  • In this video we test CCI Suppressor hollow point, CCI Subsonic hollow point, and CCI Segmented hollow point. We are looking at bullet impact on different targets and seeing how each bullet reacts. We start off with water jugs, move to canned food, then end with a new target clay block.
    CCI Suppressor hollow point
    45 grain @ 970FPS
    CCI Subsonic hollow point
    40 grain @ 1050FPS
    CCI Segmented hollow point
    40 grain @ 1050FPS

    Edited: Great video! I’ve taken a bunch of squirrels with the CCI suppressor rounds with my Tikka T1X 16” barrel and they drop like a brick. Seems like the expanding lead transmits a bunch of energy when they hit, and they are very accurate!

    Really a GREAT test. Great tezting info available here.
    I just center punched a crow in the yard at 35 yards with the CCI Suppressor 45 gr HP. It dropped like a rock. I may have to try my CCI segmented 1050 out of a shorter barrel to see if I can keep it subsonic as I like to keep it qiet in the yard

    Good testing protocols. I tested my ammo at a close range using a 22 pistol to simulate longer ranges with a rifle. In Clay at closer ranges I got massive expansion with the suppressor ammo. Apparently at 50 yards the bullet is going too slow for expansion. However is looks like the nose deformed to full caliber flat nose. The flatpoint will leave a pretty good wound channel.

    Wonderful to watch. Would like to see exact same, but from small revolver or pistol semi auto, maybe around 10 yards or such.

    Cut the clay block lengthwise through the impact axis.
    Nice results!

    Update-I found that i can can substantially better terminal effect if I open the hollow point up on the 45gr Suppressor ammo. it works fine up close on pests without modifying it but at 35-70 yards it doesnt seem to open up very well unless I open the hollow point to 50% larger than it comes from the factory. Modified bullets at 50 yards it will anchor woodchucks with head shots and will leave a dime sized exit hole in a crows breast. The segmented rounds work beautifully on all pests out to 70 yards. I just got the 40 gr hollow points at 1050 which I plan to modifiy the same as the Suppressor ammo. Its cheaper and faster than the Suppressor . Hoping I can make it perform as its 1/2 the price of the segmented ammo in my area and in my guns its not as accurate as the Suppressor ammo

    What’s the barrel length on your rifle

    • @Natezoinks

      16.5” on both

  • @bva8252
    @bva8252 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wow, just what I was looking for as I am trying to find the quietest subsonic hunting round. Is that the CZ with the 16.2 inch barrel that gives you the occasional supersonic crack? I have a 16.25 inch Browning and am wondering if I will get the same effect?

    • @Natezoinks
      @Natezoinks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, 16.5” barrel and occasionally (2-4 out of 10) get a super sonic crack. I wish it was a bit slower. Honestly think a 20” barrel could “slow it down” enough. Might be future testing, subscribe so you don’t miss it.

    • @bva8252
      @bva8252 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      oh, i'm subscribed.. looks like i will have the same issue with my 16.25 inch bbl... But wouldn't a 20" barrel speed it up, not slow it down because more powder burn will
      increase velocity?

      @Natezoinks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bva8252 some test have shown that the burn is done by 18”, and the 20” and 22” are slower. My 20” 10/22 is very quiet with most ammo.

    • @bva8252
      @bva8252 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another question if you dont mind. Both the Subsonic lead hollow point and the segmented hp are 40 grains and rated at 1050 fps... Did you get a supersonic crack only with the segmented? Sounds like our rifles are similar size and I want to pick the best hunting load with no crack. Did you ever chronograph them? @@Natezoinks

    • @Natezoinks

      Seen it, use it occasionally, not super accurate at 50 yards and beyond though in my testing. Great 25 yard round though. 👍🏻
