The borla catback is another great exhaust. Very unique sound compared to other exhausts. A little quiet on its own. But with a downpipe it’s perfect IMO.
I daily drive and sti with the borla catback, and I couldn’t be more happy with it. When you want it to be loud, it is, and when you wanna be quiet and chill, it is. And it gets some occasional pops on down shifts XD. Edit: I forgot to mention how easy the install was. First try with no leaks, and no extra gaskets are required.
As I was scrolling thru comments, I was wondering if anyone was gonna mention Borla. I have it with the Cobb downpipe and it has a nice deep growl at idle. Aggressive but not excessively loud. Definitely a less common choice but I like it!
My favorite exhaust system, which I have on my 2020 STI, is the Remark 4 inch quad burnt tip axle backs with the remark non resonated mid pipe. I have stock headers, stock up pipe and stock down pipe, and it sounds like a beast! I highly recommend it for those who do not want to mess up their manufacturers warranty but still want to bring out the beast in their STI!
@@lordflxcko5763 You do not need a tune to do mid pipe and exhaust/axle backs. You only need to tune if you do a down pipe or anything else under the hood.
@@lordflxcko5763 I have an install/audio video on my TH-cam channel if you want to hear what mine sounds like with only a non resonated mid pipe and axle backs - everything else is fully stock.
@@lordflxcko5763 I have the set up you're describing. Have you pulled the trigger yet? I can give you clips if you like. I'd even be willing to sell it to you if you like it. I'm looking for one that's not as loud (wife and kids don't approve).
I have the borla s type and I think it has a deeper tone than the r400 but has a good aggressive sound when you get on it. Also no droning on the highways.
I have the r400 for my sti and honestly i personally dont find theres a lot of drone in the cabin when driving highway... All in all I love it and totally worth the $$
I have a 2019 sti and I went with the remark axel back and I can’t say I don’t love it. Cheaper than most but made really well will be buying the midpipe sometime this year
I started out with a nameless axel back that had 4” double wall and burnt tips, it was alright for the time being, I switched to the Tomei system and have never looked back, I now have a Turbo XS catted downpipe, sounds amazing, can’t wait for the header I want to get.
For my fa20 wrx I have killer b headers, PLM CATTED j pipe, invidia r400 but I got the nameless performance muffler deletes for the r400 I love it. Will be very shortly changing over the PLM j pipe to an ETS J pipe.
What stinks is I love love love the sound of the r400 with my catless invidia but the highway drown at 3000rpm is bruuuutal. I hear the extreme TI gets rid of that. I’m also told that around 500hp the invidia becomes too restrictive because it goes down to 2.5” at the Y pipe
Had an AWE Touring on my 19 STI. Upgraded to a Cobb Ti kit and immediately regretted not going with it in the first place. The Build quality, sound, fitment, and appearance are worlds apart compared to AWE. You definitely get what you pay for. Sound is much deeper and not as high pitched. Very light drone. My particular AWE fit like shit and was noticeably uneven. Could never get over the poor build quality.
I put a nameless with 3" tips and 4" mufflers on my wrx and I have no regrets...tbh I saw long lead times on their website so I emailed them - They got the exhaust I wanted to me in a week, despite the lead times...
I'm considering 4" muffler and 3.5" neochrome or going 4" double walled... I'd love to year how it would sound/look on the wrx in person though xD looking for one that isn't obnoxiously loud but a mature sound that accents the car
Came here to say this. Corsa is easily my favorite. No drone like the Invidias, either. I've had mine for 6 years with a 3" downpipe and get so many compliments and inquiries about it.
What is the best exhaust to get if I want a good tone with the iconic Subaru sound but can listen to music when I want without turning it way up just to hear over the exhaust. Looking for a good sounding exhaust but not too quiet or too loud like I said above. What are your thoughts?
Is the Cobb quieter than the Q300 while cruising? I had the ETS Quite with resonator and found it too loud for a daily driver after upgrading to EL headers and an ETS rotated turbo kit with catless down pipe.
Id love to see where the Greddy Revolution RS ranks on your list!! I test drove a used S209 with it this exhaust on it and it was very comparable with the Tomei!! Id love to see where the Remark single exit would rank as well!!
I’m thinking about the Perrin dual tube that you used to have but it doesn’t make your favorites list. What are your overall thoughts about that exhaust?
Where’s the Crawford Gymkhana exhaust? I have the Crawford exhaust on my 04 wrx but it’s loud af lots of turbo whistle and pops and backfires great content on the channel
Recently bought a 2021 WRX Premium. I always thought that these cars came with some sound already. Mine has a little bit of a deep tone but not what I am looking for. Really didn't want to drop too much money on upgrading the exhaust, at least not right away. I like most of the ones on the video except for the one with the single pipe with the larger exhaust opening. A litttle too loud in my opinion. I'm sure this is much more difficult than doing a cat back on a Honda civic. I would probably look into having it done by someone to make sure its done right.
I have an awe touring on my 17 STi with grimspeed downpipe. Sounds so good on coldstart. Once it warms up its quiet at idle . When i pass 3k rpm its sounds deep and agressive.
Would you happen to know how the AWE Touring is on a scale of Q300 to R400 on an STI? Haha. I've had both and got rid of the R400 for the Q cause of massive highway drone but now I feel like the Q300 is a bit too quiet for me.
Hey guys I had a question for you about the Invidia q300 exhaust. I currently have a stock mid and Y pipe with Nameless cans on my 2018 limited wrx. They sound awesome overall. Is the Invidia a lot quieter of an exhaust system? I am picking up a full mid/y/cans this weekend. Did you say I could swap invidia cans for the nameless if I don't like how they sound? I just don't want a super quiet car. I don't think mine is to loud atm, so I like the volume and quality of the sound. I'm eventually going stage 2 which is the only reason I'm snagging the q300 set. I also got an awesome deal on them which is why I didn't just buy a nameless y and mid pipe instead.
Love all the examples man! Nicely put together too! For that rk titanium cant wait for that! Ill be contacting them for fitment at the end of this month
What sounds better on an fa wrx the ets extreme or tomei? Cant decide if I should sell my tomei for an ets. Haven’t gotten any real good sound clips of it
I have a tomei right now and I really like it but I think I wanna move on to the ark performance I been eyeing it and seen your video on it too with 1orlast any thoughts ?!
Depending on your downpipe and header it maybe on the quiet side. If you have UEL header and catless, it's wonderful combo. On Phil's car, it was perfect. What is your full exhaust set-up?
I love how the Tomei sounds but would rather have the quad tips for better look on the car.
Tomei got hella drone
@@Dragunov302 lol? have you heard the r400.
The struggle with choosing a exhaust system ahah
Agree w this, going w the Cobb for my car
Yeah one of the reasons I went with the R400 was to fill the back of the car. I do wish I went Tomei now though lol
They literally shipped it within 2-3 hours of my ordering the mid pipe. Nameless is really stepping it up! Can’t wait to hear the full catback
The borla catback is another great exhaust. Very unique sound compared to other exhausts. A little quiet on its own. But with a downpipe it’s perfect IMO.
Good point! I've only heard the Borla once in person. For some reason, not very many people in my area have it.
Yea, I like how the tone changes depending on the RPMs. Sexy on decel

Borla just isn’t very popular in the STI aftermarket community for some reason 🤷🏻

I have Q300 on my WRX STI 2012 sedan and it is great. Good sound and comfortable for long distance traveling.
Love my current setup: N1 dual exit, resonator removed, catted downpipe. Def don't regret getting rid of my q300.
NO WAY SMA E
I ran the ark and it is 100% worth the money. Tomei uel headers, Cobb catted downpipe, and the ark. The best sounding Subaru I’ve ever owned.

I don't know how you missed the fact that AWE makes a stereo sounding exhaust. The sound and flow from left and right muffler differ greatly.
That wheel and tire setup at 6:00 is sweet.
I love my Nameless 4” muffler axleback! Perfect volume and sound.
Also, you talked over the Nameless :(
Good Video, I’ve been looking to upgrade my exhaust on my 17 STi for something louder than stock but not super loud, I like how the AWE touring sounds
Clean ride bro! Great inspiration.... picking my a new STI this week! THanks for the exhaust review.
The tomei sound

q300 ftw!! quiet until you get on it. avoid cops and neighbors love you in the morning

the ark grip sounds amazing
I went with the Corsa, really happy with the sound and can’t go wrong with their no drone design.

The wrx at 3:18, whats that bumper / rear diffuser? And whatre the tail lights too? Those are super dope.
Carven exhaust sounds really good on the fa20
Which exhaust would you say is the best one performance wise?
I agree with the AWE recommendation as someone who only wishes he scooped up a WRX
The greddy RS single exit has to be the best sounding exhaust I've heard so far.
TOMEI FTW! Still waiting for you to join me on the R ;)

What’s deeper/brings out the subbie rumble more the tomei or the awe touring? Im going with one or the other in a few months
Fujitsubo Authorized R or the HKS Legamax

Great video ! How would you compare noise level and drone between the Cobb titanium and the Q300 ?
the awe one is just insane
Tomei is def the best
can someone tell me what those tail lights are at 5:49? ive been looking for that specific one in that specific color for a while!
That ark grip exhaust is music to my ears 🔥🔥
Running Cobb turbo back on my 13 wrx and loooooooove it. How do you like that car lift you're using. We are thinking of picking up one.

ETS quiet is the best in my opinion. Great video. You always make great content and entertaining 👍🏼
Tomeis tend to crack at the welds a lot but I love AWE
Yeah, I mentioned that.
Think i'll go with Cobb, something more quieter. Stock STI exhaust is kinda loud on cold start and dronie on highway.
Yeah, the Cobb is really quiet while still providing a good sound at wide open throttle.
what rear diffuser is that at 1:06?
I'd choose awe touring also!!
Recently found your TH-cam, amazing channel! Do you not like the Perrin? I’m trying to decide between the Perrin and Cobb Catback for my 21 STI!
where do i find those taillights at 6:11 ????
The Remark R1 Single exit that just came out is actually pretty good.
I have q300 catback on wrx :) and i like it better than stock :D
I just got a sti 2018, I was wondering what is your opinion on a remark catback ? Are they any good ?
Love my AWE and I can agree no drone inside at all and as you said compliments the EJ sound well.
AWE is probably one of the more overlooked exhausts for the VA chassis.... but gives such a great sound/tone, and makes my FA sound great!

Once it warms up its quiet at idle . When i pass 3k rpm its sounds deep and agressive.
I love it too. If I was in the market for an exhaust, it would be an AWE Touring.
I like the idle rumble of my stock 2019 exhaust.
Favorite exhaust system is Stromung's 3" Quad Cat back exhaust
6:56 what exhaust is on?
What year is the sti at 3:25 with the tomei?
Magnaflow xMod. has some 1st gen quirks but sounds great and has a modular mid muffler option that greatly reduces any drone for road trips.
I like the Black Sheep quote at the end : )
Keep an eye out for the Greddy RS!
What has more drone, the r400 or the tomei? on the fence between the 2. also its for an ej
So dumb question but which one would be a classic subie sound?
Wait if i have a simple WRX not a sti, then does these fit on my wrx ?
