Love this video. I’d love to own this bike but I’m 68 & a lot heavier than I should be. I used to ride my folding bike to work years ago but would love to pick it up again. Might actually do me some good.
My dad loved biking and bought me my first bike complete with training wheels when I was 3. I was a little young so it took me around a full year before the trainers came off and I could balance myself. Kicked off a lifelong love of cycling. Thanks dad, still riding after all these years. ❤
I'm a lifelong road cyclist and for the last 5 years gravel biking. But I'm in my early 70s now and my joints no longer want to do as I'd like them to do. Recently I was at the bike show at the NEC Birmingham and got to looking at some e-bikes. The Estarli caught my eye and whetted my appetite. I didn't need much convincing and have ordered the E20.8 through my local dealer and which should be here in a few weeks. It's one of these decisions one instinctively knows is right. I'll probably upgrade the pedals and maybe the saddle. I'll also consider the range extender because I do like to go further afield. I love your videos Ellis and you should consider coming up to my home city of Edinburgh. A bit like Bath with its cobbled streets and and as it is built on seven hills there are plenty opportunities to try out your power modes. So I've joined the electric revolution and I'm looking forward to many more years of happy cycling.
I'm not going to lie, the appeal of Eilis' videos are 99% Eilis 1% Bike and I ride an electric bike and scooter and watch these videos because of the bikes/scooters but Eilis overwhelming appeal means I would happily watch and listen to her 24/7 talk about literally anything. But even with the other videos I'd say at least 50% of the appeal is the personalities of the presenters. I'm subscribed to a number e-bike TH-cam channels and Electroheads is the only one that I watch every single video. I used to be like that with Fully Charged but my interest in their content has waned a bit probably because electric cars don't do it for me like they use to and I think watching people ride e-bikes/scooters is more fun. Full Disclosure: I don’t actually watch that many Electroheads car reviews for the same reason I drifted away from Fully Charged.
Great video, really enjoyed it. I bought an engwe engine x in October 2023 for £900 with the online discount code. A bit of a bargain to be honest. I've put bmx bar on it and have an extended battery on the rear rack and some quick release pannier bags. Total capacity is now 38ah! And about 64 miles range. I live in a rural area with quite a few inclines and I'm a heavy rider who carries a lot of kit on board. It maybe a folding bike but you wouldn't want to lug this thing onto public transport as out of the box it weighs about 34kg. I also have a kona mtb with 27.5 inch wheels which I fitted a rear hub kit onto which is lot lighter and more for regular commuting. My engine x is for laid back long distance cruising.
Thank you for this video - very informative - I have been one of your subscribers bemoaning the lack of hills in your reviews and you have responded! I have been really struggling with choosing between this eStarli 20.8 Play and the ADO Air 20S and have changed my mind about 3 times. I am a bit heavier than you and was worried about range and hills and this may have just made me change my mind again! Now if you could just do a video comparing these 2 bikes with a hill and range test…..
I would be interested to see how it compares to the ADO Air 20S I now have. I want to know if the 8 gears on the Estarli make a big difference on hills compared to the ADO. I do find my little legs go like the clappers on a single gear belt when at full speed. I am used to a 26 gear standard bike where I can have more speed but with lower leg rotations. Customer service from Electroheads could be better but I do understand they are a small company and just try speaking to ADO directly on the phone. No chance. Electroheads need to work on answering the phone though. Not everything can be done through email and it can get frustrating waiting for a reply.
I bought the e.20 7 because of your review. I love it, thank you for introducing it to us, a friend tried mine and has just bought one too! i do hope the new boost battery is compatible on the 7 version though as my commute does push the limits of the bike, any news on this?

I went with the ADO Air 20S. Really enjoying it. Bit wobbly on dirt tracks (fell off coming down a steep hilly part lol). Not sure if the gears on an ebike like the Estarli would have been much better than the single gear carbon belt on the Air 20S though. Some steep hills can be a bit of a challenge despite it having 52nm. I need to build my confidence and strength though as I have not been on a bike for a few years and got a bit lazy and unfit. An ebike seemed the perfect way to do that and since I got rid of the car getting around on trains was required. Thus I got a folding ebike. My brother has some issues with his bike and we are waiting to see Ham when he gets back from his break. Hopefully you guys can get it sorted.
does it have 52 nm? On the website it says it has 37 nm on the 250W and 42 nm on the 350W version. Still a great bike, like my Air 20 very much, but I agree, steep hills are still a challenge. the one gear doesn't help either. if they ever do a version with mid drive and internal gearing, it'd be perfect.
Thank you for testing in the world outside of London and on real hills. Please make it a regular feature. Great news about the extended battery pack for e20 as distance is a show stopper for me. So yes am now considering. 🚴
Great video and a really nice looking bike but a tad over my currently imaginary budget. Need to compare it with the e20.7 which is on my 'perhaps list;. I'm well passed retirement age and my current hybrid big wheel bike has front suspension which on rougher surfaces helps keep my vital specs on my face! Need suspension!
The ADO Air 20S may suit you then. Cheaper and has everything the Estarli has including 100km distance but is a single gear carbon belt. Not sure if that's a plus or a minus for hills and leg rotations as your legs do tend to turn faster in the high assist.
Have you ever used the folding ebikes from halfords? The Apollo or Carrera? If so what do you think, i am considering the Apollo one as it says it is 16kg which is surprisingly light for an affordable folding electric bike
The e-bike looks really great, even in the different colors that they briefly showed. It's great that you can take it with you anywhere because you can fold it up nicely.
Y’all should check out the Zizzo by Euromini folding bike ebike conversion scene I recently completed a Zizzo Via Swytch conversion . My own conversion is like all switch projects, front wheel, electric motor driven with a PAS. It has turned out very good. TopSpeed 21.3 mph, before conversion 29 pounds after 32 at most. 8:32 However, there is a whole community of individuals who have Read it just about every type of ebike conversion that will work on a folding bike frame.
I think it's time that all manufacturers started building their bikes with universal/interchangeable battery packs and chargers. This would increase the resale value of the bike/scooter and give the consumer more confidence on the longevity in the product. Talking about lifespan of batteries is a tricky one as different people use their bikes/batteries in different capacities. If you look after your battery you can easily get 5 years out of it (with some degradation in range). Ebikes like the Estarli have easily changeable batteries as they are removable
Thank you! I'll keep this in mind 😉 The main difference is whether you need a bike with gears (e20) or not (Air 20). Think about how hilly your terrain is - if there's more hills then I'd go for the e20. Don't forget the code EILIS50 at checkout for £50 off
@@Electroheads thanks for the tip. I was taken by the lighter weight of the ADO, but then that actually more like 18kg rather than the initially advertised 16kg. I did a test ride of an early iteration of the ADO at your offices and liked it. Perhaps I’ll do the same with the Estali - 2kg more is not that much different, but will check the difference in wheel size too….
Great video, and those hills in Bath are steep. If I recall though there is another road to climb the same hill which is steeper still. My 1l petrol car would only climb it in 2nd gear. I can't recall which road it is but I suspect your dad will know! Be good to see how it does with that.
That was such a lovely memory to share and I have one almost word for word too but with my stepdad. Thanks Eilish, I felt the gravity of that memory with you! 🙏
since a couple of days i found this channel and been watching ...and what a lovely woman...her bike reviews are funny, informative and wonderful to look at...just feels like a summer breeze i been watching loads of ebikes reviews lately because i bought the ADO A20+ ( for taking with me in the train and go touring - i live in the Netherlands and go south to the country and from there to belgium or germany) and i have the ENGWE E26...but Ellis is just great to listen to...i would buy anything she says..hahaha
A bike with a torque sensor feels like.... biking (but much easier!). A cadence sensor gives the bike-motor an (bit uncontrolled) on-off feeling. The better brands use a combination of both sensors. A torque sensor isn't be used with a front wheel motor and rarely with a back wheel motor. The only-cadence-sensor-bikes can't have a motor with high torque, and is much cheaper (for the bike brand/builder)
To be honest with you, I have always wanted to ask you for a test on E-bikes climbing up the hill and there we go. Thanks. And now I wonder if you could also do a comparison between none e-bike and e-bike climbing up the hill so that we can see the real difference of how much effort we have to work between none e-bike and e-bike climbing uphill. Will really appreciate it if you can do a video like this. Thanks for the amazing review and test on climbing uphill.
It's a lot easier on an e-bike. That hill at just under 8% for 1.9 km is no beginner hill for an acoustic bike. Whilst it's not difficult for a pro or a half decent amateur your average everyday cyclist would find it very hard work, quite a few would probably have to stop half way up. I know I would and I've been going at hills on a regular basis for around 4 months. I am over 60 though! Don't forget you can turn most long hills into a real brutal climb. If you find 5 mph too easy try 10 mph, If 10 mph is too easy try going up it at 25 mph.
Looks like a great bike. And a good idea of testing bikes outside of big, flat London. Seriously. It may be a bit pricy to do so, but it speaks to where the rest of us live. 👍🏻👏
A battery with a standardised lead/plug, that can be plugged into any bike and located, within reason, anywhere on the bike, is badly needed. Remember the early mobile phone charger mess and how that was solved.
I’m just about to purchase an Estari E28 via the GCI scheme with Electroheads, presume that will be made to order and cadence sensing rather than torque sensing as you mentioned in the vid?
I would certainly hope it can climb hills with these tiny wheels. I was expecting a mid drive motor to truly be able to climb any hill, but it's not so eh.
Shoutout to your dad for being the best ever and teaching you how to ride. I'm sure he's so proud of you to making a career out of such great memories. ❤
Another great review, can’t make my mind up I’m looking too buy 2 bikes I’ve been looking at e20 for a while now great price but now I’ll have to way up if they extra £800 quid is worth it , thanks again ,x
Estarli use a cadence sensor instead of torque I think plus chain gears. Air is torque and carbon belt with single gear. Some steeper hills I have found a bit challenging. I don't know if the Estarli is better at hills or not. A comparison would be good.
so... you were in Bath because viewers claimed that you were too London-centric.... oh... okay.... does that mean if enough of us say that you are too UK/Europe-centric. Will there be a bike-to-Mongolia video coming soon? JUST KIDDING!😻😻😻
Hi.If you want to give your e-bikes a real test then you should come to Exeter which is very undulating and mostly upwards!! And I ride my ADO Air20 all over and where I live has 3 ways to get up but one is impossible but the other 2 I can get up them and I’m & am years old.come down and try 🤣
I think this bike is at least £500 over priced for its range, I have a Himo Z20 Max which was around £900 which gives me a range of around 50 miles in level one assist, my wife has the normal z20 which was £800 and has a range of over 30 miles, they don’t have hydraulic brakes but I can add them for around £100 a set and both bikes were around the same price as one of these.
I loooove the way she caresses the seat post when talking about the battery (13:57) going up and down very gently Mmmmm. It's very educational, and I can't thank you enough.
Think you were a bit mean to that ticket guy. All he was basically telling you was," yeah, just go to the platform and take your chances and ask someone", which you didn't even appear to do anyway. What exactly did you expect he could do?
@@Electroheads Well she can't be working 24/7/365 or even 52 weeks a year turns into burnout plus good to have 2 reviewers as sometimes can have multiple EV launches even on same day in different places. She can't be in two places at same time.
that 50nm torque I really do not belive it.a smaller wheel allow the motor to spin it easier.but the most important is the controler.I have seen ebikes with a fkin 9ah controller....normaly 250w motor need a 17ah maximum controller but some manufactures install smaller controlers because they don t trust their motors............ ..pretty boring to watch ebikes limited to 25km\h but you are really cute and i really really enjoy your voice...but.....lets live a little.....stupid rules are made to be broken!@
typical British answer when you need help on your booking. this is what he means " I DONT KNOW, FIND IT OUT FOR YOURSELF, IF YOU CAN FIT IN THERE YOUR IN LUCK IF NOT I DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU".
Cherry Cherry Lady! I would call this "Demoncracy" bicycle. For the price. It is manufactured for 400, give 400 for profit and distribution. Where 1000 go? My educated guess is : Ukrijna😅 No carbon, no battery, no motor, no suspension. Probably some repainted Chinese stuff. Why do I still like the bike? Hmm, I like cherry..

I’m just about to purchase an Estari E28 via the GCI scheme with Electroheads, presume that will be made to order and cadence sensing rather than torque sensing as you mentioned in the vid?
does the extra extender battery pack fit the 20.7 as well
I would certainly hope it can climb hills with these tiny wheels.
I was expecting a mid drive motor to truly be able to climb any hill, but it's not so eh.
Will the battery extender work with other models of the bikes? I have an e20 which is around a year old. Be handy to know if it works ok that!
Is that a cadence sensor
Just curious how come you don't test full power full sus e bikes like the turbo levo 🤔
Where is the shop ?
We are a force for good. I like that. 😊
Completely understandable. Suspension for specs is critical!
Shoutout to your dad for being the best ever and teaching you how to ride. I'm sure he's so proud of you to making a career out of such great memories. ❤
He is an absolute legend to be fair ☺
Another great review, can’t make my mind up I’m looking too buy 2 bikes I’ve been looking at e20 for a while now great price but now I’ll have to way up if they extra £800 quid is worth it , thanks again ,x
Don't forget to use the code EILIS50 at checkout for £50 off when you make your decision ☺ Let us know how you get on!
I wonder what makes a person want to buy this over the Estarli 20.7 or ADO Air 20. Both are cheaper cost and similar in spec in many respects
Estarli use a cadence sensor instead of torque I think plus chain gears. Air is torque and carbon belt with single gear. Some steeper hills I have found a bit challenging. I don't know if the Estarli is better at hills or not. A comparison would be good.
That part with the ticket guy was weird and Im not sure why that was necessary to keep in an otherwise great review!
Recently found a video of a dad who attached a camera to his 5yo daughters bike. It was a bit similar with the sounds and talking to herself. ;-)
Are those dry-fit stick on jeans? Fair play for wearing that in the summer whilst riding
Great bike.. Unfortunately the prices are crazy!
so... you were in Bath because viewers claimed that you were too London-centric.... oh... okay.... does that mean if enough of us say that you are too UK/Europe-centric. Will there be a bike-to-Mongolia video coming soon? JUST KIDDING!😻😻😻
It would be a DREAM to cycle in Mongolia?!?!? Keep requesting and who knows 😜
I have been riding since 1973 my frist bike called a budgie mi mam would hold for me then went off on my own good memories for me
Hi.If you want to give your e-bikes a real test then you should come to Exeter which is very undulating and mostly upwards!!
ZOOM Hydraulic 4 piston calipers a set £60 ebayUK 😮, its like dropping an ANCHOR ⚓ 🇬🇧🤟
Love the review. I think I could love you easily too!
Fab review! Love it!
Thanks so much!
Love my e20!
I loooove the way she caresses the seat post when talking about the battery (13:57) going up and down very gently Mmmmm. It's very educational, and I can't thank you enough.
Super review!
Is there still a yellow door on The Royal Crescent ?
Peasants ! 😂😂😂
Those folding stems become a nightmare and ruin EVERY ebike they on, pretty soon they get wobbly with no remedy
Think you were a bit mean to that ticket guy. All he was basically telling you was," yeah, just go to the platform and take your chances and ask someone", which you didn't even appear to do anyway. What exactly did you expect he could do?
Im not sure sbout the bike with limited range but the pretty views of Bath beat Londonistan anyday .
You got to see the bikes I build makes the switch look silly and at a great price
The good test might be to do an 8km steep hill that curves in different directions going up to the top.
Any suggestions of where these might be?
Left right left right left right alright 👍
Love your helmet.😊
Real time review of the customer experience 😂
E28 is my pref choice. Have entered comp to win!
Good luck!! It's a great bike
That is crazy Eilis, but always love your videos just want you to see you do more EV videos as well.
Tish is our EV queen! But if she's not able and we get something fun offered to us then I am next in line ☺
@@Electroheads Well she can't be working 24/7/365 or even 52 weeks a year turns into burnout plus good to have 2 reviewers as sometimes can have multiple EV launches even on same day in different places. She can't be in two places at same time.
What is the helmet you’re wearing ? Looks pretty cool , bike looks small for you ,
It's a lumos, the link is in the description! 😉
@@yvescolin6169 thanks kind soul.
@yvescolin6169 doing the good work 🙏
@@Electroheads What does that mean ? Doing what good work you ? Bike ? Helmet? Obviously not me !
I want a bike that is an off-roader and be electic
there is no 'r' in Bath.
04:30 if only the girl had looked at him in disdain - it would be a perfect match for the meme 😏
You must be one fit cookie ❤
Insane price. Buy 2 of some pretty decent bikes for what you get there. Or 1 that doesn't look like a walking stick with wheels.
that 50nm torque I really do not belive it.a smaller wheel allow the motor to spin it easier.but the most important is the controler.I have seen ebikes with a fkin 9ah controller....normaly 250w motor need a 17ah maximum controller but some manufactures install smaller controlers because they don t trust their motors............
..pretty boring to watch ebikes limited to 25km\h but you are really cute and i really really enjoy your voice...but.....lets live a little.....stupid rules are made to be broken!@
Just get a brompton , no train issues and it will last for ever !
🚴. 🚴
I have never seen an episode in which you criticized a bike or...
Its the bollox !!!! Wasnt expecting that my dear thats bad journalism
I don't mind this chick narrating my dream, as I dream in the night.
It's hard to get cyclable trousers with pockets, so sometimes jeans is the only option 😂
@@Electroheads Eilis does just have a calming voice . 🙏🏽 namaste ~_~
typical British answer when you need help on your booking. this is what he means " I DONT KNOW, FIND IT OUT FOR YOURSELF, IF YOU CAN FIT IN THERE YOUR IN LUCK IF NOT I DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR YOU".
You should charge it on the train
I was halfway through a range test 😉
@@Electroheads I meant on the way home cos trains sometimes have power sockets
30k for a bike like this is good.
1850£? 😢
Cherry Cherry Lady!
I would call this "Demoncracy" bicycle. For the price. It is manufactured for 400, give 400 for profit and distribution. Where 1000 go? My educated guess is : Ukrijna😅
No carbon, no battery, no motor, no suspension. Probably some repainted Chinese stuff. Why do I still like the bike? Hmm, I like cherry..
You testing to see how many people will notice using fake bokeh during the intro? Okay, I'm the nerd that saw it.
Sure? 😅
Nationalise rail. Just get it done. Vote Labour and then hassle the hell out of them. Hell, hassle the hell out of them before the election.
No hope as long as that tory boy Starmer is leader of "labour".
We are in dire straights 😤
You’re a bit Bath-centrik on this episode.
😂
What a useless railways person behind the counter at the start of the vid…jeez…😮
Right?! 😂
Funny how Brits pronounce "Schwalbe" (= engl. swallow (bird)). 😆
You pronounce it like 'swallow'?!?
@@Electroheads No. "Schwalbe" means "swallow". It is pronounced "Schwalbè" instead of "Schwalbé". A short "e". Just google "schwalbe pronunciation german" if you're interested. Didn't want to unsettle you! 😚
Any hill? OK.......
It's not really "insane" tho'. Izzit? I fix eBikes for a living and a fair bit of careful (& not so careful) engineering goes into them . . .
test
Your saddle looks way too low
12% is not a fucking “monster hill”
that bike is sooo hot 🥵mmmmmm
