      The tire to wheel ratio is the same as stock so the speedo is the same. No, that cannot be changed via accessport.

    What wheel and tire set up for the sti is good as far as performance wise, going into corners and straight line speed?

  • @dixbeflopin
    @dixbeflopin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For what reason do you prefer to “stay away” from thinner wheels and tires with less offset(closer to 0), over wider wheels with more offset? I like the appearance of 8.5 wide ET+35 with 245/40 or 245/45 on 18’s. I don’t need a lot of tire overhang and prefer to keep wheel and tire flush with each other

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stretching tires limits the overall performance of the tire and car. Can be very dangerous when stretched enough. People run stretched tires to accommodate a more aggressive fitment.

    Looking through your vids again. I’m ready to get some FA500 gen8 coilovers and new wheels. Do you think it’ll be a plug and play setup if I go 18x9.5 +38 on 265/35? I’m trying to get a similar look in terms of meaty tires like your setup but want to keep it a simple plug and play setting.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is a pretty typical setup. It all depends on overall ride height and tire brand but it won’t take much to get it to fit nicely.

  • @golow88
    @golow88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You mentioned that on a 18x9.5 +38 and 265/35 could fit without the rears being rolled, does this still require the -2.5+ camber in the rear or would I be able to fit this setup with the stock rear control arms and the slight negative camber that is induced with lowering the car in the rear? Currently lowered on Cygnus coilovers and scared to death to roll the rear fender, but still looking for that aggressive fitment. Thanks for the help and enjoy the heck out of the content!

      wondering the same! My rear fenders are like 70% rolled i can go more but far out of my comfort zone. I wanna know if i can get away with 18x9.5 +35 with a 265/35

      @scoobyfreak86 Please grace us peasants with your wisdom lol

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It all depends on the height you are at and tire you are running. A mild drop with a proper sized tire you would be ok. Lots of factors come into play so the best way is to do everything you want to do and see where the car ends up. Adjust camber/fender rolling from there.

  • @italipino24
    @italipino24 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You did say that +38 requires fender rolling in the rear right? What if I want to run 19" wheels with race yellow lowering springs. And I just want a plug and play wheel and tire setup that won't rub even with passengers in the back?

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This all depends on your ride height. A +38 with a 255 tire won’t rub. A 265 would depending on tire brand. I don’t think the yellow springs lower that much so you should be ok. But every car is different.

  • @ThaSaw
    @ThaSaw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the info and clarification! I remember watching one of your older videos about the wheels, how you had to roll the rear fenders. I am looking into getting wheels for my STI and was curious if +38 offset made any difference, and glad they do! Where do you generally source your wheels/tires? This is my first time doing these big boy mods on any of my cars haha also, curious if you went with the swift springs on your FA500 coilovers. I'm between those and the HKS Hipermax GTs, no real way to decide than sporadic online reviews.

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No specific place for wheels. Just whoever has the best deal. Tires are from tire track.
      Do fortune auto’s. HKS doesn’t come with camber plates. Yes I upgraded to the swift springs.

      +40 you'll have to run spacers up front to clear brakes. +27 is a more aggressive fitment that will take a bit more work to get them to fit properly, but personally, I think is the better option. It depends on the tire brand, but a 255 looks better, in my opinion, on a 9.5. I don't like stretched tires.

    Are you running 265/40 or 265/35s?

    Hey man I would really Appreciate some help. I have a 2011 sti. I got a set of Enkei NT03+M 18×9.5×+40 as EVERYBODY suggested would fit "including fitment industries..." lone and behold they don't even come close to clearing the factory brembos in the front. You also claim they fit (at least the VA chassis). I know no there is no way they could fit from experience, do you have any input on this or suggestions? I keep seeing this offset recommended but there's just no way it fits man... Ty in advance.

      @Scoobyfreak86  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For an STI you need the +27 offset to clear the brakes. The +40 is fine for the wrx. You need to run at least a 10mm spacer up front to clear the brakes. Personally +27 is the way to go with nt03’s on the STI and dial in around -3 camber, roll the rear fenders, and you’ll be set.

      @@Scoobyfreak86 God I wish people would just put this info clearly in they're videos lol... I got them with 265/35 tires and I noticed just how MUCH poke they already had so I can't even IMAGINE the amount of poke with +27 offset... I do have a set of FA510s coming but I'm really going for canyon racer and Idk if i want to go that negative on the camber. Car is purely for function I don't care about stancing lol. Thank you again for all the info it really helps as I'm currently screwed rn.
      Maybe better to go 18x9??

      Is it also that particular wheel design that is forcing me into a lower offset??

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spoke design is what caused the fitment issues. You can get it to work and it’ll look very good. Nt03’s are one of my favorite wheels.

    Hey. My current setup is 18x9.5 +38 on 245 40 18 and im lowered on eibach springs (0.8" front/rear), this is for my 2019 wrx. my camber specs are 1.5 front, 2.1 rears. Was wondering if you would have any idea if a 255 35 18 would work better for my setup, and if it would require a fender roll? Looking at tires like the firestone firehawk indy 500. What do you think?

    • @Scoobyfreak86
      @Scoobyfreak86  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not a fan of stretched tires on wider wheels, so a 255 would definitely look better in my eyes. Rears might need a roll depending on ride height.
