her to speed. So please help me understand the reasoning by the “no” to giving her a ticket. Also, isn’t that a felony?
Definitely not a felony. It’s an honesty question as most people wouldn’t write their own mother a ticket unless they disliked her for some reason. If it was something extremely dangerous, well that can change the situation. They are looking for honesty here not the answer you think they want to hear. In the end yes and no are both correct as long as you have good reason to back up each answer.
You should absolutely right your mom or anyone else a ticket for going 80 in a 25. If you say no that shows your bias. 80 in a 25 is extremely reckless and could easily result in the death of a bystander.
Bias is negated due to the allowance of discretion by police. I’m not a police officer, I am a prosecutor but if I choose to write you a ticket for one thing and let 25 other people go for the same thing that you did it is 100% legal and I do not have to explain why I they did it. I was a prosecutor when I started doing this for a Municiple Court and during July 4 one year a single person received a fireworks ticket as about 400 other people were let go. This guy got the ticket because he was an @$$hole and was mouthy to the officer . He paid for a $700 lawyer to drop the $500 ticket and fight in court and he still lost. Determining “bias” is for the courts , not for your opinion being a member of the public.

Thank you! And thanks for sharing your questions for others. Good work!
Could you please elaborate on why the answer is always no regarding writing mum a ticket even if she was excessively speeding?
Thanks
Nice work! Keep it up. Do push-ups till failure then again and again to failure, just not a few days before the PAT lol, but that’s a great way to build them up
Any updates
About 3-4 years ago I applied for a police department after getting out of the army and I passed the PT test , written test , but failed the oral interview panel . They never told me why but I seem to have made lots of mistakes and I believe I was unsure of myself and obviously nervous . I’ve been working in corrections the last 4 years but am seriously considering chasing this dream still as I kinda gave up as soon as I failed and am unhappy with my job now .
Go for it dude
Do you really want to be a pig nowadays?
@@StandWatie1862you are saying that like whatever you are is better.
@ItsGEO- It is. Violating peoples rights isn't part of my job description. I'm not part of a standing army the founders warned about. You are so in the dark and probably in the closet
@@StandWatie1862 So, every cop in America violates their citizens rights? It’s that what you are saying?
I have my oral board. Tomorrow at 1:50 pm. I’m 21 and only experience I have is serving in the army national guard since I was 17. I know that’s not law enforcement. but I feel like I can relate some of these stress questions with that experience. Great video btw I appreciate it. Just like to add its virtual as well.
Best of luck man! You certainly can use that experience.
How did you do?
@@user-lv8cv8sv2f It was a weird experience that’s for sure zoom. and there was like 4 chiefs from different towns they never made eye contact once. It was straight to the point which I guess is a good thing. overall was a experience I’m like number 20 on the official list for hillside police department lol. I’m headed back to school to use my gi bill 😂. I might try somewhere else in the future. Thanks for reaching out!

Thank you for this video, I have my interview tomorrow this helped me a lot
Best of luck!
Just ran across this video im gonna study this video til my oral board interview for my local county to join their certified COs since im already certified through the state hopefully that helps and i pass the interview!!

Hey! Did you pass?
How did it go?
NEEDED THIS! Thank you! 😊
@@Justthatofficer honestly doing 80 in a 25 that seems like a ticket no matter who you are. is that right or do I say no for that on the interview
I did my interview a few week back I got an 85%! I'm hoping to be called soon.

Hello, why is the anser for if you would give your mom a ticket a no?????
Very helpful, I had my written psych Tuesday and my oral psych next Tuesday! On the written exam I remember a question regarding “if you’re bored do you find yourself finding things to do to be excited” or somewhere along the lines and I said true which it is, so that part where I want a career of excitement will work well for me as that is consistent with what I put on the test
💯
@@Justthatofficer just a heads up I passed my psych test! Way easier than i expected
@@matthewciprian3201 Great! was it a bunch of repetitive questions? that's what I can remember lol
@@matthewciprian3201hey man how about the board interview?
@@Justthatofficer that makes sense, 80 km/h in a school zone, holy shit mom. 65 in a 50, warning.
@@Justthatofficer I love my mom, just not gonna facilitate being crazy lol
Thank you! Very helpful for my upcoming interview in LE from Belgium. Cheers.
Cheers!
My next one is my background investigation is this week

So answer should be no? For not giving ticket to your mom ?
Also how about the fellow officer ?
Correct you should answer no or have a good reason why you would. Report to immediate supervisor
So can anyone explain why you wouldn’t give your mom a ticket? It doesn’t really make sense, I thought he was joking by saying no but I haven’t seen anyone else say anything about it.
I'm really nervous. I have an interview next week Wednesdays and not sure what kinds of questions they may want. They did give a generalized idea of what questions they maybe going to be asking. Luckily, I have military background, but not sure how far that will go for them to want to pick me.
