    I just picked up 2,000 rounds of the 38 grain Aguila ammo for $100 dollars. Picked them up off a local guy selling them online. That’s $.05 cents a round. Can’t beat that!!

      I got a few thousand rounds for the same deal last year. Used them all up and now having to spend .09-.10 per round for them locally. Can't wait for another sale on them...

      My local shop has them $129 I had a box in my hand then saw they mislabeled the 5.56 62g green tip at 55gBT price ($2.00 box cheaper) I grabbed 9 boxes of that an 500 of mag tech for the 22lr … that being said I’ve now watched tons of Aguila videos on here today and most likely will go for a 2k box on monday

    Hey bud, I love the Aguila stuff. I scored a huge buy on it in late 2019 when they couldn't give stuff away. 3 cents per round for both the 38 and 40 grain copper washed, delivered. I bought a ton of it only because that's what we mostly shoot on our range. I can't afford to shoot 9,40, and 45 in bulk, but at 3 cents a pull, I can burn through 1000 or 1500 rounds per range session without feeling broke after doing so. It was pure luck on our part to buy enough to last through the pandemic. It kept us able to have some nice range time during the shortages and insane prices on all ammo. Cheers

    This is my go to .22lr round too due to the price and performance balance. I have more powerful stuff to use now but they were more than effective when I had to do some raccoon culling (eating our ducks). I've also found them to be cleaner and more reliable than the other standards high velocity rounds I've tried like super X, Federal etc and right on par with the overpriced mini mag.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I've always said/felt like they are a cci copy. SuperExtra = MiniMag - Interceptor = Velocitor - SuperMaximum = Stinger ... In my gel tests the results are usually very similar as well, but with Aguila having the slight edge IMO in most cases...

      I shoot cans of dog food with the aguila high velocity stuff and it just destroys the cans. Always passing through with dog food blown out everywhere, which the critters will love. Maybe a little dirtier, but not by much and like many of you guys, I'm pretty particular about keeping my guns clean no matter what I'm shooting. Overall this is quality ammo at a hard to beat price.

    My prefered ammo, it's superior to most Federal ,CCI and others though many firearms. It feeds reliably in handguns, including conversion kitted ones. I was having issues in my new Derya TM22 A18 with Automatch, switched to this and don't suffer any more. My issue is to stock up on this.

    I have been using the Aguila 38 grain Super Extra HP ( It's the Minimag version for them)
    Now here is the part that surprised me, Out of a true 6" barrel pistol, NOT revolver, this ammo seems to approach 1200 FPS and very little more than that out of the 18.5 inch Ruger 10 22.
    My hypothesis is that I am getting the full burn in pretty close to 6", this is NOT true with the 40 grain solids of the same type, which is much better out of the rifle than the pistol velocity wise.

    As I was saying. At 10 feet, I was getting true expansion.
    Winchester's are better at longer ranges, without the expansion, but much flatter.
    Hits count!
    While shooting at a measured 100 paces, on a bottle on a fence post, while my friend, George, held back a group of scooter riders, and witnesses, I hit that bottle at that distance, with a single shot,showing the flat shooting quality of Winchester ammo!
    Quality throughout!
    The first group from that pistol was .187, at twenty-five yards.
    It's a keeper!( That's 3/16ths of an inch, first time out!)
    Yes, with great eye sight, and dedication, it's amazing how accurate handguns can be!!!!!

    good info. i have been watching a lot of .22 ballistic vids. something i have noticed with the shorter barreled pistols is that they dont expand in gel, but it seems that most all brand HP's expand in water jugs with the same pistols. usually recovered in the 2nd or 3rd water jug.

      I can tell you from my experience hunting and from doing gel tests on the channel with both types of gel, that real tissue damage seems to be somewhere in between the knox and clear gel results. Wound cavities in the clear gel are always super small compared to cavities in the knox that I now use exclusively. When I've shot animals hunting, the results are larger than what clear gel shows, but smaller than what knox shows. I used to shoot both blocks at the same time to show the differences, but clear ballistics wouldn't sponsor me and that crap is expensive...

      I've seen people on TH-cam say they've never experienced it, so I'd like to think it was a batch issue... IDK.. There's a video or was on TH-cam of a guy that experienced the same thing though...

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Might depend on the gun chamber. I love the Rough Riders (owned 3), but they aren't exactly the highest quality piece. That said, my Rossi RS22M (semi auto .22 magnum rifle) has a deeper chamber "chamfer/bevel" on one side than the other. On that side due to the imperfection, I get bulged brass from all brands- but the Aguila .22 Mag ammo is the worst. Their brass must run a little thin at times, though I haven't had any such issues in my .22lr semi autos...

    Sorry if I missed this or if it’s in another video, but did you get a typical penetration depth in bare gel with either the hollow point or round nose, particularly from the pistol barrel?
    Thanks for doing all of this testing with calibrated gel. It’s very helpful.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What's typical? Penetration in .22lr is most dependant on bullet weight, expanded diameter, and whether or not it tumbles- velocity hardly affects anything partaining to penetration depths when it comes to .22lr. I don't remember the exact depths so if it wasn't discussed in this video then I couldn't tell yah. But very widely expanded hollowpoints are almost always 11" or less, mild expansion 12-14", and no expansion 15" or more depending on whether they tumbled or not. I don't recall the exact depths of these, but they did perform like anything else would of the same expanded diameter and weight, because those are the determining factors because it's physics behind it all...

    • @koscheithedeathless1838
      @koscheithedeathless1838 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BuckeyeBallistics Thank you! This is the best kind of answer.
      I have been trying to find out how tricky it is to get a consistent minimum of 12 inches of penetration in bare gel, irrespective of permanent cavity width or other wound channel characteristics. Federal Punch’s 29 grain bullet made me wonder if there was something wrong with regular old 40 grain round nose bullets, like irregular yawing behavior, but it sounds like they might be fine from this POV?
      You are doing yeoman’s work.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With penetration in mind, I think the best loads from a pistol are CCI Velocitor and Aguila Interceptor. Great penetration and still good expansion from a 4" barrel. I have tested them from rifle and pistol- rifle expands more so you get a litte less penetration. But from a pistol they were both 13" or more if I remember correctly. Check them out in my .22/rimfire playlist...

    I’ve had around 15-20 squib loads from federal 22 ammo. Winchester super-x has always been a good hunting load. Aguila beats them all on price and works as good as any, so it’s pretty much my go to for everything but my hunting rifle (sighted for super-x for last 15 years)

      I haven't sat at a bench and shot groups at paper, but the round nose at least was good enough for me to get 13 consecutive hits in a row at 100 yards with a pistol (linked). For cheap bulk ammo, I'd say they are pretty accurate. Also much more consistant than most bulk ammo (no light loads, no dud primers). th-cam.com/users/shortsN1RDJSWpVO0?feature=share
