His other song, "Laughter in the Rain" has really stood up through the years, this one not as much. It did hit #1 back in the 1970s and I liked it back then when I was about 14. Elton has much better songs and so does Neil Sedaka. sorry to sound negative. It's not "bad" though.

Always liked this great Neal Sedaka song, the back up vocals of Elton John made this one of 70's favorites. Being 12 and just beginning to wonder what the future would bring listening to this song on the radio. Well 47 years later still here listening to this classic.
Loved this. Sedaka's doo-wop style had faded - and groups like "Yes," "Cat Stevens," "The Byrds," "Elton John," etc. we're flooding the airwaves. And Elton John thought to team up with one of his piano heroes - and they did a project together. It was just fantastic !!
I just heard this song on the "Oldies Station" OMG! But had to come home and go on TH-cam to search for who sang it. Wow! Neil Sedaka and Sir Elton John. What a Duo they made for a song like this. But I do remember that when this song first got played on the Radio, I LOVED it! Keep in mind that I am a big fan of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix etc so for me to love a song like this says. something. I guess?
No sweetie...all you're doing is responding to the versatility of the seventies... and America at the time. I was a gigantic rock fan but also loved Ray Stevens, including his country tune "Misty" in 1976.
Elton produced and promoted him and so sang with him..He was a fan..Cpt And Tenille sang Sedaka's Back over and over at the end of Love Will Keep Us Together..

I agree. Living in the city these days you'd never ever see a kid exploring around on their own, and rightly so. Being able to go anywhere we wanted on our bikes was such an amazing feeling of freedom that kids these days will never understand, they are insulated like the president every time they go anywhere. It's absolutely tragic. Nowadays kids can see anything any time on youtube or any of the million channels so they will never know the specialness of looking forward to Saturday morning cartoons.
