I feel like my style is a mix between dark academia and the royal aesthetic: that is, something classic and school, dark and preppy but with a touch of gold or pale pink, keeping it a bit simple but very elegant makes me feel like a princess

Admittedly, I originally liked the academia aesthetics because I really liked the fashion aspect. However, while I still love the “academia fashion,” it’s actually encouraged me to read more and work harder in school

Hi, there actually is an aesthetic called gray academia, it's in my second academia video. As for the mixing and matching of aesthetics, I'm sure there must be a name for it, but I don't know what that would be. As long as you're happy with you're wearing/how you present yourself and how you live, that's all that matters💜I'm glad you were able to identify a bit more clearly what you like though!

wow i didnt know the academia aesthetic existed..... I dont try to follow aesthetics (it feels limiting sometimes), but I called myself "dark angelcore" for the longest. Im dark/darkest academia all of the time, but I do enjoy wearing white in the spring and summer, so I guess I'm a hybrid, lol. I just enjoy the luxury.... timeless, quality clothing, the emphasis on culturing the mind, the baroque aesthetic....its perfect. But I do stray from this sometimes, so I'm not exactly a purist
as a hybrid myself, I know how it feels. I think you may have more "90s glam"/glam/angelcore qualities in your style than you realize. I usually use aesthetics to guide an inspire me to help define what it is that I'm looking for in my style (and how to further compliment the wanted qualities). Don't stress about being stuffed into one aesthetic! Aesthetics and preferences fluctuate and evolve overtime, so as long as you're comfortable in what you wear and get a better sense of knowing what it is that you prefer in your style, I think that's all that matters 😊
There is another acedemia type my friend told me about called pastel acedemia she says that it is similar to light acedemia but more child like I'm terms of using more pastel colours and being more optimistic. I'm wondering if you can find any more information on this.

love all of these. I feel most comfortable in dark academia though. My personal style, what I wear most often and feel most myself in is what I like to call "edgy academia". Besically dark academia meets cyber techwear kinda vibe. If anyone knows where I can find people who also dress in "edgy academia", let me know because I struggle to find other people who dress like that too

this video is great but I really wish you added a bit more diversity. i know academia genres are already pretty eurocentric but it can a be quite disheartening for people of colour and people of varying body types when they don't see people who look like them in a style they love.
You raise a great point here. This is something I’ve tried to address in my more recent videos when possible, but I do find it difficult at times because the source material I have to work with is extremely whitewashed. When doing my research, it’s been pretty striking to see how hard it is to find diversity in existing databases of free-use images. Google and Pinterest push images of thin, white people to the top, and it’s often the case that nobody creating these stock photos etc bothers to hire diverse models in the first place. Unfortunately I don’t have much agency to personally intervene in the white washing practices of mass media and big tech, but I definitely encourage followers to look up these styles on Instagram and TikTok (use hashtags to find them!). There is a much wider diversity of body types and skin tones to be found amongst creators. I am usually not able to share these other creators’ content directly because of privacy/copyright ethics, but they’re out there even if they’re underrepresented in free-use image libraries!
It sounds like you're more in the art academia subcategory! Art academia includes a lot more "playfulness" with color and pattern. Hope that helps and if you are still left confused/think it's not art academia you're looking for, I can try help you navigate through it! :) Suits in general though belong in academia, so that's a good starting point.

Hi, in my second and third volume, you can find out more about the colorful alternatives of academia, such as green academia and pastel academia. Some people have created academia specific to one or two colors, or a certain color spectrum :) Hope this helps!
Hi, I got it from the men's section at a Primark a few years back. You can find a lot of cheap good button-ups in the men's section, unfortunately they often do something funky with the sleeves or collars for the shirts in the women's section.
Yes, I definitely also recommend pinterest + tumblr or general googling around. I also recommend you watch the movies I recommended for Fairy Academia. I myself am a Fairy Academia oriented person, so I can also make more in-depth lookbook on it soon!💗
You just made me crave homemade mulled wine. 😩That's pretty fitting actually, mulled wine at least in Finland is traditionally drunk around Christmas time, and it's probably one of the most festive/appropriate times to dress up in darkest academia since everyone's color palette usually shifts to darker colors in the winter anyways.
If you like specifically victorian homes/fashion etc, you may actually be royalcore (or princesscore or something similar) or royal academia. I already have a guide on how to shop for your aesthetic (th-cam.com/video/ircrL07k-LQ/w-d-xo.html), but generally speaking for academia, you can buy from stores like H&M (sometimes), Zara, Aritzia, Uniqlo, or shop more sustainable from places like Madewell and Everlane. For online shopping on the cheaper side, YesStyle is a good place to start. For high end, I'm not 100% sure where's best to shop, because I have a pretty strict budget haha.
There is actually a specific academia style that is pretty much Harry's, Ron's and Hermione's style! You can find it in my second academia video, it's called chaotic academia :)

Even though i could relate so hard to some academia aesthetics...im a type of person one cant satisfy easily....thus i thought why not alter our own styles...i created a academia called gray academia which combines subunits of fairy, light,dark and basically art academia...hope it exists🦋
Hi, there actually is an aesthetic called gray academia, it's in my second academia video. As for the mixing and matching of aesthetics, I'm sure there must be a name for it, but I don't know what that would be. As long as you're happy with you're wearing/how you present yourself and how you live, that's all that matters💜I'm glad you were able to identify a bit more clearly what you like though!

wow i didnt know the academia aesthetic existed..... I dont try to follow aesthetics (it feels limiting sometimes), but I called myself "dark angelcore" for the longest. Im dark/darkest academia all of the time, but I do enjoy wearing white in the spring and summer, so I guess I'm a hybrid, lol. I just enjoy the luxury.... timeless, quality clothing, the emphasis on culturing the mind, the baroque aesthetic....its perfect. But I do stray from this sometimes, so I'm not exactly a purist
as a hybrid myself, I know how it feels. I think you may have more "90s glam"/glam/angelcore qualities in your style than you realize. I usually use aesthetics to guide an inspire me to help define what it is that I'm looking for in my style (and how to further compliment the wanted qualities). Don't stress about being stuffed into one aesthetic! Aesthetics and preferences fluctuate and evolve overtime, so as long as you're comfortable in what you wear and get a better sense of knowing what it is that you prefer in your style, I think that's all that matters 😊

There is another acedemia type my friend told me about called pastel acedemia she says that it is similar to light acedemia but more child like I'm terms of using more pastel colours and being more optimistic. I'm wondering if you can find any more information on this.

Besically dark academia meets cyber techwear kinda vibe. I actually don't know myself, though I wish I did! I am assuming it's from some period drama/movie, but I still haven't found out (the original image I found didn't have the source).
this video is great but I really wish you added a bit more diversity. i know academia genres are already pretty eurocentric but it can a be quite disheartening for people of colour and people of varying body types when they don't see people who look like them in a style they love.
You raise a great point here. This is something I’ve tried to address in my more recent videos when possible, but I do find it difficult at times because the source material I have to work with is extremely whitewashed.
When doing my research, it’s been pretty striking to see how hard it is to find diversity in existing databases of free-use images. Google and Pinterest push images of thin, white people to the top, and it’s often the case that nobody creating these stock photos etc bothers to hire diverse models in the first place.
Unfortunately I don’t have much agency to personally intervene in the white washing practices of mass media and big tech, but I definitely encourage followers to look up these styles on Instagram and TikTok (use hashtags to find them!). There is a much wider diversity of body types and skin tones to be found amongst creators.
I am usually not able to share these other creators’ content directly because of privacy/copyright ethics, but they’re out there even if they’re underrepresented in free-use image libraries!

It sounds like you're more in the art academia subcategory! Art academia includes a lot more "playfulness" with color and pattern. Hope that helps and if you are still left confused/think it's not art academia you're looking for, I can try help you navigate through it! :) Suits in general though belong in academia, so that's a good starting point.

Hi, in my second and third volume, you can find out more about the colorful alternatives of academia, such as green academia and pastel academia. Some people have created academia specific to one or two colors, or a certain color spectrum :) Hope this helps!

Hi, I got it from the men's section at a Primark a few years back. You can find a lot of cheap good button-ups in the men's section, unfortunately they often do something funky with the sleeves or collars for the shirts in the women's section.

You just made me crave homemade mulled wine. 😩That's pretty fitting actually, mulled wine at least in Finland is traditionally drunk around Christmas time, and it's probably one of the most festive/appropriate times to dress up in darkest academia since everyone's color palette usually shifts to darker colors in the winter anyways.

If you like specifically victorian homes/fashion etc, you may actually be royalcore (or princesscore or something similar) or royal academia. I'm so sorry this is happening to you, my parents also used to restrict what I could/couldn't wear when I was younger. If it makes you feel any better, what you're wearing is probably vibrant or pastel academia. I hope you can transition into the colors of your liking soon 💖

I already have a guide on how to shop for your aesthetic (th-cam.com/video/ircrL07k-LQ/w-d-xo.html), but generally speaking for academia, you can buy from stores like H&M (sometimes), Zara, Aritzia, Uniqlo, or shop more sustainable from places like Madewell and Everlane. For online shopping on the cheaper side, YesStyle is a good place to start. For high end, I'm not 100% sure where's best to shop, because I have a pretty strict budget haha.
