@@TristandKez Aw, I really hope some DID come from Goa - your names were scribbled down by us on napkins, back of menus, till receipts lol - we met quite a lot of bikers and adventurous types so we thought your content would be right up their street! :-) Tried to keep up with your videos whilst we were there but the wifi wasn't good enough so just catching up now - in between wash loads hahaha. @TristandKez Awesome, we've now got an Eldiss Autoquest 175 (2018). Our plan is to buy a VW T6.1 early next year, purely to rent out.

@TristandKez funnily enough I've just done a video about owning an older motorhome too. You're definitely right in yours about listening to them while your driving etc...as I'm finding out with mine 😂😊

Thanks Carl, we really appreciate the lovely comment 🙌. We love seeing the micro campers we see on the road. Old Gertie has her quirks but we love her and think the older van and setup has helped get us out of a few jams as work around a have been easier to get us back on the road. Like when our radiator fan switch went a simple bypass got us to our mechanic. From the sounds of it that might not have been so easy in a newer van 🤙

Hey Sam, we feel your frustration on waiting so long to get repairs… we are sending positive vibes your way 🤗. Our mechanic said to us an older van can be easier to fix or make a temporary fix. We had a temporary fix when our fan switch stopped working in the summer. A simple bypass kept it on whilst the van was on which meant we could get it to our mechanic. From the sounds of it wouldn’t have been so easy in a more modern van. We’re just taking everyone’s word at this point 🤣. But it worked 🙌. I don’t think we’re knowledgeable enough to know whether a petrol or diesel is better. Our old T5 was diesel and Old Gertie is petrol. I’m sure someone in the comments can chime in and give better advice. I guess if you have a diesel a diesel heater is easier but again I’m just guessing at this point. If any old campervan/motorhome owners are reading this and know more please help Sam out and leave a comment on which fuel type you recommend 🙌. Hope you’ve had a great Monday mate 🤙

Ah there’s always time to get one 🤣. We’ve got a few portables which keep us going. So that’s probably what’s not sped the process up 😂

That’s a great idea. Ours is direct debit so can cancel anytime I think. So may look to see if we can save anything. Only issue is you can’t use the parts and cover until 2 weeks into the cover I think. So we’d be playing with Sod’s Law 😂. But this is a great tip 🙌

@TristandKez the older vehicles tend to carbon up a bit more ,all helps keeping it from getting plugged up with soot

Hey Guys, Happy Monday, and hope you both had an awesome weekend. Thank you so much for the kindness and positivity. We tried adding more to the editing this week, so we hope it went down well. I can only imagine the fun and games of getting parts and repairs overseas. Fords sound like they are repairable around the world which must be a little more comforting for sure. We’ve definitely been conscious of taking Old Gertie to Europe and her breaking down. We’ve had enough fun with that here lol. Awesome we are both in the South at the moment 🤗. I can’t take any credit for the window covers. That’s all Kez. So much cheaper than the ones we’d bought for our old van. Have a great week, guys and happy travels.

Not sure, but i think the Talbot could be had with a 2.5L diesel same as in the Citroen XM

Should have added that's crazy you saw Old Gertie up for sale. What a small world! Coastal Motorhomes have been a godsend for parts. Great team there. We'll have a look at Custom Campers, too, thank you. Yes, I think it is an Autohomes Camelot. We love the head room too, it's a bit more than some we'd seen. We love the layout of Old Gertie, too. The door removal has really helped with easy access, as, yes, it was a little awkward opening and closing it all the time.

@@benwall6320 Kurust contains acid poss hydrochloric acid and needs to be well rinsed off with water once dry. I've used a dilute i think hydro chloric acid on steel frameworks prior to painting at a car paintshop i worked at.

The only times we worry about her starting is when we have had insane rain. Like you been sat in a car wash. Then she’s a bit temperamental. But we thinks it’s because it’s not a modern engine and a bit of wet gets in. After a bit of time she starts fine. She’s also fine in normal rain. We replaced the spark plugs and distributor cap as that haves us a bit of jip. On the whole she’s great. We have AA breakdown cover with parts and garage cover for a little extra peace of mind. TBH no vehicle is perfect and we’ve had our far share of issues with more modern vans and cars 🤣

@ ours can be be quite Smokey from the exhaust, how is yours?

We can definitely answer this in a vlog. It’s something we’ve spoken about at length. It all really depends on what you want from a van and what you want in the van I think. The bigger it is definitely can, but not always make it tricker to park up places. Even going to certain supermarket can be harder with a bigger van. But we’ll have a think of how we can chat about this in a vlog for you 🤗

I don’t but Kez does, I’m even more unique now 🤣🤗

@TristandKez Definitely unique, every other van life vlogger has them. It makes me wonder what the connection is 'campers/vloggers' Any ideas?

I just think tattoos are popular. Most people I know have tattoos now. I’d say 9 out of 10 of my friends have them. As time goes on I become more unique by not having them. Plus I hate needles 🤣😂

@@TristandKez I'm with you, I don't have either...yet yes they seems popular, especially amongst campers. I personally don't have because I don't like them & some (older guys) I know that have them, wish they hadn't. Each to their own though 😀

Love the suggestion Emma 🙌. I have relayed this to Chef 👩‍🍳 Kez and I think it’ll be a Yule log in the van 🤗. We did a 3 hour walk yesterday and rivers were taking over footpaths. It was quite crazy and a bit of an obstacle course. Wellies are being purchased asap 🙌

Thanks Pete, we’ve defo needed to slow it all down. With shorter days upon us we’ve found ourselves on the move too much and not being able to switch off. So back to slow travel for a bit for us. Definitely about finding the right balance for yourself 🤙

We aren’t diesel. Can you get a little tank attached to it for the diesel?

@@TristandKez Multiple utube vids, there are some that come with tanks, but the logistics if having a tank inside of the vehicle? Diesel stinks. There are expensive european made petrol burners, i don't kno if there are cheaper models our there.

@shaunwizard the good old day 🤗. Far simpler times. Had to know where you were going, using maps and booking in on the phone. It’s been a long time since I’ve used a map to get somewhere on the road 🤙

@shaunwizard I still remember taking a roll of change and having my BT phone card to make calls if I needed to. The last time I used a phone box in an emergency a few years ago . It just swallowed all my change and didn’t work 🤣. Really wasn’t ideal at the time. TBH I was surprised I could find one
