      Lol! Otto! Thats how I got here! I had long forgotten this song until I heard it watching reruns of 70's Show! Love this song & never knew who sang it. Not at all surprised though, Neil was an extraordinary singer & song writer, VERY VERY TALENTED!!! Love the song too. Gonna have to look up the words now though. I grew up in the 70's but some of the songs, I had to just make up the words! Lol! Like this one & I think my friends & I all sang diff words to "Wrapped up like a douche in the stroller in the night"! ROFL!!! What fun we had bk then!

      staging of his own songs. Maybe it's a no-brainer but Neil
      leaves no-stone-unturned. Makes the performance so

    Getting Elton John to sing back up on this song was brilliant. It probably had a lot to do with the success of this song originally. Not that Neil can't sing in his own right, it's just the combination of Elton singing the backing was a great combination. A lot like Rockwell and Michael Jackson singing "Somebody's Watching Me". It's not the same without Michael. Like this song isn't the same without Elton in the background.

    • @powerpopaholic876
      @powerpopaholic876 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed that there is NOTHING like Elton's tone in the upper ranges in the period, and made this song EXTRA solid. Sounds Great.
      Actually, this was Neil Sedaka's 2nd album on Elton John's label (Rocket Records), and the first of new new music (the first was a compilation of songs from three albums that had only been released in the UK). Elton says he only sings backup on artists he really likes... and he was a Sedaka fan, even before signing him to Rock Records. So there you go - Elton was thrilled that he landed Neil! (And Neil didn't have a contract, so probably was glad to land the deal with Rocket), and Elton was happy to sing backups.
      Cool stories, (imo), and GREAT music. makes me feel good..

      @joevanseeters2873 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@magneto7930 No doubt. Neil has a great voice and he's a great entertainer/musician in his own right. But your right, having Elton in the back ground vocals added to this great hit from the 70's. I remember hearing it on the radio all the time when I was a young boy. Elton was doing quite a few "duets" back then. "Don't go Breaking My Heart" with Kiki Dee comes to mind too which was around this time too. Elton is one of the greatest musicians of our era without a doubt. He's been going for 50+ years and he's still creating some incredible music.

      Elton John on back up vocals for this song was big news. It caused people to be interested in it. And it was a hit. I agree that it would probably have been a hit without Elton. It’s that good. Anyway, this fantastic song revived Neil Sedaka’s career. He’s a very talented man. But his success at up to that time, 1975 .... was with quite formulaic 50’s and 60’s pop songs for teens of that old era.

    Happy Aloha Friday Thank you Neil for cheering us up. You give us positive influence & a ray of hope in the midst of the chaos all around. People are disregarding the existing danger of the pandemic, causing more harm than good. So sad.
    God bless & stay safe, continue to be careful.🌺🌈🤗🙏
