Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less. -C.S. Lewis
CS Lewis was something else. An intellectual giant but also very spiritually aware.
Very Good!!
“A humble person does not think less of themselves; they just think of themselves, less.”
-Zig Ziglar
👍
A few decades earlier: "True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less." -C.S. Lewis

It's gotten very frustrating to see mainstream media paint good things as bad and insane people as healthy. Good info here. Hopefully people can carry on building a world with more moral character as people open their eyes up to the subversion in the public eye.
I feel even more frustrated that people let the media influence them more than a media that lies.
It bothered me for a while, but now it's a blessing. It's allowing people to really show who they truly are. The past few years have been very telling on a lot of folks I've known. Folk who'll fall right in line with what they're told, including demonizing those who don't.. and the folks who'd rather face the suffering head on, rather then bow down. Ain't good or bad, just clarity.
@jamesborek8125 "Woe to those that call evil good and good evil..."
Isaiah 5:20
And that's what the world is doing. Not just in politics, but the media, education, everywhere.
But like you said, when they reveal themselves as immoral, low quality people, they're actually doing you a favor. For instance, if you're a young man or woman looking for a high quality life partner, pay attention to that girl/woman's or guy's social media photos and posts.
If there's pictures of them partying hard and getting completely plastered that's a major red flag they're gifting you with. Pay attention to that. And the mixed messages. If they've posted on their page, wall or whatever that they're a Christian and "...living for Jesus" but on same page they've got pictures from the crazy keg party and sexually suggestive photos and comments or the same from someone they hooked up with over the weekend, that doesn't jive with their Christian "witness" that's another tell or reveal about their true character.
Always pay attention to those things. Because they're essentially telling you to avoid them like the plague. If you choose to ignore all those red flags/warning signs you're in for a world of hurt. Any guy or gal who chooses to ignore all those warning signs will only have himself/herself to blame later.
What I have grown to despise is the "Sympathetic Villain" in most movies these days. They create these villains that had something make them bad as to absolve them of their responsibility and then its not their fault that they are evil, like the modern take on The Joker.
This man and many like him has gave me new out look on Christians . I’m not religious. working on my journey. This video is exactly what I needed
If you like John, you’ll love Jesus. Praying for your journey!
That's awesome sir. Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose from the dead. If you believe that, you will receive the gift of everlasting life 🙂
Remember it isn't about the religion, it's about the relationship with Jesus. Prayers for your journey!
God loves you and believes in you. He is with you always, all you have to do is make room for him in your life so you are on the right journey.
@@tje5553 100% we must decrease, He must increase!
Thank you for all you do John!
I have been an atheist my entire life, from a family of atheists.
Hearing you speak on Christ and manhood has inspired me to start taking my family to church and am beginning to go to the gym.
Keep it up. You represent what a man should strive to be!
❤❤❤❤❤ I love your comment
Congratulations on your decision, brother!!! Well done!! I'm welcoming you into the family now, because I know that God is about to do a great thing with you!! God bless you brother.
Praying for you!
Blessings to you on your journey…. I came to faith at 29 and I’m grateful to God for it! It’s been almost 24 years now and He has helped me become a better man, husband, and father. Praying that you find peace, joy, and contentment only found in Jesus.
I'd challenge that you likely weren't an atheist and were instead an agnostic. As you began to find an inkling of proof, you drew closer. Peace be with you.
This is a fantastic list. The one thing I might add to it is gratitude. When people don't take things for granted and truly appreciate what others do for them, it says a lot about their character.
I really have to work on my ego. I find myself being less than humble on some days, and having self esteem issues the next. This and my temper are what I’m working on right now. Appreciate all you do John.
Love it. “You con the whole world. But you can’t con your family.”
My Grandpa used to say "You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his horse." Outdated, but wise, and it has a lot of common themes with your video today.
👍 Same with dogs, or other animals in general.
Does it? Well.. it might if a horse is your only family, but I bet you will find quite a few men who will treat their horse a lot better than their kids.. so, not so sure about this one.
@moparman1619 Back in the day you didn't get a horse cause you thought they were so cute, cool, and special. You got them for utility and necessity. Basically any animal that you only own out of utility and necessity, you can abuse if you're narcissistic or have temper issues. And plenty of people did back in the day. Nowadays we get road rage and cusd out our stupid car when it doesn't work right. :p
Best way to tell if someone is bad is that you walk up and they already have a guy in a black hoodie in a choke hold and they are telling that guy an advertisement about sportsmans guide and then they finally choke them out and while on the ground they steal said hoodie off their body and run away. Kinda nuts if you ask me. Would not trust that kind of person. 😇
That's always been a gift of mine I feel lucky to have, being a very good judge of character. It can go a long way
I seem to have Iost my way the past few years and have become more & more isoIated. I put fear over faith, but am slowly coming back. John's advice is perfect and applies to women, as well. I have to get back to person I'd want to be friends with before I seek out those friendships. PlTY is never a good basis for any heaIthy reIationship.
Thank You so much & Many Blessings to You All.
This world has got us all down. Don't lose heart. Trust God, He's in control of all things. Praying for you.
@@johntoddstewart2183 Thank You so much. Your kind words & prayers mean a lot to me.

Character! Spot on from beginning to end, John.
These character traits come out when you get to observe them.
If you want to get the truth faster get em drunk or angry, they will tell/ show you what they really think.
That is such a true assessment. I, as a man, try and live that way. The last attribute is probably the most important. Love and take care of your family.
I do know a few very good people whose kids grew up to go sadly astray. Especially these last few years, where mindless fear replaced faith, and people were willing to do terrible things to their own family members. It did bring out the worst in a lot of people.
Spitting facts, Ranger!
Courage, Humilty, Kindness. Exactly brother.
Micah 6:8 “Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” Great Video WP!
Absolutely Jonh! Continue with the great job to the community! Greetings from Portugal!
Spot on! I love the value placed on speaking about family!
John, you just get better and better. I am so glad I came across you all those years ago. Keep on, brother!
John,
I'm so thankful to know that people like you still exist in this otherwise mad world.
Great content as always!
empathy, fairness, loyalty, kindness, respects boundaries, reliable, speaks the truth, positivity, honesty
Add: 1) How they treat animals/pets, esp. dogs and 2) how they treat their waiter/waitress
Thank you for these thoughts John! I always enjoy your content and have truly enjoyed reading your book! I was so excited when I heard about your book that I pre-ordered an extra copy to send to my older sons (from a previous marriage). I wish I could have been able to afford more than the two copies, because I hope to send them to as many of the other men and young men I know as possible. I plan to by one or two copies every 2-4 weeks, so that I can send them out as Christmas presents. I truly admire and appreciate what you do and the message you share. I have overcome a lot in my life, but I still have a long way to go. Videos like this are a great reminder to stop and evaluate the places I still have plenty of room for improvement. I have a great relationship with my children and a very respectful and courteous relationship with my wife, but there is plenty of room for improvement on my part for our relationship to be more "friendly and playful". It's so easy in our world to get burdened and weighed down by the "have too's" and "need too's" these gentle reminders go a long way to self evaluating where we are at and what is truly important!
Thank you for spreading the good news. God Bless You John
Awesome!!! Definitely needed to hear!!!
John, we have never met, but I take my hat off to you and really appreciate you speaking out in regards to how good men should be, pointing out toxic influencers and generally showing yourself to be in what is sadly the minority of what a warrior poet protector should be. Thank you you are appreciated Lee Morrison
This hits home for me, especially this morning. I needed to hear this. Thanks John.
Spot on, John. Keep it up.
Thank you for clarifying the qualities of a good person.
John, I needed this today. I'm going to have to move my family from somewhere I can afford currently, to something unknown due to state AWB. It's been hard to be courageous knowing if I'm making the right decision. Seeing you open with that boosted my faith.
Thank you for this one John! Quick but impactful!
And as you say, better to be good than great.
Solid advice, thanks for your time👍🏽

Just finished reading The Warrior Poet Way, John. Superb book! Thanks for helping to make me a better Warrior and Poet. It's working, and my wife, the love of my life, is noticing, too!
Cool, sounds like I should read that book. Blessings on your journey
I'm interested in this book, could you describe one profound thing from it that impacted you?
@@zeroneutral There are two things I'm remembering well. First, keep your warrior skills sharp, but be quiet about your capabilities, and second, make sure your wife knows she's your beloved, by your appreciation and your protection, which you will work on constantly to improve.

John, I had a friend who is no longer a friend and he checked off all of your boxes with red flags. I never thought of it this way or put it into words like you did but it makes sense. We were friends up until the day he turned those negative traits on me and I could see through the hypocrisy. After hearing your criteria, I know that you and I would be friends, just ask my lovely wife or 3 really great kids who we got complimented on their whole lives and are now 23,22 and 19. Thank you.
Truth!, I listened to your breakdown on Rich Men North of Richmond, and this video here, you have a new subscriber.

Just bought your book. Thanks John!
I could not agree more. I completely understand where your words are coming from. Part of our internal security mechanism inate in each of us should surface some warning to you when danger lurks. I believe this sense is stronger in few than others. It is relative to understanding and being aware of your surroundings. On another note, we should always be watching for the good in people; the warning surfaces when you see the absence of it. I appreciate your post. Sam, USMC Ret.
