    This is a real, real review, I felt every km of that journey and it was a painful watch, just seeing how a fit, fettled, girl can end up standing in the peds after a relatively short distance and gritting through the last stages of the journey sold it to me- this is not a bike to get. Well done, Eilis this is how a bike should be evaluated, not just when it is fresh and charged. Like the skirt, but surely not for cycling?

    What a honest review. That hill on Latchmere Road is literally near where I work, I cycle up and down that hill 5-6 times a week. Cycling down the hill is so much fun whereas cycling up the hill takes so much effort with a non electric bike and this is why I am looking to buy an e-bike.

    Really enjoyed the video (as usual), thank you. I’ve just bought an Estarli on the strength of your review and recommendation so interesting for you to review a bike you were less sure about. Seeing as you’ve ended up recommending it, perhaps you could tell us about the ones you haven’t recommended (without necessarily naming them, of course). That would reassure us that your reviews are genuine and not based on potential sales or other criteria.

    Does seem like there are a lot of other bikes out there that fold, have better range and are cheaper to buy. I have an ADO. Its not light but the range is far better and the 7 speed makes it easy without the battery.

    Single speed is great for e bikes since I find that gears are not useful when the e bike does most of the work for you.
    Also it's a folding bike. Just take it on public transport when the batteries dies

    Tilt 500e from Decathlon still gets my vote.
    Relatively cheap(£££ not ££££), gears, folds and multi level assit for about 12 miles or so of assisted range. Is kinda heavy and a bit cumbersome sometimes but for bang for buck its defo worth a look!

    😊 thank you. great review. I do like the idea of a belt drive and single drive but the electric motor has to be up to it and the engineering light .... as I live in the countryside, I think I'd be interested in one of the off-road potential two wheel drive bikes. have you done any reviews on those?

    I came here to check out the bike but for some reason I'm enamored by this woman. I can't tell if it is the accent, mannerism, style...overall she is such a good example of her species. As for the bike, I am seriously considering buying one. Where I live, Los Angeles(Santa Monica), there aren't as many occasions to ride it but I find the price range and style compelling enough especially in comparison to the GoCycle.

    Enjoyed the video, thanks. I think a 3 speed hub would have really helped. You were certainly struggling near the end of your journey. I like that the seat overhangs, so should be some spring in it. I'd struggle with 20 kg because of my bad wrists.

    For me personally, its a total non starter without gears and with that poor range.
    But as you said, its all about compromise, and this bike will definitely suit some people.
    It looks pretty cool, and someone who has a 5 mile commute, no big hills, and fairly smooth roads might really like it.
    But I do lots of canal towpaths and rural lanes, with some big hills, so for my type of usage, there are far better options for similar money.
    A big question for me these days is longevity. My ebrompton is still going flawlessly after 3 years, but a couple of cheap ebikes have died on me during that time.
    But even the cheaper bikes cost serious money.
    I think we need to get more info about the build quality and longevity.

    • @Electroheads
      @Electroheads  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's no surprise seeing comments on this video of people liking the sound of it! It just totally depends on what kind of commute you have and what you need your bike for 😁 there's ebikes for all!

    I ride my e-bike on level 3 assistance (level 5 is completely unnecessary and just a waste of energy/range). level 3 gives about 40km of range. I wanted to travel a further distance than usual (close to my estimated range) and wanted to make sure I didn't run out of power, so I experimented with level 2 assistance and to my surprise that not only was it still very usable (I actually felt my legs when peddling) the range increase significantly. There are now times when I drop it to level 2 just to get a bit of workout on my legs without it being a strain. The quoted range on my e-bike is a laughable 70-100km plus (LOL) however I think I could just about reach a range 70km on level 2. So, I think the optimistic range of an e-bike is usually on the minimum level of assistance, it the case of my e-bike 70-100km might be level 2-1, on level 5 it would get a fraction of that.

    For me, I'm looking for an e-bike that doesn't have an exposed chain or belt as that would catch onto clothing, and require more maintenance. The shaft drive in this bike is a unique feature that does that. Other than the way more expensive GoCycle, I'm not sure if we have many other options if we want a hidden drivetrain. Other than the weight, this might otherwise be a good multi-modal bike.

      It’s not the only reason though, easier storage and being able to put into a car boot are also reasons, my Himo ZB20 is 28kg, but I can get it into the boot of my car which is the reason I went for a folding ebike. I think it would be ideal for some people, i.e short range flat'ish commute, who live/work on ground floor with small and limited space to store the bike. You know, perhaps a store owner that can only put a bike behind the counter at the store and has a ground floor flat, can't store the bike outside, and only has a small spot inside... Might also work for some public transit commutes under the right circumstance. I think you should challenge each bike to find it's usage envelope i.e. what it would be good for. That might be just to satisfy yourself that you could ride it to to do A or B if you want/need to, but never do, i.e. a backup transport. This bike might be one of those that you throw in a small space for emergency(petrol shortage, public transit strike, ...). If it could get you to the store/train/... and back in those circumstances then it would do it's job and be worth it...

    In other words, it's a dead loss. Be better off on an aluminium "normal" bicycle
    with a Tiagra group set.
    With an all up weight of 9 kgs. or there abouts.

    More than one major flaw...Heavy, tiny battery, not great on hills, too expensive.

    I think you'd have better luck with a normal bicycle. The torture on your face was so evident. This one's a pass especially wuth no throttle. Thanks for the effort...much appreciated🍺cheers

    Escooters are worst for your knees. Anyone else agree?

    • @ahaveland
      @ahaveland ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely not. Standing or sitting is demanding hardly any effort from knees, unlike cycling against high resistance.

    • @HDsharp

      @@ahaveland standing escooters are horrendous for the knees, better seated. Your knee absorbs all the vibrations from the platform of the scooter while riding. Even scooters with suspension, your knee absorb a lot of movement so your knee internally still need to work. I only got knee pains from standing escooters. You don't have vibration problems while Cycling, except pressure on the knee from exertion. That issue can be reduced by using very low gears. Never had any knee issues while Cycling, I've always ridden mountain bikes with very low gears.

      @@HDsharp YMMV. Anecdotes are not evidence of any general phenomenon.
      My scooter has suspension, and I'm 60 years old - I have no issues with my knees whatsoever, and I alternate between sitting and standing.
      Similarly with my 2kW ebike - it has a thumb throttle so I pedal as much or as little as I like.

    • @HDsharp
      @HDsharp ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ahaveland Thats because you probably do short trips. Perhaps the suspension on your scooter does hepl. But try using a lower spec scooter for long periods. I never had a problem with scooters until i started to do longer trips. Its just common sense the vibrations will eventually cause problems, just like road workers who develope hand issues if they use road jacks too often.

      @@HDsharp That's quite an assumption!
      I do about 500 km a month. I did 150 km at the weekend - 60 km to Leányfalu and back to Budapest, next day Budapest to Nyakas Kő and back via Biatorbágy viaduct (62km), and next day another 30km around Csepel. You can find these places on google maps.
      Just pay attention to what your body tells you and look after it!

    That was the most pathetic "bike lane" I've ever seen. (@5:25) That's not even half-assed. It's complete and utter incompetence. It literally would've been better to have done nothing at all and let her ride on the sidewalk.

    Certainly over priced... this looks and acts like a 800 to 1200 price ebike... theres definitely a style over substance going on here and that style isn't that great either.
