      Hi guys, thanks for responding, I didn't even realise this was made a year ago so I'm looking forward to finding the follow-up you've been suggesting in the comments, if it's not here yet, I'll just wait ;)
      We haven't quite finished getting our van ready and will just be doing short trips away from home, two, three, four nights? Don't mind stopping at the odd campsite for the conveniences but interested more to be wild!
      The challenges I see are only really toilet, shower, back up power and 'laws', oh and offensive or threatening people, but that doesn't seem to be an issue listening to genuine people's (like yourselves) accounts. We've got an MPV - 5mtrs long by 2mtrs high, so can accommodate a PortaPotti chem loo, which we've got ...but didn't even realise you can't just empty them anywhere till you said, lol, plus we've never used it for number two's, so that's still a bit of a question.
      Main thing I suppose is, learning a bit more about the technicalities and 'legalities' of parking/sleeping on roads etc. We've not yet got park4night so will check that out soon. That just leaves the showering/washing, how do you guys go about keeping clean? I'll check out your other videos first though!
      Thanks again 😄🚍

      @SimonPlatt Hey Simon, you’re very welcome. Think we made this video in 2022. We’ve learnt a lot more since then.
      We really want this channel to be entertaining 😂 and helpful 🤓.
      Sounds like you’re on the right track.
      Our campervan has a shower and everything we need to stay clean on the road.
      There’s a few apps, websites and memberships to look at for sure. Britstops is a good membership to check out. Less wild camping with it but it’s helped us out no end.
      Anything else we can help with just let us know. If you have a cat and want to try it in the van, check out this weeks video 😎🤙

    Great tips, pretty much the two things I do :) Another app I use as well is Ring go - not sure if this a uk wide app? But for me shows the council car parks, which I’ve found nearly all allow overnight parking for free :)
    I always check the signs on Google street view to make sure :)
    Funnily I car camped where you filmed this, not at DD, but parked down in Fulking and walked up, was a fulking great location 😝🥳

    For those that do have a chemical cassette toilet, carry a spare cassette, that way you can going for 3-4 days between emptying. Not a bad idea, every 3rd or 4th night to book into a cheap site with facilities, charge your batteries, fill with water, empty loos and bin your rubbish.

    • @TristandKez
      @TristandKez  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, Paul🔥. Great piece of advice, it would definitely extend the number of days you can Wild Park. Since living in our van we found there are a lot of campsites and places that will allow you to empty your chemical waste for a small fee. This means you don't have to pay for a night and can head straight back off 😎.
      We're thinking of doing an update video on this as we've learned so much more being on the road full-time this summer. Is there anything else you'd add? 🤙🏼. Have an awesome day!

    • @paultaylor6029
      @paultaylor6029 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Guys, hope it was of some use. I guess the only other thing I can add is try not to skimp on the vans energy systems. Best/biggest batteries you can fit in, same for the inverter if you decide you need one. Solar of course and a 12V fridge so less reliant on gas. A diesel heater is worth considering. I know it isnt all about saving site fees unless you are like us, pensioners on a budget but money spent on the van will quickly be paid back. Oh, and if you use one of those aluminium drinks bottles to pee in, scratch a P on the bottom so you dont make any silly mistakes 😂@@TristandKez

    • @TristandKez
      @TristandKez  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree on all points. A lot of those we’ve had to consider now being full time. Power being one! No fancy batteries for us yet. But have a solar charger unit that charges pretty quick.
      Love the other suggestions. Think we’ll start drawing up a new vlog with all the updated information we’ve gained 😎
      Absolutely agree on the pee bottle 🤣. This story reminds me of some friends, at Glastonbury and not knowing what was exactly in a bottle of water 😳. Water, vodka or…. 🙈

    Hi Guys …. Just what I was after, such positivity, as in these dreary days of Autumn I was thinking of doing this come the new year for my photography trips. One of the most reassuring vlogs with no drama, which is so very refreshing for someone who is just thinking of doing this, albeit in my Volvo V70. Also, I notice campsites don’t like car camping. Do you have any words of wisdom on that front by any chance? Thanks and BR

    • @TristandKez
      @TristandKez  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gary, thank you so much for the kind words. Glad we’re coming across the right way and this video is becoming so useful for people. I think we’re going to have to do an update for 2024 with all the new information we’ve gained and learned since being full-time on the road.
      Not sure where you are based. But in the UK, Scotland is the most overnight parking-friendly. Might be worth calling ahead to some campsites, as this time of year, places may be more flexible as it’s out of season.
      If you let us know where you’re thinking of heading we can go through our list of places to stay and campsites and see how we can help you.
      The one thing we love about this time of year and being on the road is there are so many fewer people around. Gives us more nature and places to explore without the crowds.
      Also, we share more info on Instagram (@tristandkez) if that’s more your thing 😎🤙🏼. We also have a few car camping channels we can share with you. @zafiracamper and @wanderingwhere. Both are great channels. Hopefully, they will have some inside knowledge, hacks and tips on car camping for you.
      Have an awesome Monday and week ahead!

    Thanks for this video! Super helpful. I am intending to start living in a van full-time and am wondering if there are times you would want to stay in a spot for a long period (1or 2 weeks maybe) without having to move the van everyday. What would be the best way of going about this? Would it be a paid campsite? And also what if you wanted to be in a city specifically for a long period. Thanks!

    • @TristandKez
      @TristandKez  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Patrick, glad you found the video useful. For long term stays a campsite would be best. We never stay in a park up more than one night on the hole. There are lots of different options when it comes to campsites and pricing. Have you checked out picthup.com? Great to find campsites. Park4night app is great for overnight stays, amenities and campsites etc. Also Britstops is great for pub and other overnight stays.
      For city living, we’re not so sure. We stick to the countryside and coastlines. We did a video on staying in Brighton you can check out. Those apps and websites we mentioned may help with city living too.
      Lastly depending on where you travel and live, Scotland is the easiest and most accepting place to van life in UK. Hope this helps you with your new full time van living 🤙🏽😎

      @TristandKez  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey 👋, it really depends. What city are you in. Some will have more access to overnight parking than others.
      I’d look at park4night app and search for sites website/app. These will help you to find overnight spots. You can also look at Britstops membership as there maybe a few of these in your area.
      Moving on or staying more permanent is more of a personal choice. You may find moving on each day fine. Or you may want to be places more long term. Both the apps and sites mentioned above have campsites listed. There’s also pitchup website and a few others to check when looking for campsites in your area.
      We travel the UK and used to move on each day. We’ve now slowed things down and spend more time in one location and explore from there. Then move on.
      Glad you found the video helpful. Any other questions just let us know. Check out our website tristandkez.com/ as we have other helpful van life tips and more on there.
      Have a great Sunday 😎🤙

      I wish we did. We haven’t really explored Dartmoor. From the looks of most of the car parks, it’s no overnight camping. Not sure how policed it is with rangers etc.
      We did stay in ‘Widecombe Kiosk Car park’ for £5. Lovely little spot for the night. With accessible walks. Sorry we couldn’t be of anymore help. The West Country can be a little tricky for us 😬
