I feel no matter what coating the disc manufacturer puts on the very basic thing is to clean off the grease and dirt that has come off your gloves while handling them. Loving the videos 👍
Mate I wouldn’t beat yourself up over it. We’ve all done it, and you don’t have to justify yourself with cleaning new brakes. If you know then you know. If people question stuff like that then they quite clearly not mechanically minded. Great work as always mate. 👍🏼

I was going to post this 👍 The guys acknowledged the use of axle stands in conjunction with the jacks before and had a near miss with the coil spring compressor. Hope they take this advice onboard too. We all learn everyday, exactly as said in the video
I was 100000% sure that I had so much pads it could last me another month or two. Mind you I do a lot of motorway drives and not city. Bit annoying but it was due anyway, just very dangerous 🫣

Strange you didn't get a code up for an open circuit on them sensors. Good shout on the Audi sensor with the corrosion, so many modern mechanics can only work from the book and not use a bit of logic to solve a simple wiring fault.
It happens matey you aren't the only one and won't be the last lol. But yeah at least changed it now and not left it till it gets bad. Brakes are important so good job all round.

Please, please, use a kneeling mat. Take it from someone who spent 10+ years crawling under F4 Phantom jets on hard concrete floors, it takes a toll on your knees that only shows when you're in your 50's & they go creaky, cracky & crunchy.

You could also do a video on it and bleeding the brakes soon as he never shows that…. Plus winding back a piston ain’t hard and if you need instructions on how to wind back a piston it’s best they stay away from doing a brakes altogether it other ppl that pay the price

@@themarvelousvlog btw when I say torque bar extension I don't mean an actual clicky torque bar, I mean the torque stick things that limit impact drivers torque, they look like extensions and give a pre set torque (weight) allowing impacts to be used on things like wheel bolts, check them out if you didn't know about them already I have a set of 4 in different colours for different torques.......

I work on ducatos and boxters all day 6 days a week🤣so the same set up as your relay, the brake pad warning 9 times out of ten do not work. Majority of the vans I do brakes on or even work on the sensors are snapped. It’s useless having the sensors on them🤣
I think the sensors on this is ‘ground sensitive’ so if it touches the metal part of the disc, it will get triggered. Weirdly, I’ve never seen it get triggered so that’s probably why they just chopped it short so it doesn’t touch a metal? 😂
Wait until you visit a network Tyre specialist you don't normally go to, who while they have your wheels off to change the tyres try to upsell and inform you your brakes are "metal to metal", a week after you've just replaced them.... The following conversation resulted in 4 waiting customers going elsewhere.... They learnt not to try and rip off a master tech.
My dad was a window cleaner we use to have the dirtiest windows In the street are machines who look after area BT van’s most of them had cars that were not in the best shape my mechanic who looks after my wife’s and mine car will not fix the rear wiper on his parents car he did fix my wife’s a few months ago i am a now retired telephone engineer and we had old extensions all around the house and a lost wire from are pole down the wall just before a retired I sorted them out it is called a busman’s holiday you don’t want to do for you self What you do for other people During the week 😅

First job I can still remember till this day. It was very nerve wracking but that goes for every job though, isn’t? Tbh I started with just a toolbox, no power tools. First profit I spent on impact gun, then a basic diagnostic tools that is capable of doing DPF and EPB support. It was Autel’s MOT Diagnostic tool- very good, I still use till this day. Tbh, it depends on what path you take. I seemed to have found myself that I just buy whatever tools I need for that moment, it the following day

none of the vans i work on have "pad sensors" every oilchange requires all 4 wheels to be pulled and brakes checked... only high end vehicles have them. and it happens ive had my own van hit metal on metal but mine was caused by a fused slidepin (welcome to canada) no matter how much heat we ended up shearing off the top of the pin even though we nearly had the bracket redhot... quick run to the parts store and cannot buy the bracket alone but we ordered 2 new pins and bought a new bracket from a wrecking yard and rebuilt it.. things happen at least you addressed it quickly ive had vehicles come in or i went to that the pad was non existant and the backing plate was worn halfway though.. come work on some canadian vehciles and dont be surprised when half the car falls apart, i had a car come in where one fuel tank strap was half missing and the other was hanging on by about 1/4 of metal.. i have safety failed cars that are less then 10 years old due to ROT and yes i have the ability to prevent an owner from driving a vehicle away by seizing there number plates i hold a Motor Vehicle Inspection Station Licence... i am an ex ASE certified Tech aswel..

The calipers look nice painted but as you quite rightly pointed out, unless you strip them down it causes problems when it comes to brake efficiency.

I understand mate. I have to explain to my wife every time something breaks I was going to do it this week....
if its the oil viscosity light then it wont always last 1 year because if you have dpf issues it affects the oil in the engine so reducing viscosity
When cleaning brake or clutch parts with a rotary wire brush use brake cleaner first and ALWAYS use a mask
unless working outdoors in the fresh blowing
air, plus no asbestos etc used these days.

what grease do you use on your brake discs
The disks may not ship with the anti corrosion oil on them anymore but you Still need to clean all the thick oily fingerprints off.

Absolutely. Out trousers have built in knee pads in them. If you look closely, the knee/shin area is very square due to the pads inside it
