  • Blue Light Aware is a short video, produced on behalf of the emergency services. Their crews rely on the help of other road users when they're on a 'blue light' journey.
    By watching Blue Light Aware, you will better understand their needs, you will be reducing the risks you face, you will be contributing to a safer road environment and you might also be helping to save a life.

    Every car yielded. The sirens were turned off when there was no risk. Where there was a risk such as a T-Junction or blind bend, they turned them on. They stopped at intersections where the traffic wasn't too clear. They didn't keep doing when a motorist was confused at a roundabout. They kept a constant speed throughout. Very efficient and well done. MAKES ME PROUD TO BE BRITISH!

    The driving of the other road users was largely very good, which is pretty re-assuring, even if it was semi-rural West Sussex. The mini at around 20 minutes deserves praise for indicating that it would pull in but waiting until completing the curve before doing so and allowing the engine driver a clear straight to overtake rather than having to do so on a bend.

    Beg to differ pal but the video clip definitely IS NOT in an officers car, for starters it has a much higher field of view way above the tops of the cars. Look at 4.07 the eye line of the camera is in line with the cab on the 7.5 tonner.
    I would pretty much say with the way the driver is using the sirens that the video is actually a training run and not a shout.
    As for not travelling quickly if its an officer ? load of bollocks ! my bil is ACFO when he gets a call he's off like a rocket

    I M O the blue light driver needs reassessing - incorrect usage of 2-tones (several occasions), clipping kerbs (again several times) and at least twice he stopped across a red light junction - you do NOT stop ON the junction

      terry thomas I saw nothing wrong with what he did. Tone usage was fine. There are times when you can stop on the junction.

    • @findthebadger418
      @findthebadger418 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I see nothing wrong with the tone usage, if anything I would say s/he used it a little much. However this is driver discretion.
      If you have had any form of blue light training, you should be aware/ had been taught that when proceeding through a red traffic signal (treated as a give way, as one of three statutory exemptions awarded to blue light vehicles) if a vehicle is moving, at speed or simply rolling towards the junction, you should come to a full and complete stop and attempt to make eye contact with that driver.
      You should then only proceed when they have come to a full and complete stop and it is safe to do so.
      As if they decide to continue into the junction and you are involved in an RTC, in the eyes of the law they had the right of way and you as the emergency driver should have given way.
      You should know this though, if you've done your EFAD.
