Great advice and great content looking to get my first campervan in the next 4 weeks can’t wait to get out there and enjoy the freedom and respect the surroundings
Caravan and Motorhome Club CLs can be really good and quite cheap. However I always check the price when booking as it is often more than advertised in the book or website. Prices vary widely from as little as £5 per night for a basic field up to £30 for what is effectively a mini campsite. All CLs have waste disposal and water fill up. Also the published GPS coordinates are often wrong as I think they are generated automatically from the postcode of the site. In rural areas postcodes can cover quite a big area. We did use Britstops for a couple of years but found that we were spending as much on the stopover as we would have done at a campsite.
Yeah they vary dramatically both in price and in what they offer. We tend to like quieter sites so try to search out those rather than the bigger ones. Found some real gems through them tho.
Thanks for putting this really useful vlog together. The only thing we haven't used is Britstops, but I think we'll subscribe when the 2022 book comes out in February 🙂
Cheers. Tbh I think we’d have got a load more use out if Britstops back when we were touring “normally” as they provide a great alternative to the campsite,so defo worth a look 🍻
Fantastic vid…exactly what I’d been looking for for months as a single female considering trying out an extended van tour! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
What i know is it illegal to sleep in car over night anywhere in uk except in the camping . Even in parking you can pay for 24 hours but that to keep the car alone not to sleep in it .
It is permitted in some cases but usually not unfortunately. Scotland is far more lenient. We’ve not really had any issues, and our van is hardly a stealth camper, but then we also don’t take the mickey either and park in places that will obviously irritate people!
It's not easy sometimes to find a spot. We tried park4night in Cornwall and some places were not free anymore, with nonparking overnight or we've been ask to leave.
Yeah we’ve found the same thing from time to time. The apps aren’t always updated when rules change. To be fair that affects all of them to some extent. Also I think the last couple of years has led to a lot of parking places having the rules changed due to a combination of overuse or people being irresponsible.
Good point. We use Park4Night as our main source of stopovers (UK and Europe) but I always read the reviews and look for recent positive comments. This applies to Search for Sites too.
The national parks in that area are tricky tbh. I believe that Gwynedd has, or at least is, setting up European type aires but those are likely to be limited to self contained vans. You might be better off looking for spots outside the national park to sleep. It’s not a huge area anyway so not that much of a chore to drive in and out as and when you want to do things.
Personally I’ve never used them, but I know folks do. If possible we always look to stay somewhere we know overnighting is permitted so we don’t get “the knock”. I can’t afford to lose any beauty sleep 😁
On p4n? We’ve found it a bit inconsistent. That’s the problem in the UK sadly, bit of a Neanderthal view of overnight camping. Having said that we’ve found that if we’re prepared to move on we can usually find somewhere free nearby.
Im new to this camping/campervan world and this video was honestly put together so well. Very informative 👍
As a new camper in a t5 this was very useful....done are the days of pulling a caravan and being told where to set up .. Cheers buddy 👍👍

Really great information exactly what I’m looking for but sorry the editing is dreadful, but still thumbs up thanks dude 👊
Yeah sorry this came early ish in the video editing journey. I’m no pro now, but the early ones are not my finest hour!
Fairly easy to park up for free on weekday nights in church carparks and on weekends on industrial estates.
Definitely, there’s lots of options out there. We keep finding new ones.
how lovely. not
Supermarket carparks?

Says free then you turn up and need to pay so it's not actually free
