    My Socom Tanto has been in my pocket since 1999,,I do not leave home without it.
    154CM titanium nitride blade is still great. This knife has seen it all from salt water soaked countless times to the Everglades to the Rocky mountains, Absolutely awesome.
    My collection resembles yours from para 2 to sebenza to Extrema Ratio, cold steel
    strider, terzuola, essee, randall (14, 18) ZT"s, and of course numerous Microtechs notably a very cool Stitch. Socom" is a MUST HAVE"

    I have this same knife with a different blade shape, it's great and it's my favorite blade size but I wouldn't use it on opening cardboard boxes because any blade can do that well but it dulls a sharp edge pretty fast, faster than you might think. Box cutter are the best for a reason, they don't bite into the box very far, so everything is safe inside, and that razor can be replace for almost nothing.
    Also, even though you say you won't be sharpening it, make sure you do strop it with leather pretty often to keep that super sharp edge as long as possible, once it starts to fold over, it becomes dull and impossible to bring back just by stropping. The Work Sharp with the knife accessory is great with the leather on it for stopping on the slowest speed and some good polish. It's all you need to bring that edge back fast. Most factories will sharpen for free forever but I personally hate dealing with customer service at Microtech, they really don't give a crap about their customers, so I stay away from that vibe they have there.

    Great review. I've looked at this knife before, and again recently. I didn't think I'd like it, but after watching your review, it's already growing on me and would be something I would consider getting. I think it would only appeal to me more over time. Thanks for drawing more attention to it. Another one I'm considering, based on your review, is the Protech Malibu. The only thing I'm not crazy about are aluminum handles. I'm really digging anything with Micarta scales.

    I have some pocket knives from notable brands, such as Chris Reeve, Viper, Benchmade, Hogue, We, Protech, Zero Tolerance and others of slightly lower quality. For me, with the exception of the CR-Sebenza 31, my Microtech Socom Elite stands out for its robustness and quality, which is much superior...

  • @trussmonkey5910
    @trussmonkey5910 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love it except the tip down pocket clip is a deal breaker. For me personally I strongly prefer tip up carry so when you pull it out of your pocket it is orientated correctly in the hand.

    • @woodentulike2no
      @woodentulike2no 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I used to think that way too and I have over 100 tactical style knives that are tip up but I purchased one of these just to try it out and honestly this knife works perfectly as a tip down it becomes so natural to draw it open I mean draw it out of your pocket and open it so smoothly becomes very easy and I've overcome my fear of tip down knives

  • @EMFSafetyZone
    @EMFSafetyZone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know why I am one of the only ones pointing things like this out and noticing things that nobody is mentioning? Everyone raves about this knife. I just got one. I cannot stand the deployment. It literally sucks and you have to practice. The handle has so little real estate, especially at the bottom where it needs more width, that you have to get used to really keeping your fingers away from the blade so you are not accidentally holding back deployment with an edge of your finger. I find the knife way too 'petite' for a 4" blade. This never happens on the Spyderco Para 2 or Military models, where opening is as smooth as butter and there is more real estate on the handles so you don't even think about where your fingers are. I find the handle on this knife to be way too small, too petite, and not beefy or wide enough, especially at the bottom. Sure it is well made. Once you get used to opening the knife the flipping action is great. All I know is after owning and handling Medfords, Hobacks, Microtech and other classics, I just keep going back to my Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 for EDC!
