Factorsynth is a Max for Live device that uses machine learning to decompose any audio clip into a set of elements. You can rearrange and modify these elements to remix clips, remove notes, randomize patterns, create complex textures...

This it looks SO INCREDIBILE!! I already payed double cost of this device, for a Regrover, wich offer LESS than it look... and it works only with Wave format, witch is so BAD!! I really like somebody to make a comparation between this 2 devices!! ANYWAY I feel this is a real peace of ART!!! God Bless you man!!!

Looks great, will probably get this when you release the windows version :) But any chance you can make this Mira compatible? Would be great to use via the ipad then.

Any idea how this would work for creative sound design? I'm very curious to try this out, however, I'm a bit afraid that I'will always end up with rythmic grid-ish stuff. Any experience here? :) Thank you!

thanks for your comment! Factorsynth does not impose any rhythmic structure or grid. The rhythm of the output is determined by the input (master) sound, which can have a regular rhythm or none at all. The switchboards actually look like step sequencers, but their function is completely different: they connect timbres with temporal elements. You can take a look to the manual for more details: www.jjburred.com/software/factorsynth/download/factorsynth_user_manual.pdf

Thank you! So the grids aren't connected to tempo, but to the analysis of the samples?

that's right. The analysis of the samples generates the temporal elements (horizontal functions at the lower left) and the timbre elements (vertical functions on the upper part). Each activated button on the grid is connecting the temporal element to its left with the timbral element above it.

Awesome, then I'll put it on top of my software with list :)

hey, thanks for your purchase. Please send me more details to software@jjburred.com . Are there any errors displayed on the Max console? Which OS, Live and Factorsynth versions are you using?

did you code this in JUCE?

    • @jjburred

no, the interface is in plain Max (with heave use of Javascript) and the signal processing is in C++ compiled as a Max object
