Well, Milo, I started cooking a ton of different foods with important nutrients. After changing my diet to include things like pomegranate, frozen broccoli sprouts, ginger, kale, beans and peas, celery, fruit smoothies etc, I felt my level of energy and passion skyrocket. I started running, as well as doing resistance training. Every day I feel myself regenerating faster. Injuries heal quicker, I'm more inclined to go outside for a hike than to smoke cigarettes or eat fast food. I have three heros: Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Dr. Rhonda Patrick (as of today). I feel that positivity is a key asset to being happy. Her instructions have helped me lead a more progressive life. Find the minute nuances in life which allow you to feel alive. The brain is a very powerful part of the body, and allowing it to thrive on the fence of life and death is important. Live every day as a living person, but don't forget that the reaper will show up some day. Make him fight for his job. I should probably mention that I pulled myself out of one of the heaviest depressions of my life, which was nearly a decade long. I love life, and so should you. I wish you peace.

Rah good summary, but you talk about "Lack of Folic Acid" which is actually a synthetic supplement. What your body lacks is MethylFolate. Google search - Methylfolate is the active and natural form of folate, also known as vitamin B9. When we take folic acid (folic acid is the synthetic form of folate), we rely on Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), a gene and enzyme found throughout the body that converts folic acid to its active form, L-methylfolate.Apr 12, 2018
Drinking my 'beat the RDA in a drink'' smoothie while I watch. Been focusing on exercise and diet since the beginning of this year and lost a good 3.5 stone in 5 months but I've been using some of Rhonda's spinach and kale shakes for a week now and I have to say, I must have been missing something, probably Folic acid as I always struggled with leafy greens, but not anymore, took about 3-4 days but after that point I've had more endurance for lifting and my mood has been much more stable, also started having balance issues which seem to have subsided since doing these shakes. Rest of my diet is steamed veg salmon, beef, generally in steak format, chicken, low-fat high protein yogurt/soft cheese blend pots............ dear god an I toning up ;) As much as I'm an Athiest, Rhonda is a god send, her work is fascinating and highly informative. She needs to make a distinction between folic acid and Methyl Folate. For people who have the MTHFR Polymorphism, you do not want to take Folic acid as a supplement, but you do want to take Methyl Folate. Big difference. One will cause more problems, the other will solve them.
Ben Lunch's Dirty Genes is a good resource for science-minded individuals to learn more about MTHFR. As far as folate goes, plant sources like leafy greens tend to be more bio-available and useful for your body vs supplements which contain folic acid. Folic acid should not be taken in supplements or fortified grains because it actually blocks your body's absorption of folate similar to carbon monoxide blocking oxygen receptors on RBCs.
She's right, I'm 33 but look 35 on the outside, but I perform like a 20 year old. Specially on the mountain bike and trail running. My diet always includes a veggie smoothie every day :)
she answered the question "we live in Texas, and work out in heat. Should we hit a sauna?" with "you probably get some of the benefits, but whether or not you should seek out a sauna, i don't know" She had stated earlier that "2 20 minute sessions at 176F sauna, for 3 days increases 2 fold, and 2 1 hour sessions with 1/2 hour break, for 3 days increases 16 fold" you could probably do a rough calculation but bear in mind that core body temp is 98.6, so if the temp is lower than that, it may not be as beneficial. That being said, you are increasing your core temp if you're working out, so that would play a factor, as well
Iam curious what happens when you add ice cold showers to the sauna, it should, if you ask me, increase the stress level and therefore the benefits, but is there any studies done on hot-cold stress?
When Rhonda Patrick (or, closer to the origin - Bruce Ames) walk up onto the stage to begin a presentation, I cannot help but notice an anticipation rising, of potentially being met once more with the "so this is your metabolism" slide. I guess not this time - so maybe the next time!
key point at 17:32; "The enzyme that people need to get this methyl group from the folate, a lot of people have this mutation in this gene, the methyltetrahydrofolate reductase gene. So, many people have a polymorphism in that gene and subsequently they, even though they are getting enough folic acid, dietary intakes (enough relative to the average the average person) of folic acid, they actually arent getting enough to provide these methyl groups-" In other words, your environment and your genes and which ones are turned on or not, dictate what your optimum intake requirements are, not the RDA from the FDA. There is a lot we have in common but there can be big differences in how much of each nutrient one person needs compared to the next person. Sorry there is no easy answer to "how much should I take?" If you can you should spend some time studying what has been proven, and what your own body does well and where it seems to be not working so well. Human understanding of how things work, our physiology and chemistry in this particular context, is growing by leaps and bounds. Somebody reading this who gets the message, pays attention to discoveries and applies the newly emerged insights will live to be 200+ years.
Heat stress conditioning sounds interesting. It'd be useful to know how a 10 minute bout of a very hot shower helps, as that is far more accessible to the masses than the more controlled exposure. Followed of course by an icy cold 5 minutes so that you're not sweating coming out of the shower. Maybe that gets you some of the cold conditioning that she also talks about.
Started taking vitamin d after finding out about a deficiency. Didn't notice the effects till years went by and I realized I hadn't gotten sick even when the other 5 members of my family were. Idk about behavior though, I believe her but I haven't had much relief from my anxiety and aggression no matter what I've tried.
You probably need to forgive someone for something. When we forgive someone it isn't for their benefit but for our benefit. We no longer have to carry the anger and pain of what someone did to us.
I would like to know if the electric grid have a effect upon our body? because we are electric waves, how does it effect us in our homes since the electric runs at 60 cycles per sec. does it impact us in any way?
Can do it at the same time immersed in a sauna to your waist and shower with cold water or vice a versa simultaneously, talking about confusing your body?
A steam room at the same temperature would burn you. The steam in the air increases the rate that the heat transfers to your body. As the humidity increases the heat transfers faster to your body. A steam room temperature of 110 should be plenty for the same effects.
How does the hyperthermic process work as an overweight person. All of the conditions that you spoke of were applicable to my state. Always hot, sweat easily, increased core temp. Does my overweight state have hyperthermic benefits?
It does not have benefits. You stay cold more when cold and you do not have the normal ability to lose heat when over-heating. Very dangerous condition for you should you ever face extreme heat or cold.

Were can you get tested for your telemeres ageing damage. So I would know how much damage has been done ??? So far
Excellent presentation, Doc!
She is my new celebrity crush.... Something about wicked smart women.
She's awesome!
When Rhonda Patrick (or, closer to the origin - Bruce Ames) walk up onto the stage to begin a presentation, I cannot help but notice an anticipation rising, of potentially being met once more with the "so this is your metabolism" slide. I guess not this time - so maybe the next time!
Love Dr. Rhonda Patrick! Incredible woman. This is excellent info.
key point at 17:32; "The enzyme that people need to get this methyl group from the folate, a lot of people have this mutation in this gene, the methyltetrahydrofolate reductase gene. So, many people have a polymorphism in that gene and subsequently they, even though they are getting enough folic acid, dietary intakes (enough relative to the average the average person) of folic acid, they actually arent getting enough to provide these methyl groups-"
In other words, your environment and your genes and which ones are turned on or not, dictate what your optimum intake requirements are, not the RDA from the FDA.
I feel so ashamed to be discovering this video 2 years later..
3 for me
Heat stress conditioning sounds interesting.
She may be one of our future scientists.
Does your head have to be in the sauna? I have a personal zip up infra red sauna. Head stays out.
does red light therapy do the same thing?
Your good information would reach many many more people provided you give the information with no latin based terminologies!
She is awesome!!!!!
Started taking vitamin d after finding out about a deficiency. Didn't notice the effects till years went by and I realized I hadn't gotten sick even when the other 5 members of my family were. Idk about behavior though, I believe her but I haven't had much relief from my anxiety and aggression no matter what I've tried.
you need a balance of nutrition not just 1 increase of a vitamin.
Telomeres are cool but what we really wanna know is what vitamins will lengthen yourrrr
Not to be crude but 'Rhonda' is an anagram for 'Hard On' and I feel like this is not a coincidence
lmao, pretty clever of you to recognise that
That was great!
Can do it at the same time immersed in a sauna to your waist and shower with cold water or vice a versa simultaneously, talking about confusing your body?
Rhonda is a rock star🤓
She has taught me so many things!!
Here, in the Caribbean, we are healthier because to the heat exposure all the year around, then.
What Dark Chocolate is it that lengthens telomeres, does cacao work just as well as or even better perhaps considering its the source?
Rhonda you rock. Love your work
Question doc. How effective would heat stress be in a hot tub vs a sauna? Thanks.
Paleo FX is in AUSTIN Texas this weekend
Excellent!
Interesting about folic acid. I feel so much better when I take more!
Bonita Kristić by eating greens!
FASTING.
Cole Robinson and the Snake Juice diet is a pioneer.
Hey there fellow FATTY!! LOL
What Is her app called?
Very interesting, thank you
Her intelligence is hot
Right, nothing as attractive as a smart woman!
she does get hotter the longer she talks
If she was physically ugly, you wouldn't say her intelligence is hot.
Damn right.
Haaaa.... you read my mind. foxy and smart. (i meant the presenter not you... lol)
She’s Great 👍
Did she give a duration, temperature, and frequency for heat exposure to induce the effects she's talking about?
She did about 22 minutes into the video about 2 20 minutes sessions at 176° ....good luck
Yeah Rhonda Patrick is on point. I stay telling people about her.
Great presentation. I learned a lot! Thank you.
would a steam room work as well as a sauna at same temp?
Seems that any tests sited regarding benefit of sauna would need to mention the temperature to be of value.
She lengthens my telomeres 😍😂 my apologizes I had to
Yeah... mine too...no apologies!
I almost died laughing just now 😂😂
THats actually pretty funny. Then i saw your name.. that was pretty funny too lmao.
She’s married, unfortunately, she’s easily 36 plus and looks really good, can entertain, actually interesting, can make conversation, and make smoothies. A attractive woman from States is rare is sciences! People deny it, but all you have to do is look at data, or classes, field, it’s factual.
Ya I had to add just one more like to get your likes to 69. I had to.
boiiiiiiiii dr rhonda is lookin and sounding finnneeeeeee
13:40 weed makes you smarter, in case you didn't know.
goalposthead79 Not according to my observations of every pothead I’ve ever known.
Skip to 1:34 to get to Rhonda Patrick.
now way she just gave birth to a baby last year and is ca 36. she's looking so young, thin and fit. her skin and hair are almost glowing, as you can see in other recent videos with her.
C A G she’s a catch and she knows it haha
lol 36 isnt old lolol
not young either
Women can recover very, very quickly from having children, most people are just lazy and there's a mistaken belief that they need to "eat for two," so most end up gaining more weight than they should, plus the stress and time sink that is children tends to make losing most of that weight hard.
36 is nothing. She’s young and fit.
66 will show whether she’s onto something.
