2:08 Using a follow focus with that lens doesn’t make a lot of sense, because the focus ring of the lens is fly by wire. How much the focus shifts is different depending on whether you turn the focus ring faster or slower. Because of this you can’t reliably pull focus with a follow focus and you can’t use the hard stops

I don't understand the purpose of this 'rig'. Yes you get a bigger battery, but now your blocking the view to your monitor. You have a added a top handle, but using it means you can't actually see what your shooting. You're using a FBW lens, so the follow focus is doing nothing. You're shooting to an external Samsung SSD, which all I've heard is bad things about with corrupted footage and disconnection issues. IMO to make this a usable rig, add an external monitor (Shinobi or Ninja V). Get a lens that either isn't FBW and will work with a FF unit (Rokinon, Samyang, IRIX etc). Find a better storage solution, and shoot with a backup (like the Siii has dual SD card slots). If you're going to stick with V-mount, buy at least 2 more batteries too. And get a tripod that has a big plate you can put on the bottom, so when you sit it down its more stable and at least level. The thing with a 'rig' is meant to add an ease of use, plus more weight so when shooting handheld you don't have micro jitters. Plus you don't need a matte box. Does it look cool? Yes. But is it necessary? Probably not. If you're constantly switch lenses and using 4×5.65” filters, and stacking multiple filters, then yes it will save you from constantly un-screwing and re-screwing filters. But honestly put your money elsewhere, it's not worth it.

I use a external monitor but at the time where I shot this video I didn't have one. With the external SSD, I never had problems but thanks for your input!
