We are gutted as we had always been advocates of the scheme but we appreciate people do things based on our recommendations so we thought we had to update people that our mind has changed and we are no longer fans. Thank you for watching 😊
Ive been using Britstops for 4 years. But this year I wont renew it. How much has the price jumped??? Quite shocking and considering they are offering new users a discount, but there's no loyalty to long serving customers....well it just doesn't seem at all justified. Maybe that's just little ole me...
We joined but found the scheme too heavily based around pubs. We do enjoy a nice meal out with an overnight stop when travelling but mostly wanted to use rural locations like farm shops vineyards etc. There are very few in the scheme and those that are you can stay at without being a Brit stop member anyway! There’s no point in having a member scheme unless it’s exclusive for your members and Britstops isn’t. We use search for sites which do charge a nominal annual fee to use the app but the information is free to find on the web. The map show pubs and even most Britstops .. we still look at last years book and ring ahead to reserve. Like you we never expected to stay anywhere for free although that is the ethos of the scheme. It was taken over by a US enterprise .. harvest hosts .. but in the US there aren’t pubs as such so the scheme works much differently using rural locations. Have you tried the French equivalent .. French passion. They use a lot of vineyard locations which interests us. Good video guys .. love the drone footage. 👍🏻🥰👍🏻😊
Yes I think there are definitely better options out there now. I feel sorry for the people who are still paying for it as I genuinely feel it’s money for old rope. We have not tried the French one but we have not taken the van abroad yet. Thank you for the compliment about the footage. I’ll let you into a secret though - it’s not a drone. It’s a 360 degree camera on a 3.8 metre selfie stick 😊
I’m with you, I like a book rather than an app (H). I hope your pub guide will also give marks out of 10 for the burgers 🍔 & not just food in general, I know you are a connoisseur of such things 😂. We had Shakshouka in Krakow and loved it. Best wishes H&M. 😊xx

Another good Vlog . We agree with you Loved the Brit stops book . But we have stopped at pubs gone in asked could we stop over and they always 9/10 say yes.
Yes we have never been turned down. We have also been to Brit Stops pubs where they let non Brit Stoppers stay. In the current climate it’s not like pubs will turn business away. Sadly Brit Stops is no longer fit for purpose.
What's even more stupid is that when people complain to them about not having a book,they are telling them that they can always make notes in their old book. So basically pay stupid amount of money for the app in orser to write down information from the app in a book that they have previously paid for.
Crazy! Didnt realise that, its a shame but things change and we adapt or move on hey. We chose to move on as it doesnt work for us now. Thanks for watching and commenting 😁
Love what you have decided to do, but for us it would be great if you could also include whether or not toilet facilities are available as they are a must for our stopovers. Great Google map link for "pub stops" So, thanks a load.
Yes I think that’s the way forward. We once had one say no as they were under the impression they needed a council license to let people stay but other than that all good.
I need to update my card details for the auto renewal…. But I’m very divided whether to buy again. Shame after 6 years of custom. Plus the new website is full of Americanisms! Plus no book!! Thank you for your video and showing other options out there.
It’s such a shame as older people want a book rather than technology. They have lost our custom too sadly.
It will be interesting to see what happens moving forward and if they accept it was a mistake.

There are very few that have toilet facilities except when the pubs are open of course. They are mainly just park ups for the night 😊

Sadly I think they will off set the loss of customers against the savings from not having to produce the book
The problem with Britstops is it's always been pub dependent. They need to have a lot more farms, farmshops, city farms etc...
Yes we loved the unusual non pub sites but there weren’t enough of them to make it worthwhile, especially now there is no book.
