Factorsynth is a new kind of musical tool. It uses machine learning techniques to decompose any input sound into a set of temporal and spectral elements. By rearranging and modifying these elements you can do powerful transformations to your clips, such as removing notes or motifs, creating new ones, randomizing melodies or timbres, changing rhythmic patterns, remixing loops in real time, creating complex sound textures...

I'm so curious about this, but I'm so hesitant to pull the trigger to drop ~$60.
I love M4L devices more than other plugins because you get to see people be more creative and experimental without the overhead of developing 100% new software and a GUI from the ground up, but sometimes the integration just doesn't really work for me. This definitely looks interesting, though.
Does anyone have any experience with this plugin? I'm curious how well it works in terms of CPU, general workflow, latency(?), and different usage implementations.

    That seems like fun.
    Neat and clean interface. Cool.
That track used in the video.
Any chance to get ahold of that ?

Hi On the previous development of Factorsynth it has four Factor boxes, now seems compacted to 2. What was the reasoning behind this and how does it effect the overall sound? Experimented with the development idea and I love it... just got to find enough dough... cheers

hi! yes, the prototype versions for Max had four factor boxes because both input clips contributed spectral *and* temporal shapes, whereas in the Max For Live version, only the master clip produces temporal shapes (the x-syn sound only produces spectral shapes, not temporal ones). I decided to do that in order to simplify the interface a lot, and also because you can achieve the exact same results switching the sounds used as master and x-syn clips, and using two instances of the device on two tracks if you want to mix both cross-syntheses.

hey! would you consider Factorsynth as safe for live performances??

When I bounce to file it creates a textedit document instead of a WAV file. The export components functions as it should & creates a folder with the various WAV element files..

You can just add a .wav extension to the exported file (or to the name of the saved file on the save window). I gather that's not very convenient, so I'll change that in the next update so that the extension is added automatically. Thanks for your remark!

Is your team gonna release a video of someone actually demoing this plugin in ableton??????? That would help before my purchase
