A very fair assessment of the negatives of that model IMO. I'd also probably add the difference of the wheel track between front and rear.

I had a 2019 model of which i put a safari snorkel on. I believe there's a "sock" available for dusty conditions.
I used mine mainly for towing, looking back wished I'd had the rear axle widening done. New owner very happy with it.

Yeah I'm not really a fan of the whole sock idea tbh, it'd get clogged bloody quickly i reckon. Safari snorks are the go 👌

Narrow rear track is noticeable the moment you drive out the dealership; handling is lost when any weight is in the rear, and when you hit a corner, so pretty much all the time.

  • @trickster8635

You have to understand the auto hubs and when you do, you will know that you can disconnect and have the front drive stationary. In auto mode, shift transfer control to 2H and then reverse a little. Hubs will disconnect the front drive exactly that same as old hubs in FREE. You are correct in that you must stop, select 4H and drive forward (or reverse) to engage. If you are in and out of 4x4 for most of the day, it is better to manually lock them with the spanner and that way you have front drive ready anytime you pull the stubby transfer lever.

If any other manufacturer sold a car with so many design faults, things that need to be changed, they would have been taken to court so many times, they would be broke a long time ago.
What do you love, because I have watched many of these videos and everyone comes up with something different, there is problems and issues with just about every competent.
There is one I have never heard is not bad, the radiator, but I guess someone will hate that as well.

Toyota seriously needs to step up their game and listen to their consumers. If they were half affordable, I’m sure plenty of people could turn a blind eye to these poor quality of life design choices that they refuse to improve on, but they’re worth a kings ransom! Embarrassing!

Lets keep in mind before providing feedback to Toyota, the traditional market for these vehicles has been superseded by a variety of groups (all with too much cash) that buy this vehicle solely for its ability to be customized. If you want something all spec'ed out from factory then every other 4wd manufacturer is for you. Keep LC basic forever.

Not sure what you mean mate, i buy LandCruiser's because they are basic, just put a real snorkel in Toyota 😂

@OutbackOffroadNT not aimed at you mate, just the people that want luxury sedans in a "tuff" exterior.

I'm really not impressed with any 4x4 on the market the LandCruiser is farm equipment or a shopping cart depending on weather you buy a Prado or anything else nothing out there is real touring equipment and it's really disappointing

I know these Land Cruisers 79 series are expensive and very basic why as for the fuel filler cap why is it there exposed to the dust water ect why isn't it just behind the cab and infrastructure of the rear wheel like the filler cap on my 1997 Toyota Hilux 2X4

No fuel tank under the cab anymore. It's behind the rear axle.

Grossly overpriced. Body wise no real change since the mid '80's. Air conditioning only became standard 2 years ago !!!!! . Suspension much the same as in the '70's. This is a perfect example of Toyota squeezing every last drop of money out of an old design and doing as little to it for 40 years. They changed the engine only because emission rules forced it otherwise it would still have a 1hz non turbo in it.

You know the aircon was optional because some buyers didn’t want it? Imagine giving your customers choice

Dunno bros none of that had been an issue for me. Having said the diff lock actuator cover sounds like it's worth doing.
I like the charm of the speakers wouldn't change them.
I'v various high trim level dual cabs, chev 3500 and a few others. The former are perfecf with every luxury but boring and gay, the latter is flat out awesome beast but breaks heaps is gigantic hard to get mechanics to touch it and can't realistically be used offroad... then I got the cruiser. Fuck yeah perfect ute for me.
